Personally, I think the handstand gives you all the benefits of the inversion without endangering the neck or head. If you must do a headstand, be sure to lift through the cervical spine, don’t allow the weight to compress the neck. There’s a nice modification where you use support under the shoulders to take the pressure off the neck. Shoulderstand is also a great inversion. Be sure to keep the head straight and not look to the side when the weight is in the neck, though. Yes, I’m Safety Girl.

I feel the same! My crow is decent, and I can get into a curled-up tripod on my own (with the elbows on the knees), and I’ve been able to get into full forearm stand when helped by an instructor. Real handstands still seem out of reach, so I haven’t tried TOO hard to get that yet. Some other arm balances are easy for me, but some are still completely impossible (I can get a firefly, but NEVER eight angle). It sucks because I feel such a strong pull to go upside down.
