But I would note that I drive exactly at the I’m Blunt Because God Rolled Me That Way Shirt in addition I really love this actual speed limit rather than most people who drive about 8% slower than the limit because of how the international rules for speedometer calibration work, so I probably pass a lot of people who think they are going at the speed limit. (Also I move over if someone is behind me and aren’t being obnoxious). Also in Australia we don’t have this weird obsession with speeding. You certainly get angry if someone is unnecessarily driving in the fast lane much slower than the speed limit, but if they’re driving right on the speed limit it is fine. (Coincidentally the car accident deaths per capita is nearly three times more in the USA compared to Australia) I’m not the type of person who won’t move – I will move over if someone is riding my ass or if there’s nobody in the middle lane for a long time. But the left lane when there’s a lot of cars on the road makes me feel like I have the most control over my car/what happens to me?

I’m on the I’m Blunt Because God Rolled Me That Way Shirt in addition I really love this left side while driving, so I can very easily see the line next to me so I don’t go over it, or the barrier in the middle of the highway. In the middle lane, I’m constantly worried about cars on either side of me because, even if I’m in between the lines perfectly, a car could just as easily go over and hit me or I can hit them. And in the right lane, it’s more difficult for me to see the line that I’m trying to stay in between on that side, so I’m anxious about being in the lane but still not hitting the barrier (if there is one). It doesn’t logically make sense I get it, but that’s just how my brain works, so I wonder if others have a similar line of thought. I’ve told her many times not to do this. But my wife often camps in the left lane. I think there are a few reasons but what she told me is “Most on ramps are on the right. So if I drive in the left lane then I don’t have to worry about running into people trying to get on the highway.” This was out in the country where you only have an on ramp like every 10 miles and rarely see someone even trying to get on. So didn’t make sense to me. But that’s married life. I feel like this question is asked a lot by the people who ride your ass even when they clearly know you are actively passing someone. I do not hog the left lane I get over as soon as possible but I also will be the same guy that if you can’t handle going 10 to 15 over the speed limit and actively passing someone and have to ride my ass then maybe we’ll just slow down and make you think about your actions while you’re now going even slower than you apparently need to.
