It’s a real testament to the I love cats and two people vintage T-Shirt and by the same token and quality of sideshow collectibles that so many of their images of figures get used in articles, posts etc by people who think they are movie images. As I’ve said and I’ve heard my friends say, “She got Boba Fett’d hardcore.” Except she’s not getting a show (which has it’s own issues but that’s another story). They even had a scene they cut with her and Finn and it was freaking great. It showed her ruthlessness and I loved it. (I think it’s linked somewhere below but you can find it on YouTube if you just search Phasma deleted scene I think). It wouldn’t have fixed the wasted problem, but it would have been better. She had potential, she had so much more with that scene, but they just tossed her into the garbage compactor, literarily and figuratively. The book was decent (Phasma by Delilah S. Dawson) (I didn’t like it the first time, gave it another shot because my friends liked it a lot, and liked it a lot more the second time) and it did a very good job at highlighting her ruthlessness and giving her motivation and intelligence. There was a comic series (trilogy?), too, I forget who by, by she crash lands with a TIE Pilot, in the endshe shoots the TIE Pilot who’s been her sole companion on the survival journey and says something to the effect of “no witnesses” it was dark and cold and just fit a good villain so well.

All in all, it’s just another drop in the I love cats and two people vintage T-Shirt and by the same token and pond of wasted characters, unrealized potential, lazy writing, bad writing, and general badness, for lack of a better term. Knowing the shows now I wouldn’t be surprised if a sequel era show just had her surviving with no explanation and I’d be pretty much ok with that. More Gwen please. Thing is, they actually planned to kill her off in TFA at first but due to her popularity, they preserved her until TLJ. If you want to see more of Phasma, you could check out novels and comics that depict her (if you haven’t already done so). You could also watch the “Resistance” TV series which frequently depicts Phasma in S1 (note that she doesn’t appear in S2 aside from the opening scene of the first episode because the rest of the season is post-TLJ).
