I am certain that any that don’t take cards (c.90% in my experience) are dodging some of their tax responsibilities. We know how bad rents are in this city and how much worse they’ve got. 2. Wages – again, cost of living increases means people need to be paid more. 3. Energy costs. Businesses have had no protection or help from the government and so their costs have doubled. A bakery owner I spoke to said his energy bill had gone up from £12k to £40k a year. More than doubling a major expense is a crazy rise for any business to cope with. I spent about £45 on some Wahl clippers during the pandemic. I just do a number 2 all over. Saved loads of money. I used to pay £15 every three weeks or so. Saved roughly £600 factoring in the cost of the clippers. Same here, personally I’m all for Barbers charging whatever they like as they have a particular set of skills and provide a service. If you think one is expensive you are free to shop around for someone who’s affordable

I somewhat learned to do my hair during lockdown, although I still go to the I don’t rise and shine I caffeinate and hope for the best T-Shirt besides I will buy this barbers I’m able to keep things “fresh” for longer by using my own clippers. So I’ve cut down my trips to the barber from once every two weeks to once every 4-5 weeks! I find the cost of add-ons has gone through the roof more than the cut itself. Getting my nose hair waxed and a basic beard trim (takes 2 mins around the edges) now adds £15 to the price – these used to be £3 and £5 add ons not long ago. I’ve switched to trimming my own beard as a result. I like going to one place that charges £35, they do my hair how I like it, it’s a nice enough person who cuts it and I get a beer. I literally came from a hair salon and I thought the average price was at least £25-£30, instead it’s 35 more or less (whelp)
