This is why I stay in hotels. Hotel beds.. always comfortable. Never cheap unless it’s a roach motel. I had this issue with Airbnb beds being extremely uncomfortable. You’re probably right, we’ve spent a half full of nights in our rental to make sure everything was ok and to our liking. It’s attached to our house so it’s a bit easier though. We also have friends/family over quite a bit that use it so we make sure it’s fully equipped and nice. It is our second home, and we Airbnb it when we are not there. Our home is decorated simply, but is comfortable. Everything is clean and new, but not “fancy” and we would never advertise as such. Our pictures are very accurate. One thing we were cautious of was trying to make the home feel “ours” when we are there without it feeling too personal for renters. So all of the pictures/art on the walls are our travel photos. They are personal to us because of the memories, but they are all landscape/scenery type shots without us in them. We have stayed at owner run AirBnbs that were full of family photos and personal items, and it was a little uncomfortable, like we were invading their space. I had a wonderful stay in Paris at an apartment. The lady said she just goes south when she gets a reservation. I even borrowed a scarf one day. I would stay there again.
