The only problem in Budapest are the p*rn and adult industry recruiters. They actually exist and target solo travellers no joke I’d be more worried about France than Budapest. I went to Budapest solo and had no problems. You come across a few groups on a stag weekend but they are usually no problem. A few years ago a high school canceled its trip to Europe bc of fears of their children being kidnapped. All bc of a move. Budapest is beautiful. Like with any major city, use common sense, don’t wander dangerous streets at night and you’ll be fine. It’s completely safe. Ofc there are worse neighbourhoods and you have to watch out for pickpockets on public transport bit it’s a tourist friendly vibrant city. Marseille is more dangerous but it’s still ok I’m a woman who’s travelled extensively in Western and Eastern European cities. You will be absolutely fine as long as you’re not totally daft and take usual precautions. Eastern cities feel a lot safer than Western cities (worst one for me was Paris). Prague and Budapest are fine.
