I have friends like who did something very similar. I think instead of mountain bikes and a ski trip it was a Vegas Vacation. Most of us weren’t dumb enough to donate. Bad optics all around with those two if I’m being honest. They lack self awareness. The sister bought expensive electronics and gifts etc for the kids. Neighbor couldn’t afford it for her kids and resented the sister for putting her in that awkward position. First..you’re meant to be saving for a new place. Second…her kids would see the presents obviously. Huge fight ensued. They moved out to the mothers studio apt. She couldn’t understand why what she did was so wrong. To her it was “different” money. Meanwhile they weren’t sending their kids to school. Truancy got involved and the sister blamed the neighbor for turning her in. Which is crazy in itself. They didn’t speak for over a year. Now this might sound long winded and irrelevant, but you’re going to let this slide and it will fester inside you. One day you’ll be hanging out with them and it’ll come gushing out in the worst possible way. What if they never get treatments? Do you get your money back? If they’re good friends, they’ll answer your questions, if not…are they really good friends?
