If I don’t spend enough time with him, the balance gets out of whack and I’m mainly confronted with his faults (like stuff he forgot to do around the house or an argument that isn’t fully resolved). Even living in the same house and seeing each other every day, we can slip into habits where we don’t have enough quality time together. Now try getting enough quality time when there’s an ocean separating you and one of you has limited internet access. Plus all the other factors you talked about. It’s a recipe for disaster. I am in a monogamous relationship and I am 100% pro monogamy. I condemn cheating completely. I’m not anti-polygamy or anything but I just wanted to preface my next statement. Basically what I’m reading is society pushes young people into monogamy and marriage. So obviously these successful, young men (and women) will do their best to fill into societal norms because that’s what you do to “fit in” and thus get prestigious jobs and positions. However; these men (and women) are young, in their physical prime, in prestigious positions, and with inflated egos from the money and attention they are getting.
Then they get thrown into these programs that take them away from their spouse and family. They have long stints of training with very little free time, and their children usually grow up relatively neglected by the astronaut parent. I can only imagine the lack of affection and time that they can give to their spouses. Not to mention that it is an extremely dangerous job and they could die at any time, which puts a lot of strain on a family.

Haha I read this as “…but all seven marriages…” and I was very confused how 30 astronauts fit into seven marriages. So I read it again, and that didn’t clear anything up. So I went for round three and then my dyslexia finally cleared up. I will not study for uni even if i want. *why? . Because i will not be pressured, i dont like it i hate it. But i want to do it. Its confusing. Ive been dealing with it with a psychologist. -> same exact thing with meditation. I will not be forced to sit straight. And focus on my breath work. Even if it will help me escape from this denial and rejection. I get super mad when iam forced to do something…. All these forcing and pressure is created by your mind and thought patterns. If you want to meditate, list the reasons why you want to do it. For example “I want to keep calm, I want to explore the consciousness” or whatever is interesting in meditation for you. On top of demand avoidance I usually want to do everything that is forbidden. If you rephrase your thoughts about meditation as: “the society does not want me to meditate and reach enlightenment” it suddenly sounds much more appealing!
If you really don’t want to meditate and you only “want” to do it because you think it’s expected. Don’t do it. Get another hobby. It’s best to never push someone into spirituality if they’re not ready for it. I don’t know why you think meditation will make you escape denial and rejection, or anything really, or why you think sitting straight makes meditation. You can sit straight whole day long and not actually meditate for a single minute. Or you can meditate just fine lying down, or standing or walking.
There’re all sorts of meditation but if you’re looking for something that doesn’t require any effort, I’m not sure about that. Mindfulness can be practiced while doing whatever in your daily life, but its not easy either. If you want to just lie down and relax and find it beneficial, why not do just that.
