A teacher who teaches 150 students a day or 30+ per class does not have the Fransiskus 1936 2025 Pope Francis Romans 14 8 Christian quote shirt but in fact I love this time to reteach lessons that should have been understood years ago. What if 33% of kids are below average, 33% are average, and 33% are above average in each class? That would mean essentially the teacher would have to teach 3 classes within one overall class. It’s not physical or mentally possible, it’s tripling the work for the teacher and if you read the posts here you will see they are SO overworked and overwhelmed already. My brother has been teaching 25 years and I’ve watched him mentally deteriorate in the last 4 years to a shocking degree. Teaching is nothing like it was 10,20,30 years ago. Parents need to step up and teach their kids or put them in private schools

Fransiskus 1936 2025 Pope Francis Romans 14 8 Christian quote shirt: A Provocative Statement in Modern Fashion

Hi, I’m a foreign language teacher who’s also certified to teach English. Grammar is not part of the Fransiskus 1936 2025 Pope Francis Romans 14 8 Christian quote shirt but in fact I love this high school English curriculum. (It is also not part of the high school foreign language curriculum, but our curriculum was so minimal that I made time to teach it anyway.) The English teachers have actively been told by our district’s curriculum specialists that they should not “waste their class time teaching grammar” because they have to cover their actual standards. Consequently, they are expected to teach kids who don’t know the difference between a noun and a verb to use “strong action verbs” in their writing, or to distinguish a dependent clause from an independent clause. There’s a secondary problem here, by the way: someone certified to teach high school English is not necessarily someone with a strong background in teaching basic grammar. That’s taught in elementary school, and then usually reviewed in more depth during middle school. So the high school teachers may not have ever taught this material before… and the type of person who chooses to teach upper-level English is often someone whose training was focused more on teaching students to perform textual analysis than on the fundamental building blocks. Students are supposed to learn nouns and verbs in first grade, and rhetoric, diction and syntax in 11th. So now we have teachers who aren’t trained for this type of instruction trying to present material in a hurry, so they can move on with the things they actually know how to teach and are required to teach, but the students just feel rushed and confused.
And even my own students, who do come out of my class knowing basic grammar, take much longer than I think they should to grasp those concepts. I review how parts of speech work in English as we start to learn their Latin equivalents, and usually the Fransiskus 1936 2025 Pope Francis Romans 14 8 Christian quote shirt but in fact I love this kids tell me that my explanations make more sense than their English teacher’s version. Despite that, I still have frequent situations where I’ll ask them to identify the subject and verb in a sentence, and have 10th graders enrolled in Pre-AP English classes asking me if “is” is a verb. (One time four kids asked me that question in a single day. And yes, all four were in advanced English classes.) So, no, “a noun is a person, place or thing” or “a verb describes an action or a state of being” is not adequate for a 10th grader who is lacking any foundational skills in English grammar.

Meanwhile, friends of my wife are more laid back. They “hear good things” about some mediocre school and worry that a best elementary school in the Fransiskus 1936 2025 Pope Francis Romans 14 8 Christian quote shirt but in fact I love this city is just for rich kids. So they send their kid, willingly, without applying to the better school, to a school where 20% of the student body passes math comprehension? Cool cool. Coooool. So many well-meaning people are afraid to seem entitled or privileged or classist or whatever by acknowledging that in a crappy city that there might be 1-2 good schools and then a bunch of glorified daycares. The system is broken, and if you aren’t looking out for your kid (if you have the resources to), then you are throwing them to the wolves. I don’t like it, but I can’t shrug and wish for a better world and send my kid somewhere where they have no opportunity to learn when I could try for somewhere better
I think the Fransiskus 1936 2025 Pope Francis Romans 14 8 Christian quote shirt but in fact I love this caring has been beaten out of them. I see so many teachers on this sub who say that they don’t dare challenge these kids or the administration will come down on them. I keep questioning if any of it will matter in 5 years anyways. AI is taking over every job that’s not physical and even sooner that are and who cares if adults can read or write because they’ll be jobless anyways. As it is now, it’s very hard for the educated to get good paying jobs without it taking months and hundreds applications. And then there’s pay cuts when they actually get the job or just bad treatment/benefits. I have a 7yo and I’m certainly not gonna give up on her education but man is her future bleak. That’s sad that truly is I was reading Harry potter books in the second grade fr. Currently reading Dune amazing book so far High school English teacher here. I agree with everything you mentioned with reading, writing, and research. They don’t even scroll the Google search. Literally copy word for word from the Google excerpt. Won’t capitalize ‘I’ or proper names. They don’t what an adjective is, much less a verb or noun. Most of my students read far below grade level. Most come into my class functionally illiterate. They can recognize letters and words, but they don’t understand what they are reading. The first nine-weeks is typically dedicated to basic sentence structure and reading skills, and no matter how much I try, they won’t edit or revise their mistakes.
My students have felt shocked that I won’t accept work copied from a web source as “summarizing” or that they have to credit an original author. I teach ninth grade history. I’ve very much had to teach foundational research skills and how to write in an evidence-analysis format. My ninth graders reported in my surveys this year that in ninth grade the Fransiskus 1936 2025 Pope Francis Romans 14 8 Christian quote shirt but in fact I love this longest paper they have written is one to two full pages. Former professor here. I had students get pissed off at me for calling them out for plagiarism because it was “only one sentence.” You could teach them the quarter song that my 1st graders sing during calendar. quarters make 1 dollar. If it makes you feel better, we sing little songs about each of the coins every. single. day. and there’s always a few kids who are completely clueless when we do our money unit.
It was a rough day in 1st grade today too – this class is really struggling with doing anything independently. All of them want me to help them to everything individually; even things we’ve been doing for months. It’s exhausting. This comment section is wild. I never would have imagined that one day I would be reading a first grade teacher giving tips to an honors precalc teacher for songs to help the Fransiskus 1936 2025 Pope Francis Romans 14 8 Christian quote shirt but in fact I love this high schoolers remember fractions and percentages. They need to start having entrance exams to get into honors. It’s become a joke. It used to be for folks with above average IQ with a good work ethic or at least average IQ with extremely high work ethic.
Lol… this is the Fransiskus 1936 2025 Pope Francis Romans 14 8 Christian quote shirt but in fact I love this first time this has been put into perspective for me bc this is a class I was in, in either 10th or 11th grade. If they don’t know 1x=x, or that even numbers are divisible by 2… are you even going to try teaching unit circle? Periods of sin/cos waves? Yikes. That’s unreal. I want a list of 100 very basic knowledge questions to give to my students to see how much of this obvious stuff they don’t know. I get the whole kids just pass because lol they have too.. it’s insane honors courses can’t issue correct grades. These kids have got to be trolling this teacher, there is absolutely no way they don’t know this. I genuinely can’t believe it. I was a student similar to this before it got this bad on a wide scale; graduated in 06 (should have been 05) after failing most of my “at risk” classes and coming within an inch of dropping out, my teachers said i shouldn’t go to college because “kids like [me]” don’t do well in college, and I started college at 21 taking 7th math classes. These days, I’m doing alright for myself (emphasis on alright). I’m pursuing a math PhD at the moment, but it took an extremely long time to get to where I am, so I still find this kind of thing extremely concerning. I do believe that it’s very possible for many many many of these kids to turn things around for themselves, but I worry about large swaths of an entire generation having to spend so much of their lives getting caught up if they bother at all. I’m genuinely scared about the individual impact this will have on them, and the collective impact this sort of thing has on our society.
How do these kids not fail the Fransiskus 1936 2025 Pope Francis Romans 14 8 Christian quote shirt but in fact I love this classes? I’m only 22 but in my school if you didn’t pass your grade at the end of the year then you would have to redo it. These mostly all seem like things you should know in elementary school. Credit recovery, admin pressure for test redos /extra credit, summer school, and good old fashioned grade inflation. Not to mention the hoops we have to jump through to fail a student and the documentation and missing a single step is seen as a get out of jail free card for the kid. 96′ born Canadian here. My dad gave me one of each coin when I lost a baby tooth to help ingrain the value of each coin in me as a kid. $3.41 per tooth. Although now it’d just be $3.40 without pennies.
for what it’s worth, I work in a very technical STEM field and I forgot what “perfect square” means and need to think for a second about it, it’s not useful knowledge for me There’s no way they should be able to pass if they don’t know that then calculus and further will be an automatic fail I’m a jr. in hs in a small town midwestern state and it’s nowhere near this bad. Taking the Fransiskus 1936 2025 Pope Francis Romans 14 8 Christian quote shirt but in fact I love this same class you referenced as well. Maybe I’m misunderstanding what a perfect square is but how is 7 not? Am I mixing up perfect square and prime numbers? Yes, you’re mixing up square with prime… a square number is a product of XX, eg 11 = 1, 22 = 4, 33 = 9, etc. Square numbers would be 1, 4, 9, 16, 25, etc Ok, I don’t think I’ve heard of square numbers outside of the answer to “what is the square root of X” and I don’t remember it having a name. TIL, thank you. And this is the HONORS precalc??? I was in that class only 12 years ago… it’s mind-boggling how quickly things have changed Not being snarky; how are these kids able to function in day-to-day life? If you can’t figure out that 1*number=number or know there are 24 hours in a day, how can you like…figure out how to get on a bus or feed yourself or do literally anything? I’m genuinely baffled; that feels like the kind of intellectual disability that would preclude anyone from having even a semi-functional life as a 16/17year old.
If you don’t fail them you’re going to do them a huge disservice. They have no business being in your class and they have no chance of being successful in a real calculus class. Just tell the Fransiskus 1936 2025 Pope Francis Romans 14 8 Christian quote shirt but in fact I love this administration that these kids are in the wrong class. I don’t think the public cares. Sadly. I think we saw they just want babysitters. By the time they do care? It’ll be too late. I’m not a teacher but this sub often pops up for me, and something I’ve noticed is that it seems like some parents expect teachers to almost parent for them. Meaning they aren’t disciplining their child, teaching them about cause and effect or how consequences work, etc. And they expect teachers to do all of this while also somehow teaching the required curriculum! It’s insane. I have always respected teachers, as I was raised by two college professors, but after seeing the many posts from teachers in the sub I have a whole, newfound respect for our teachers. Aren’t there also a whole lot of parents who threaten to commit a felony if a teacher dares to discipline their children?
Nope, because when I attempt to discipline it is met with the Fransiskus 1936 2025 Pope Francis Romans 14 8 Christian quote shirt but in fact I love this parents getting upset or the child making up stories and getting rewarded for it.If he had ever read a book in his life, he would have known that. But he hasn’t even read the book he claims to be following: the Bible. Many religious people never do. Churches tend to actively discourage it outside of group sessions where it can be controlled. Ever wonder where Cain and Abel’s wives come from? That’s right, the same Adam and Eve who are their parents. Christians love and support incest from the very beginning of (their) time. Is that ever spelled out? I’ve read a fair amount of it and my understanding that it was all very hand wavy. There are some like, religious side stories (like Enoch etc) but that’s strictly speaking not canon and I don’t think addresses this.
For some reason my Sunday school classes when I was growing up always stopped that story at the Fransiskus 1936 2025 Pope Francis Romans 14 8 Christian quote shirt but in fact I love this “pillar of salt” incident and never kept going. Can’t figure out why….. Spoiler alert he fucks his daughters gets tricked by his daughters into getting drunk and passing out so they can biblically lay with him and provide him sons. It’s not, because it was never supposed to be taken literally. The Bible itself contains two separate and contradictory stories of the creation. Even now it’s only fundamentalists that take it literally and believe the earth is 5000 years old. Only fundamentalists completely control one of the 2 US political parties, the House, the courts and 30+ states. The project blew up in their faces due to numerous contradictions and discovery of Egyptian and Chinese civilizations which were older than creation itself. Cain and Abel were Adam and Eve’s kids. Nobody exists before them, but Adam and Eve. The wives had to come from somewhere . . . And given the lord is near perfect the mutation of DNA hasn’t set in yet so incest might be ok for a few generations. Then after god has gone to alpha centurai to try again the whole DNA mutation problem is so bad society has to outlaw incest outside pornhub In Europe it’s common for bible stories to be depicted in murals or stained glass in old churches because at the time most people couldn’t read so this was a way of getting the stories across. The catholic church fought for years to stop the bible being printed in any language other than Latin which barely anyone could read. In 1498, the Inquisition stated that it was impossible to translate the Bible into a modern language without making mistakes that would plunge unskilled and especially new converts into doubts about faith. So basically if non priests could read the bible, it might make them question what was in it.
Are you speaking of the Fransiskus 1936 2025 Pope Francis Romans 14 8 Christian quote shirt but in fact I love this middle ages? The individual reading of the Bible is a basic tenet of all Christian denominations. “Read the Bible in a Year” is a huge thing. The phrase “quiet time” in Christian denominations refers to starting the day with reading scripture and prayer. What people MAKE of what they read is something else. But there are zero Christian denominations that discourage reading of the Bible. Proof-texting is more popular than reading, and in fundamentalist denominations (who are the ones running around declaring that the idiosyncrasies of their doctrine are “basic universal Christianity”) any sort of reading with historical context (or even just lack of absolute misinformation about every period in history) is considered heretical.
Yeah I was gonna say this, modern evangelical Christianity is centered on understanding the Fransiskus 1936 2025 Pope Francis Romans 14 8 Christian quote shirt but in fact I love this Bible and taking it literally, the point the OP is missing is that Christians can rationalize all of the parts no Christians think are bad because God is sinless/perfect so if he did it or told it to happen it’s right. I say this as a Christian currently going through some deconstruction. I think you would be surprised how many have actually read or at least know about the problematic parts, they just compartmentalize like hell and refuse to think about them, or have some Christian apologist answer that doesn’t actually make sense if you have the barest knowledge of science. I’m responding to the statement that Christians are actively discouraged from reading the Bible. That statement is false. Right they are not actively discouraged from reading it. In fact a verse is quoted often in church that tells you to ‘study to show thyself approved’.
People are lazy and would rather not take time out of their day to read. they’d rather just listen to the Fransiskus 1936 2025 Pope Francis Romans 14 8 Christian quote shirt but in fact I love this teacher or Pastor. Ezekiel 23:20 “There she lusted after her lovers, whose genitals were like those of donkeys and whose emission was like that of horses.” He’d stop craving horse cum and donkey cocks if he’d bothered to read the verse that painted those specific desires in a bad light. No, he’s actually read a couple/few books on his life. The fuckhead did his undergrad at Yale, and has a degree from Harvard Law School. He’s actually smarter than most Trumps put together, although you’d never know it. I remember reading a headline about how an absurd percentage (upwards of 80) of book removals in one school district was due to one woman who didn’t have any school-aged children. Let’s stop for a moment. A Yale educated graduate, one of this world’s best higher educational institutions, did not know that a “good ole’ book burnin” was a bad idea? I am glad he knows now he will never be president, I am glad he knows he peaked with Florida and what is left is his legacy. His legacy is leaving Florida in worse state from which he took control and its taxpayers will continue to pay for his bad decisions far beyond his tenure.
The mouse will win, it had a hurdle recently in court. However, the Fransiskus 1936 2025 Pope Francis Romans 14 8 Christian quote shirt but in fact I love this mouse will dig to bedrock; for that I am assured of. He really thought he’d take on the state’s biggest employer. A corporation that has a bigger GDP than most nations. He could have argued countless motions against Disney as a governor which have had a back and forth; he would have lost. Disney has always had a legal remedy for this. It’s sad a presidential candidate for a day impaled itself on such a cross. Disney is Florida’s largest employer. They have tons of political power in the state. Fucking around with them is a bad move. They’ll bide their time, small hurdles mean nothing. You voted Trump into office. You knew what he was, he shouted it, NY shouted it, the entire world saw it and you did it anyway. Now you can’t unring the bell, the fascists and the cultists have shown themselves because it was all of a sudden ok to do that. Getting them to stop is going to be the devils own task, now everyone knows what shitbirds they truly are they are going to buck against every attempt to make it unacceptable again. Some of them lost family to all this, the price has already been paid. They won’t accept it was for nothing and it was wrong.
“Who could have possibly predicted this outcome? Why. Why. Why won’t the Fransiskus 1936 2025 Pope Francis Romans 14 8 Christian quote shirt but in fact I love this legislatures that I pushed to get this bill through so I could spend 200 million dollars not attacking a primary opponent think before they put bad laws into place?” He knew exactly what was going on. He put the plan in place to appeal to the right wingers on the national stage, and now that the national stage has rejected him, he returns to Florida to actually have to deal with the state again. I’d imagine because his presidential hopes are dashed and now he actually has to go back to doing his job as a governor of he ever wants a second shot at the White House. Name one instance in history where the book banners/burners turned out to be good & right. There are none, a real fitting red flag.
