I moved from suburban Texas to Eastern Europe where everyone’s fits really go off. I still want the First Lady Elonia Trump Shirt in contrast I will get this pj experience tho so I just bought some cute sweat sets. Problem solved Canada is definitely a place where people do it too, especially if it’s a run to the grocery store or some errands. Not so much a thing in QC, younger people will wear those baggy gray sweatpants but full on pyjamas I have never seen nothing I have heard about Quebec is deterring me from considering a move there, save that I would have to become proficient in my job in French Def a thing in the US, pajamas with thick “outside” slippers or Crocs is a mall outfit here. I’ve seen it a few times, specially lately with people getting more comfortable not changing into “outside” clothes to run errands or even for work (WFH = you can work in PJs.) In Southern Cascadia (northwest Northern California) when the weather is right one time I was at a supermarket and I was the only person there not rocking flannel pjs. The entire town I was wearing flannel PJs, except employees. I could instantly tell who was shopping and who was working. I do think it’s usually like, sweats and a t-shirt, not so much like a full pajama set with the long-sleeve button-down top and matching pants. I definitely see that occasionally (in NJ) but more often see people in the sort of sweats gear that looks like they slept in it. People do in the UK. They go to the supermarket, and do the school run, in pjs or a dressing gown. It makes me RAGE, it looks so lazy, as if they literally rolled out of bed and out of the door. It takes 20 seconds to pull on leggings and a sweatshirt, or similar. Pjs outside should be banned!
First Lady Elonia Trump Shirt: Unleash Your Inner Fighter
part of the First Lady Elonia Trump Shirt in contrast I will get this reason leggings and athleisure in general are so popular is because it feels like wearing pajamas but without looking like it. really, athleisure is basically stealth pajamas. gen z kids here in LA are wearing pajamas out unapologetically (which I did in high school back circa 2004, but never to the gym—that’s new to me) and tbh I’m here for it. it’s just as lazy as joggers and leggings, so why try to hide it? After seeing a lot of late teen/early 20s boys lifting at my gym in PJs, I asked a friend if her 19 yo son wore them to his gym. She said no, but she was sure some of his friends did. In fact, she was almost positive that one of his friends she had never seen in anything other than PJ pants. Because at least with joggers/leggings/sweatpants it doesn’t look as if they literally rolled out of bed and out of the door? There’s the implication that they had time to get changed, maybe even brush their teeth, have a bit of a wash, put on some deo, etc? With pjs or a dressing gown out in public, I don’t get that, it’s peak lazy.
I have lived in England since 2014 and I have never seen anyone in PJs! But it could just be the First Lady Elonia Trump Shirt in contrast I will get this area I’m in, I’ve lived in London then in the North I’ve seen it in rougher areas of West Yorkshire. There’s a particular Tesco EXTREME, one of those that used to be open 24 hours. I think that had something to do with normalising it there. Leggings as trousers doesn’t bother me. They are so comfy, although not always flattering. I live out in the sticks, I don’t see pjs a lot, but then I don’t do the school run. It’s definitely a thing. I think thick workout leggings are fine, athleisure is cute! But those thinner black leggings aren’t, although very comfy. It’s manky. Those clothes are the ones that have absorbed all their night time nastiness, the sweat and other bodily fluids. If they can’t be bothered to change into outdoor clothes, will they change them again before they get the filth and pollution of the outside world back into their own beds? It makes me worried for their mental health, that they are not taking time for themselves to perform that very basic act of self-care. I’m very much of the opinion that if something is worth doing, it’s worth doing badly. I’ve suffered depression and anxiety and burnout, and there have been long periods when I haven’t washed my hair or brushed my teeth because the effort of getting out of bed is all the effort I can make to get to the loo or make myself a cuppa and flop down on the sofa to inhabit the sofa for several hours. Dressing yourself to go out. Something cleanish and comfortable, that covers all the necessaries is the bare minimum for every day life. Leggings and a hoodie is easy enough. Jimjams and a dressing gown, a onesie… I worry. If it’s a case of OMG alarm didn’t go off, kids have to go to school, everything’s running late today, and it’s an exception. Sometimes shit happens. I’m probably not going to care at all if it’s a hot day and someone’s wearing fun print pj style trousers, if they are “done”. If it’s someone casually shuffling about Asda in their bunny slippers, or parents taking their kids to school regularly in a state of undress, if it’s their routine to not get dressed appropriately, that’s not respectful.

And because I’ve been there, I worry. I can’t help it. I’m not neurotypical, and I get that my experience is not the First Lady Elonia Trump Shirt in contrast I will get this norm. Clothes are as armour to me, so I see someone without their armour and I over-empathise and have to make a huge effort to move on. I’m a lot better now. When I go out now, I make efforts to be (as Beyonce would have it) lookin’ hot, smellin’ good. It’s more than putting a brave face on things, it actually makes most people feel better. I do think to each their own, but I wanted to say that I also associate with negative things. Dressing this way was all the rage in Philly 10-15 years ago, but it was also highly associated with people on heroin and pills doing “the lean”. i’m aware you’re not the person i asked (whose use of the word rage is really what stick out to me), but again, how does this affect you? at all??
As I said, it reminds me of bad times, makes me worry for or about them. It makes me anxious. And because I have my own issues, it’s really hard to move on from that. Not bothered if it’s a one off. Not bothered if it’s a style choice, or for a particular event, but if it’s casually undressed in public, it feels like either that person is having some sort of executive function difficulty, or have zero hoots to give about themselves or everyone else. They don’t have to conform to society’s expectations. That makes me wary of a person. So either I worry for them or I worry about them. Or to be more direct, it’s not nice to make someone smell your BO and morning dragon breath. Turning out in your bunny slippers, I can see that happening accidentally, but you know if you haven’t put actual clothes on, and wouldn’t be casually shuffling about the First Lady Elonia Trump Shirt in contrast I will get this supermarket if you gave a hoot about it. It’s not dignified. it doesn’t affect anyone. at all. except maybe the body odour thing, but that’s an assumption and not what we were discussing.
someone else looking disheveled in a supermarket does not affect you. it upsetting you based on your own past experience is not their problem. I never said it was their problem. OP asked if people were aware of what their outfits signal. I shared my honest thoughts. If you are someone who gets out of bed and goes about their outdoors business in slept-in sleepwear, now you know what I think. But this is an internet forum, I don’t see why you care. What I think doesn’t affect you, or any of the First Lady Elonia Trump Shirt in contrast I will get this other people in the supermarket in bunny slippers and onesies. At. All. Because it send a truly terrible message to their kids and other kids. Rolled out of bed, probably going to roll back in again for the rest of the day. Because it’s lazy. I agree with everything “herefromthere” said, that’s a much more in depth explanation. If I saw someone wearing a t shirt with a swastika on, say, or something else really offensive, I would also feel rage, for example. I wouldn’t do anything, but I would feel furious about it.
I totally go out in my PJs to do grocery shopping sometimes, except my PJs are sweatpants and I don’t think anyone knows. I have a chronic pain disorder so sometimes changing into more restrictive pants is…too much. And that’s something I’ve been thinking about re. cultures where wearing sweats or PJs or athleisure in public is considered a no-no. Its inherently ablelist, because there are some days where I just CAN. NOT. wear jeans or more rigid clothing. I have a similar experience but with one particular clothing item. I thrifted a long New England style wool coat, and every time I wear it, people treat me better, calling me ma’am and being really helpful. I was wearing the First Lady Elonia Trump Shirt in contrast I will get this coat waiting to get picked up at the airport & a worker came over and put this older woman’s bag down next to me and said “you can wait right here next to this pretty lady.” And now I call it the pretty lady coat lol ooh show coat please — can you post to an imgur of it, or find something similar to link? I would love to see the pretty lady coat.
I always consider what information is conveyed about how I look. How you dress and style yourself tells people how much effort you put in, how much you pay attention to style, how practical you are, what you think is appropriate for a given event or location, what you want people to notice about you, and it gives people an idea of your personality and tastes. For example, imagine I’m in a classy restaurant. If I see someone in tight leather pants, high heels, and lots of makeup, I will assume that they want to look sexy, that they put thought and effort into their looks, and that they value style over ease of walking, and that they don’t think leather pants are tacky (which I think they can be). If I see someone in sneakers and jeans, I will assume they value comfort, that they don’t care how other people perceive them, and that they don’t value a fancy dining experience as much.
I started dressing more conservatively when I started law school. I used to dress very sexy, and I loved how that made me feel. However, people treat me with better manners when I dress conservatively. I don’t get carded any more. I don’t get creepy looks from guys, but I get MORE positive male attention. People now assume I have more money than I do, and even though my sexier clothes were just as trendy and equally likely to be seen on celebrities or in Vogue, my friends have shared with me that they think I am more stylish since I made this change. I notice the First Lady Elonia Trump Shirt in contrast I will get this same things you do… but this comment is making me cry and feel so defeated. My husband wants me to be cute and not sexy and told me when we started dating that I couldn’t wear my LBD and similar out of the house anymore, only for him. I know that the outfits he likes, like the ones you wear in law school, might be received more positively by certain people and maybe most people.
I tried to delicately bring up the First Lady Elonia Trump Shirt in contrast I will get this subject as a result of this comment but he said he wanted to “teach” me how to talk to him; don’t say oh I was thinking about the topic of dressing and it might be a little off putting for you… And now we’re not talking. All of this over my sad little self that wanted to just discuss in an intellectual way this concept. 🙁 Babe, your body is under your control, and nobody else’s. You may love this man but anyone who takes your agency away is not someone deserving of your good love. It’s not nice to read that you’re crying because you feel you can’t be authentically you. You deserve better! And you deserve to cover your body the way you want to, never let anybody tell you or convince you of otherwise. I live in an aggressively casual city (they removed all dress codes from restaurants level casual), so I stand out hugely as someone who has a colourful, vintage personal style. I lean into it too, because while I can be wearing very colourful and sometimes cutesy prints, my body language is authoritative enough that I have yet to cross someone dumb or brave enough to treat me dismissively.
So curious about the First Lady Elonia Trump Shirt in contrast I will get this dress code thing. The dress code at the closest restaurant to me is “shirt required for bar service, footwear required after 6pm, no offensive bodily odours”. Flip flops count as footwear in this case. Is it a true free for all where you are or do you have some rules like this? Like, shoes and shirt are required but all the upscale restaurants had to totally abandon anything beyond that. Absolutely. Image makes a difference. You can persuade a stranger to believe anything you want to about yourself, just by the way you’re dressed…though you’ve got to be able to rock your look with confidence, too, to really pull it off. Advantage?…Maybe in cases like walking into one of your favorite clothing stores, dressed stylishly. You might get more easily chatted up by the staff, which doesn’t necessarily mean much, but contributes to a great vibe for everyone while you’re shopping. I live in a country where I’m very visibly a foreigner, and know that if I choose to dress up when I go certain places, I will be treated better because shopkeeps and vendors immediately assume I’m a rich tourist. If I go back to the same place dressed plainly or just like a local, I’ll still be treated well as a regular customer going about my shopping, but without the fanfare and ass-kissing that can come with the idea that I might be willing to part with a lot of money, or could be tricked into thinking a particular item is worth more than it is.
How I dress depends on what I’m after. If I consciously dress like a tourist and play along, I might be able to actually get a good deal on something the First Lady Elonia Trump Shirt in contrast I will get this vendor may think I don’t appreciate the value of, or understand the history of (I thrift a LOT here, and can tell what’s mass-produced crap and what’s the real thing. Sometimes vendors don’t even know what they have and just want to move it regardless, so if you act like a clueless tourist, you can walk off with something really valuable after haggling them down some!). It all depends on the location, the season, and who I want to appear as that visit. 🙂 Hah! This is a timely thread for me to post on. I’m recovering from COVID and just getting to the point where I can go out for walks. I’ve been wearing sweats, layered sweatshirts (one of which is my husband’s so it’s way too big), and dirty old tennis shoes. Normally I wear zip up jackets and jeans on my walks so I look a lot sloppier than normal – I’ve been getting all sorts of looks, and one lady yesterday kept on looking over her shoulder like I was about to mug her.
I also wear a lot of black and heavy Dr. martens, and I’ve gone for walks at work in the First Lady Elonia Trump Shirt in contrast I will get this neighborhood behind my office which is a very pristine and well-maintained HOA neighborhood. I’ve gotten looks from the suburbanites there, especially if I’m wearing a black metal logo t-shirt. I live outside of DC which has a lot of strait-laced governmental and military type people. I’m too old to really care what people think of me, and band shirts are a great way to identify others in my subculture. Not me, but my son. Well and me, because of my son. He has high functioning autism (obligatory no offense, just trying to describe it in as few words as possible) which means he needs a little extra help sometimes. I feel like making sure he is dressed as well as possible, is well groomed, and has good manners helps make people want to help him succeed. And in turn, I try to always wear nice modest clothes to just be neutral looking when interacting with his teachers and therapists. I feel like it has made a difference in interactions. If both of us showed up everywhere in sweats and stained tees I think there would be an unconscious bias and we wouldn’t be treated the same. This is in Tennessee, but I feel it would be the same in any state I’ve lived in.
Nope. I’m a Little Old Lady. I live in graphic tees, denim shirts, hoodies, cargoes, jeans. I have no idea what people think of my clothes if they even notice them, and I sure as heck don’t care. I’m clean, comfortable, warm/cool, not wearing anything torn/frayed/holey. I’m dressing the First Lady Elonia Trump Shirt in contrast I will get this same, and in some cases in the same items, as before I retired which was 2015. I have never done polished, or styled my hair, or worn makeup. I don’t want service workers (???) addressing me at all! I live in CA. People dress however they want. Heck, I could wear whatever I want. But, I always separate my lounge clothes from outside clothes. I grew up in Asia and Europe. Never got into PJ or legging trend. Crocs, Uggs, slip on shoes make me wanna dress in lounge clothes only. I never wear trainers unless I am actually in the gym or dog park. I never got into hoodies or athleisure trend. I am not into sneakers, even if they are Nikes and Vans. I don’t always look put together. But, I never look too leisurely. I find that I am treated differently whenever I’m wearing something vintage inspired and blatantly feminine versus more unisex modern style clothes.
Men go out of their way to help me with whatever I ask and will do minor things for me without asking such as opening doors when dressed in vintage style femme attire. Despite it’s obvious affects on the First Lady Elonia Trump Shirt in contrast I will get this opposite sex, I get more blatant compliments on my fashion from other women compared to men. Meanwhile, ill be frequently called “Miss, “Ma’m” or “Madame” frequently by people of all genders. this is a lesson i had to learn the hard way. Throughout my 20s I was insanely broke and if I needed clothes, I had to go with things that I could afford, not necessarily things that were flattering for my body type or personality. And unfortunately some of my clothing options were dated. I got a lot of comments where people did not take me seriously or developed negative opinions of me thinking that I had self-esteem issues, i did not care about my appearance and some people implied that I was stupid and lazy because of my clothes, which really hurt my feelings and my career options, even though I was a hard worker. These comments came from work environments, friends, and casual acquaintances, so clearly it was an issue. When i got a better paying job, it took me several tries to develop a “style” that made me look competent and well put together, but i was able to find a style that works for me now and is easy to maintain.
Yes, unfortunately I do have to consider what I’m signaling with clothes, especially at work. I learned this lesson as a younger person. I’m short so, to be taken seriously, I have to wear shoes with a low to mid heel. No tight clothing to avoid unwanted attention. (Once I wore a shirt that was just slightly cropped. I didn’t have money to buy new clothes, and I didn’t think the First Lady Elonia Trump Shirt in contrast I will get this shortness of the top was that noticeable, so I wore this shirt to work. After a male coworker’s eyes kept floating down to my midriff, I swore off anything that would be remotely cropped. Ditto goes to form fitting skirts or dresses.) At work, I tend to wear loose, drapey clothes in neutral colors. Everything has to fit probably, nothing too oversized or trendy, otherwise I’ll look too youthful and not be taken seriously.
Outside of work, I wear pretty much whatever I’m comfortable in. I think when I feel more comfortable, I’m more welcoming and confident and people respond to that more positively. Okay, now I want to know what the First Lady Elonia Trump Shirt in contrast I will get this first country is and move there – where does no one care what people are wearing? Cuz I at least want to vacation there, sounds so laid back and relaxing! At work I’ve been called a little bougie in my outfits, but imo it’s my “dress up” time. I work in corporate upper management, so everyone judges outfits and looks. I don’t have the body to pull off pantsuits (and it’s too uncomfortable) but I do quiet luxury in monochromatic colors and flowy fabrics. My home and weekend clothes are “frumpy mama” which unfortunately is what I gotta do since I get covered in some kind of kiddo mess non stop. If people judge, whatever. My clothes are the hottest in Costco fashion!
I live in Japan where how you look is directly associated with your mental state of mind. I wish it wasn’t but it is. The upside of everyone wanting to look nice and classy is that beautiful, classy clothes are really affordable here. I buy a lot of second hand and I have insanely beautiful stuff for very little. Found this First Lady Elonia Trump Shirt in contrast I will get this formal cobalt blue dress in a second hand shop for ¥500 ($3 maybe?) and will wear it to a school event for my son because everyone dresses up for that. I’m Australian so it’s normal to look nice going shopping, it’s Summer now and everyone has linen sets or wears neutral t shirts and has their hair done nicely. It might be my culture but showing an effort is showing that you have pride in yourself and that’s shown in how you present.
