Also, people on the Extreme Demon Icon shirt but I will buy this shirt and I will love this far left or right will just assume a centrist is “okay” with radical views from both sides when it’s usually the opposite. I mean what is Centrist opinion when you have one party that cuts off the body parts of children. What is the Centrist opinion to that? I mean what is Centrist opinion when you have a party that wanted to shutter every small business for years over the latest version of the flu made in a lab in China paid for by our tax dollars? I mean what is Centrist opinion when you have a party that wanted to put people in concentration camps (or get them fired from their jobs) for not taking a janky unsafe vaccine? I mean what is Centrist opinion when you have a party that wanted to burn down our cities because a man was apprehended incorrectly and died while high on fentanyl? Because polarized people are blind. They can only see your motivation as apathy. Your ability to see nuance and threatens their partizan identity so it’s easier to write you off the same way they write off anyone who isn’t polarized the same way they are. The entire original point of a left right political spectrum was to visualize the spectrum of economic stances between capitalism vs communism in which centrism is the fulcrum. In the United States the Overton window shifted so dramatically right during and post Reagan that even that center is so far left to Americans as to not even be considered a conceivable option. Economically we have two microscopically separated far right parties. To claim to be in the center of the two is such an absurd meaningless statement to anyone viewing the full spectrum that the claimant is deserving of ridicule. It’s not an issue. People just automatically assume that if you aren’t completely anti one side then you must support all of the worst qualities of that side since you’re not on their side denouncing them. Which isn’t true. At all. But these people also don’t think freely and deal with only absolutes which is why they are heavily on one side of the aisle or the other. It’s perfectly fine to think that we need oil and gas and electric vehicles and good regulations and recycling programs all at the same time. Those are not all exclusive from one another. But to some you’re a redneck or a hippie if you aren’t anti one complete side of that.

Because political parties are in one business, winning elections. They are not about solving problems. If they can solve problems by winning then OK, great. If they can create problems in order to win, so be it. They indoctrinate their followers by pointing out the Extreme Demon Icon shirt but I will buy this shirt and I will love this worst of the opposite party thereby insuring votes. This is inflamed by a deeply partisan media that makes money off of conflict. Most of the electorate is uniformed and both parties and the media want it that way. Also most people don’t care enough to learn, and just want to think of politics like they do their home baseball team. Once you understand that, and also that in the USA we have only two viable parties which exacerbates the problem, then understand why it’s looked down upon and nothing gets done.
