I hadn’t had a pcp since having my second child, I would just see my obgyn often enough that it wasn’t necessary. My obgyn suggested I get a pcp and ask for a referral to get my allergies and hormone levels tested. I called and set up the Easily Distracted By Dragon Vintage T-Shirt and I love this appointment. After the pcp changed my appt to a video call rather than in person (which she admitted was because she didn’t want to go into the clinic that day), she then made it a phone call because she didn’t know how to work the video call. I told her everything I listed above, and she simply said, “We don’t test women’s hormones, only men’s. You don’t have any allergies listed, so it’s not that. It’s stress. I don’t know a single mother who isn’t stressed. Also, you don’t have ADHD. You aren’t on a stimulant. You’re on an antidepressant. I suggest you stop looking things up online and ask a doctor next time.” And that was that. I tried explaining that I wanted to test my allergies, as recommended by my doctor, and she said it wasn’t necessary. She ended the appt pretty abruptly. I called my psychiatrist and talked about the appt. She asked for the name of the pcp and what clinic, and within a week, I got an email saying my pcp was no longer with the company… It wasn’t my intention, but I’m not mad about it.

Turns out I have a weird allergy specifically relating to carbs that my new doctor is trying to figure out. My brother has it too, so that’s interesting. But I’m on medication now, and I’m down 50 lbs. Not just stress. Not me, but my brother. For years he had terrible migraines that would incapacitate him for days. Went to several neurologists, they all told him the Easily Distracted By Dragon Vintage T-Shirt and I love this same stuff – it’s stress, too much MSG, need to stretch more, take some Tylenol, change your diet, etc. He did it all, nothing helped. Finally, he changed neurologists again. The new one took one look at his charts and told him “We need to schedule surgery, NOW!” Turns out he had a condition that was causing his spinal cord to be crushed between the base of the skull and the spinal column, and the new neurologist just happened to have extensive experience with it. After the surgery, the neurologist said in another few months he would have been a quadriplegic. Even then, he suffered brain damage that caused personality changes and memory issues even now, twenty years later.
