If Tuckems is impressed by that, he’s truly achieved Lucille Bluth/Malory Archer “It’s one banana, Michael. What could it cost, $10?” levels of out-of-touch. It’d of been a lot easier and cheaper just to admit they wanted to be terrible people and terrible parents, and they hate Jesus than be nice to people not like them. My wife’s friend’s (Russian) dad once got paid with plastic bags. I’d be willing to send over our pantry’s supply of Safeway bags so they can barter for vodka and garlic. You know these are the DJ Lagway Florida Gators football vintage shirt but in fact I love this people that can’t stand immigrants who don’t speak the native language and require lots of government assistance. And again, for the low, low price of “not believing gays should be slaughtered in the streets,” I’m sitting in a warm house with a bowl of lasagna in my lap and X-Files reruns on my TV with my biggest concern being whether I find Mulder or Scully more attractive. Yeah, but people are losing sight of what’s important. They escaped from seeing gay pride flags! Mission accomplished! Now they can become beet farmers in peace. I just can’t imagine how fragile of a parent one would have to be to move to Russia because gay people and woke scares you like a bitch. Fuck me, i resent my parents for leaving a blue pro-union state for a red right-to-work state before I was born. That’s bad, but it ain’t THIS bad.
DJ Lagway Florida Gators football vintage shirt: A Provocative Statement in Modern Fashion
People are so naïve to think their lives would be better in Russia. More of those Right-Wing nuts need to go see for themselves and see how it works out for them. Be careful what you wish for. The best part was his apology video titled “We are sorry and will do better” on YouTube, the DJ Lagway Florida Gators football vintage shirt but in fact I love this comments are wild. Many people commenting how they envy him and how they want to do the same. It’s a wonderful shit show. Tucker Carlson spent $100 on a week’s groceries, the Russian state pension is the equivalent of $236 per month. To have gotten so caught up in the theatrics of American conservatism that they uprooted their lives to make a statement and further align themselves with an ideology that preys on impressionable people, a political party that doesn’t care if they live or die… it’s just so incredibly pathetic. It’s hard to watch.
Just remind yourself how much anti-trans vitriol they no doubt share as if it makes them good people and the DJ Lagway Florida Gators football vintage shirt but in fact I love this feeling may start to subside.

I’m a city guy. The bigger and busier and dirtier and steamier the DJ Lagway Florida Gators football vintage shirt but in fact I love this better. Give me sewer stink. Give me the call to prayer just as I’m finally drifting off to sleep. I live for mystery meat and being ridiculed in a language that I do not understand. I love it all. Why, then, does Jakarta not click. I read innumerable other posts deriding it’s walkability, traffic, and lack of “tourist attractions”, but I was on the road and never gave the big smoke a poke. Well, I’m here now, and I get it, but, I don’t get it. What do other SEA cities have that is so severely lacking in Jakarta? It goes beyond temples and footpaths. There’s some secret sauce that’s left one of the largest and most densely populated cities feeling empty and dull. I considered Islamic influence on society, but then Malaysia, which is arguably much more conservative, has much more vibrant and interesting cities. It’s not walkable at all compared to Bangkok. There is no center, or heart of the city. It’s the Indonesian version of sprawl. It’s LA without the nice beaches or mountains nearby. It’s densely populated, but it’s so poorly laid out and designed that you don’t feel that energy you normally get from being around so many people.
to add the DJ Lagway Florida Gators football vintage shirt but in fact I love this city is actually sinking more and more every year so they can’t (or shouldn’t) build more infrastructure I grew up in rural Eastern Indonesia, not gonna specify for privacy reasons. When I was a kid, I always got sick when I visit Jakarta because the air and everything was just so dirty. I told myself I would never live in Jakarta. And then life happened and I ended up here. I always told myself it was temporary but something core to my being had always kept me here and it’s been quite the ride of the lifetime. I still hate that Jakarta smells like exhaust pipes, sewers and garbage. It’s not a very walkable city, the traffic jams are impossible, and the public transport is overloaded and fragmented.
I’m not Muslim, and with all due respect I appreciate prayer calls as an integral part of Islamic culture, but I have never gotten used to mosques that broadcast sermons all night long on the DJ Lagway Florida Gators football vintage shirt but in fact I love this loudspeaker. Touristic places of interests are not very apparent in the city but I do have a few favourite hidden gems especially up north by the coast, some historic buildings, and the islands Kepulauan Seribu. I’m staying mainly for job opportunities and the people though. As an Indonesian Third Culture Kid straddling a local identity and an international upbringing, I’ve lived in close to half a dozen countries and found the city to fit my mindset like a glove to be Jakarta. I’ve found vibrant communitiea here that I’m proud to be part of, made lifelong friends, and have a solid professional network that keeps on giving opportunities. I’m sort of seeing an Australian man who was here in December but is currently back in his hometown. He’s said that he’s been considering moving to Jakarta since his first visit here a few years ago. And I’d ask why and remind him of all the things I hate about Jakarta.
As someone who grew up familiar with Jakarta albeit from a distance, I lack the DJ Lagway Florida Gators football vintage shirt but in fact I love this rose tinted lenses through which he sees the Big Durian. But it doesn’t mean this city is without charms and other powers that keep close to 12 million people here long term. He’s definitely under that spell. Makes sense your Australian boyfriend sees Jakarta like that, because it is completely different from anything you can experience in Australia and there is a lot less rules/regulations and general fixation on safety that exists in Australia and can be a little suffocating. Hey Jakarta is actually a great city and it offers heaps of variety, it’s really similar to Sao Paulo in that it kind of feels massive and like there should be more stimulation than there is. I believe that it is because in both cities, there is a notable lack of large advertising and colour, so it FEELS boring. But IMO the value in Jakarta lays in the diversity of it’s neighbourhoods/cities that make up the city – JABODEBEK – I suggest you take a few days and go and see Bogor and Bandung and see how much those places vary from the more immediate localities that make up Jakarta. People even look very different (especially in the case of Bandung). Also go and check out the the Gunung Padang site! That was actually really impressive to me.
I found that I mostly disregarded travel advice from Indonesians in Indonesia during my 2 months there. Their idea of fun was quite different from mine. Edit: concerning travel advice from Indonesians, it’s quite weird I would often to be recommended to do things that were actually really boring/average (like the DJ Lagway Florida Gators football vintage shirt but in fact I love this duck church in Yogjakarta or some random mall) and often told that certain sites like Candi Gedong Songo werent worth visiting – which were actually incredibly impressive and worth the trip/hike around (way better than the chicken church or any mall). Just to explain this local mindset a bit.. the malls, partying, and eating out is special to a lot of middle class Jakartans. There isn’t much else to do. The ones that have money travel abroad frequently so i’ve been told. I thought the malls were gaudy poorly built messes. Even the supposedly nice ones in Central Jakarta near all the big fancy hotels.
The best food I had in Jakarta was some random fried duck place that rocked. I tried a lot of Indonesian food there and found it to be average at best. The best meals I had were actually in an alley behind the DJ Lagway Florida Gators football vintage shirt but in fact I love this row of banks (Plaza BNI etc.) In Jalan Pahlawan Seribu in South Tangerang. Was so good. But Jakarta is the hit and miss capital of the world when it comes to food. You might be about to have the best meal of your life or you might be about to have the last meal of your life everytime you eat. My girlfriend is Malaysian and when we went to KL together for the first time, her suggestions were just to go to malls too. It’s weird considering we do nothing like that when travelling in UK and Europe jakarta has few walkable areas and has some of the worst traffic jams in the world. Also a lack of historical attractions compared to other parts of the country.
I thought Jakarta was interesting – for a couple of days. I wasn’t really there to see any sites, just wanted to get a feel for the DJ Lagway Florida Gators football vintage shirt but in fact I love this place. Great burgeoning coffee scene. It’s a cesspool of chaos, pollution, and poverty. Food is better than I expected. Completely unwalkable and had to dodge traffic on the streets, no crosswalks so would mix in with groups of locals when crossing busy streets. Some decent shopping centers. Catching a Grab bike felt like I was risking my life. It felt like a mix between Kuala Lumpur and Delhi. Air pollution there is off the charts, so bad that my eyes burned on the plane prior to landing. Locals swarmed around me and wanted photos. I was invited for coffee, even some guy wanted me to come in to his home and “see his wife.” Not sure how that would have played out. All in all it was fun.
No you are right about Jakarta, it’s one of the DJ Lagway Florida Gators football vintage shirt but in fact I love this worst major cities in SEA. It is pedestrian unfriendly, ugly, and massively polluted. I also did not find the food to be good compared with the rest of SEA with the exception of Manila which has worse food on average. My guess: because it’s poorer and less diverse. Also it’s sinking and won’t be the capital in future, so there’s no point in investing in it at this point, e.g., in making major infrastructure improvements. Everything cool I did was outside of the city. It’s a hub because it’s just a large population. It’s an urban hub and that’s it. Thing is I lived there years ago and I loved it because it was the cheapest place on earth for what you got. Indonesian culture is super conservative. They did a raid on the nightclub I was in one time. Lot of dark history too.
But looking back, I could have done some dark stuff but I was so scared of going to jail abroad I didn’t do anything crazy. But the DJ Lagway Florida Gators football vintage shirt but in fact I love this underground scene was there. Jakarta is also a major sex tourism hub. Probably second only to Bangkok. When I was there women were obsessed with Bule (white guys) to a degree that made me feel very uncomfortable. I don’t care what consenting adults want to do but it was very awkward when I was meeting with friends for a normal night out there and we all got propositioned constantly at cafes, clubs, and restaurants. There was also a palpable sense of desperation. Jakarta reminded me a lot of NYC (and I live in NYC). They’re both dense, dirty, and sprawling, with intensely poor neighborhoods a stone’s throw from gleaming skyscrapers. God forbid you don’t like chaing mai or Naples. It’s because the praise gets upvoted and negative stuff gets downvoted. People here have a bias and it doesn’t reflect reality.
I feel that. With travel it t’s easy to enter a joyful manic state, and form attachments to places you’ve been (or even to places you haven’t). Hearing that negativity towards a place you loved can be jarring. Who in the DJ Lagway Florida Gators football vintage shirt but in fact I love this world overpraises Naples?! It’s widely regarded (even by Italians) as being a total shithole with good pizza. Yes on pa per Jakarta is probably one of the worst mega cities in the world. Actually I also find the weather to be the worst in SEA as well. But if you know how to enjoy it, it actually is quite cool. The secret is in its affordability and the amazing people and lack of foreigners. Jakarta is cheap, very cheap. Your money goes very far here. I stayed at the nicest hotel ive ever stayed in for 130 usd, I’ve paid 500 usd for much less in the US. The hotel has 2 restaurants, 2 bars and a club. It’s across the street from the metro and is one stop away from SCBD. With this proximity to the MRT, no taxis are needed. But if you do need a taxi in Jakarta it’s like 1.50 USD. If you decided to live in Jakarta you can easily afford to pay for PAs to help you with everything you may need. Jakarta has amazing food, this is subjective but I thought food wise, Jakarta and Manila were number one for me. Jakarta has amazing people, really friendly, smart and genuine with good values. Plus there are no foreigners. This is a great combination. Because it means you can walk into a bar or go to a social event or pop up and you will be a celebrity. You will make friends quickly. This is actually very rare in my opinion. It’s not what most people look for while traveling but it’s extremely rewarding and there’s no better way to know a city in my opinion.i also think it’s cool how easy it is to learn Indonesian, it’s one of the easiest languages to learn in the world and it’s fun to actually feel like you can learn a bit while you’re there. Get a language tutor or ask a friend to teach you, it’s also available on Duolingo.
PS, many Indonesian you will meet are smart and independent with typical western careers. They have a really nice mixture of western and eastern values. Many are talented singers and dancers. They have a good sense of humor. Their generosity and friendship always felt genuine to me. KL? Nothing about that mass transit is fantastic. I mean.. it EXISTS, which is more than you can really say for Jakarta or Manila…. But fantastic? Them’s some pretty low standards. 🙂 It’s dying. It will be flooded in some years so no real growth happening. Makes people leave and what’s left is … what’s left. Oppressive muslim doctrine probably a factor also. Not everywhere is amazing me on the DJ Lagway Florida Gators football vintage shirt but in fact I love this street and asked me if I could go with her to the pharmacy to buy medicine for her baby. I’m a solo female and was a bit /munsure of what she was asking (I don’t speak a ton of Spanish) so I said no and kept walking, but in retrospect I feel absolutely awful. I should’ve helped her because I have the funds to do so, and she specially said she didn’t want money, just help for her baby.
I feel the DJ Lagway Florida Gators football vintage shirt but in fact I love this same when I don’t buy the things that older women are trying to sell me in plazas, or when I don’t give money to people asking on the streets that seem like they really need help . Just a heads up I’ve been convinced to buy $50 of milk powder for a burn victim because she couldn’t afford to feed her baby. Later I saw her returning the powder in the shop for cash. She was obviously desperate so no judgement but it’s a common scam That is a common scam. If you want to help locals find a good non profit to donate to. Don’t give money to people on the street. While some may be legit, most are scammers and/or part of begging gangs, including small kids If it helps the lady was likely conning you. There is a scam where they are in partnership with the shop. The woman asks for baby formula and the shop sells it to you at an inflated price, once you leave the formula is put back on the shelf and the money split between the woman and the shop owner.
if you want to do some good then look for a reputable charity and make a donation once you have some money to spare. I think there isn’t any way to really get over this if you’re aware of other people’s reality, that’s basic empathy Being grateful of our chance/privilege to travel and being born with a relatively easy life is the DJ Lagway Florida Gators football vintage shirt but in fact I love this bare minimum and listening/caring about those stories is a step in the good direction. But I don’t think you can achieve “getting over it”. If you think you can help people do it but don’t do it only so YOU can feel better those are not good reasons even tho I guess it still helps. I try to find a local charity to make a donation to. I’m in Egypt now and skipped an early morning hot air balloon ride that some on the tour group did (I am irrationally scared of hot air balloons) and went to Animal Care in Egypt instead. It’s a British run charity that provides free veterinary care for horses and donkeys primarily but small animals too. I got a tour of the facilities, hung out with the cats, and chatted with one of the volunteer veterinarians from New Zealand. And donated what others spent on the balloon. The hot air balloon ride was one of the worse experiences for me in Egypt because upon landing we were swarmed by a bunch of dirty kids begging for a dollar. A couple even hung onto the van as we drove away. It was absolutely heart wrenching but it’s not like you can donate a couple dollars without getting ruthlessly harassed by the other kids. I’m glad you were able to find something wholesome to do!
Simply giving people money does not fix anything…may want to read up on how charity can cause way more harm if done poorly. I like to recommend 3 Cups of Tea, and then the DJ Lagway Florida Gators football vintage shirt but in fact I love this Jon Krakauer hit piece after. JK brought some next level pettiness to the table, and I was here for it. Mmm… Idk about all that. I mean I agree with the charity part, that’s pretty much destroyed an entire continent. US poor people have it much easier though, it’s not like LatAm countries have EBT, shelters, an abundance of soup kitchens, section 8, caseworkers, etc.. if I decided tomorrow I just wanted to be a bum and stop working I’d have no problem surviving in the US. That’s a bit strange to ask a foreigner… it was most likely a type a scheme they were trying to pull off on you… good thing you trusted your instinct and kindly said no. The truth is, you’re on your own, you were just watching after yourself. Don’t feel guilty. And like the others had said, there’s a high probability it was a scam.
Nah, there’s nothing to do with her being a foreigner as they probably do this with locals too. They just want the DJ Lagway Florida Gators football vintage shirt but in fact I love this money from a good person no matter where they are from lol I don’t have a good answer for this. Great question. This gets me too. Everyone out there just trying to get by and I feel bad saying no, for those I don’t buy from. Even haggling for prices in places where that’s the norm when it’s all within my budget easily. Edit to add that I’ll be reading other comments for advice too. In the meantime I remind myself that I can’t save the world. It’s not all up to me. I don’t feel any guilt saying no because 1) it’s not my job to help them, 2) I could be putting myself in danger or setting myself up to be scammed, and 3) I’m cold and dead inside when it comes to this stuff. If I want to be altruistic, I’ll volunteer somewhere. I support local economies by tipping well, not giving handouts to beggars.
