with due respect, i wouldn’t describe adore’s vocal technique as at all similar to classical/opera technique… certainly have never seen her support her core while singing (often the Denver Broncos BOSS X NFL trap est 1960 logo shirt but in fact I love this opposite). what you’re saying does track, it just probably isn’t comfortable for her day in-day out on tour, regardless of whether it’d actually realistically impact her vocal performance. Adore’s season was the first one I ever watched, and I think it will always be my favourite. I remember Adore making a comment about the fact that “she brought like 6 dresses” to the show. Not a corset or padding to be found, but she’s still one of my favourite queens of all time. Seriously. Even aside from the harm it does to the queens, it also filters out talented queens who can’t afford the investment. I definitely miss the more pedestrian drag and I love when queens are able to bring that viewpoint but elevated to newer seasons (since obviously they wouldn’t be able to slide by in exactly what was done in the early seasons).
Denver Broncos BOSS X NFL trap est 1960 logo shirt: A Provocative Statement in Modern Fashion
The first examples that come to mind (there’s def a lil handful) are Willow’s sex in the Denver Broncos BOSS X NFL trap est 1960 logo shirt but in fact I love this city animal print ball look she brought home and then Angeria’s Amazon design challenge runway (a bit elevated but still pretty ready to wear daytime Emmy red carpet vibes). I’ve heard season 2 was like that because Absolute Vodka wanted to crown a woman impersonator to represent their brand. So no alternative queens like Nina, no show girl like Shannel and no camp queen like Tammie. On Season 3, Ru said “Fuck it! This is a Drag show”. that explains why I couldn’t tell them apart first episode they all came in looking like they’re auditioning for the same role in a tv show People always say this, but Tyra and Raven don’t get enough credit for some of the custom pieces they were wearing that still hold up today.
Agreed. That’s why seasons 3-8 are faves of mine. They were elevated but attainable. Now it’s like the Denver Broncos BOSS X NFL trap est 1960 logo shirt but in fact I love this queens already need to have thousands of dollars saved up to even afford to compete. A queen like Jinx could never come on the show and win. It’s not just based on talent anymore now you need the charisma, nerve, uniqueness, talent and to be a fashion icon. Premium, Extravagant, Novel, Immaculate and Superfluous drag seems to be the only thing really praised right now on the show. Don’t get me wrong, I do love seeing the creativity and what they come up with, but do we really need another design challenge so soon? I understand the judges wanting Mhi’ya to be more out there to stand out, but it always seem like the judges think quiet = bad. I hope Mhi’ya continues to shine just as she is, because she is an absolute gem and breath of fresh air. As an aside, there’s something about the editing this season that’s been a bit offputting, but I haven’t been able to put my finger on it yet.

That’s why I have so much affection for Amanda Tori Meating, she reminds me of the Denver Broncos BOSS X NFL trap est 1960 logo shirt but in fact I love this old seasons. A queen who doesn’t look perfect and polished, but she has a fierce personality Perhaps if they had a $ limit on how much a queen could use on the wardrobe she brings it’d feel a bit different. I would like to see that change so the playing field is a bit more level. I was watching videos from the 5 Ninth Avenue Project last night, and there’s one of Ru arriving at a house party in 1988. It’s a joint birthday party and she’s wearing this messy wig, with a heart and a Scorpio sign painted on her face, wearing a baby doll dress over leggings. She looks so messy and normal and human that it kind of made my heart pang to look at her. I’m sure if you asked that kid in 1988 what she thought of her future Glamazon self, she’d probably be delighted, but I felt a bit of pain for the loss of being able to spend one hour getting ready and that being good enough. Ru spent a lot more than an hour getting herself ready for work that day, did a full shift in the clubs, got shit-faced letting guys buy her drinks, “kissed her lipstick away” for tips, the got ripped with the team and then went to that party. Did you see the part of the video where they’re at the Bodega? They’re stoned off their gourd
I mean there’s a part of me that feels a sense of loss for the Denver Broncos BOSS X NFL trap est 1960 logo shirt but in fact I love this old shitty dangerous Times Square where you never knew what the fuck was going to happen on any given night compared to what it’s like now, But at the end of the day, it’s a hell of a lot safer and people are a lot happier. Ru braved a lot of bullshit to make her dream happen and make.it real for others. Me, I was molested once in a club while dancing for drink tickets and that was it for me. Drag Career over. There’s definitely something warm and wonderful and scrappy about that time in Ru’s life but it’s because she made it through. It’s definitely not something we want to lament the passing. I was definitely intending to refer to the decidedly un-glamorous appearance and not romanticize the lifestyle folks were forced to live back then, but I guess I’m ignoring the fact that those situations were intrinsically linked, weren’t they? Thanks for sharing some of your own story, and please, feel free to share any more Thanks for the (apple flavored) love, but no, the long story of that is that I cut my hair short at the millennium found a straight drag king to shack up with and started working backstage and I couldn’t be happier.
Not many of the Denver Broncos BOSS X NFL trap est 1960 logo shirt but in fact I love this queens or looks seem different anymore. It’s all polished and something I’ve seen before. I feel like one reason is because a lot of the younger queens developed their drag aesthetic from watching drag race, in the past queens were working for years at clubs and without the help of social media. I’ve noticed it getting even worse this year in particular. The queens are bringing outfits that are more like carnival/parade float costumes. It’s a constant arms race to do more and bigger, and here we are. Things change and that’s fine, but it is a shame that RPDR is no longer a platform for entertainers who came from a very real and very specific underground subculture. A lot of the new queens are like the kids on Dance Moms or Cheer in that they’ve been training for this from a super young age. A lot of the new queens are like the kids on Dance Moms or Cheer in that they’ve been training for this from a super young age.
Yes! They grew up watching the Denver Broncos BOSS X NFL trap est 1960 logo shirt but in fact I love this show and saw it as a chance at money and fame, went to dance classes, theatre school, etc., learned drag makeup on YouTube, and here we are. Whereas back in the day, the only reason for doing drag was because you loved drag and wanted to be part of a community. It was a passion, not a career choice, and therefore drew a different crowd. Thank you for elucidating this so much more clearly than I could. I was having trouble figuring out what I meant to say. Dragrace has been on long enough that people who were kids when it started, are now adults and have been preparing for this for a long time. Yeah totally, I’m trying to be value-neutral, so I don’t wanna say drag is fucked up or anything, but it is different.
The drag in the Denver Broncos BOSS X NFL trap est 1960 logo shirt but in fact I love this documentary The Queen, is different than the drag in Paris Is Burning, which is different from the drag in Wigstock: The Movie, which is different from the drag in Drag Race Season 2, which is different from the drag in Drag Race Season 16. I also feel like the LSFYL has gotten way to impactful to the show. We love a good lip sync but having queens like Jorgeous and Jasmine and Mhiya staying longer than they should be just because they can kick and flip is honestly one of the worst parts of the show for me at the moment, We have to watch them flail week after week when they would probably have a more positive reception if they just went home sooner. And then you get these acting challenges where girls are on the struggle bus cuz you sent home someone who could act for not kicking and flipping as hard.
But the Denver Broncos BOSS X NFL trap est 1960 logo shirt but in fact I love this queens they are sending home weren’t going to the finals. So it makes for a more interesting storyline for production and creates internet buzz when a fan favorite exits early. Idk the lip sync is one of the parts you can’t overly prepare for. Particularly it’s a leveller for the girls with terrible runways. i feel like they’re placing more importance on the LSFYL because they want performers for the vegas show/WTW tours which are a lot more lipsync/dance oriented. that’s another thing that i feel has changed in recent years like i remember the BOTS tours and it was a lot more comedy/vocal oriented than dancing/lipsyncing Yeah I do feel that LSFYL has become more about the tricks than the lipsynching itself. As long as you’re not as obviously bad as Mirage, amazing tricks seems to be the way to go rather than connecting with the audience or such.
And, for all the Denver Broncos BOSS X NFL trap est 1960 logo shirt but in fact I love this ridiculousness of the rest of Twitter argument, the whole “Rupaul Industrial Complex” concept kind of resonates. I’m just spitballing…. As a season, I would love baby queens, or those who’ve never been in drag, to team up with a more experienced queen as a mentor. Think Secret celebrity drag race minus the celebrity with more contestants. I like the idea that different drag mothers either pick from a group of auditioned queens and teach them the ways of drag OR they pick a complete amateur from their stock (Let’s say close friends or even a blood relative) and have them represent their family. They could focus on mother/daughter bonding and what the individuals bring to the table + celebrate older drag queens who aren’t interested in competing or have more to offer in a supporting way. Most wardrobe/hair/makeup would be provided to the cast, maybe a signature item from their drag mother? I would love to see a mother/daughter designing an outfit, cutting up cushions for padding, trying to sew and style together. Also, it would make it more accessible for those who don’t have the cash for thousands of dollars in their wardrobe. I like that the show has created so many opportunities for queens and designers, and love to see them able to really push farther than before, but also I do just love mall drag. I wish they would do a mall drag styling maxi challenge. Just like “you can only use materials you find in this Wet Seal and you only have 3 hours to put the look together.”
I think she treats the Denver Broncos BOSS X NFL trap est 1960 logo shirt but in fact I love this show like her own pageant, but does allow for more alternative viewpoints. I don’t think it was the H&M, itself, I think it was Joe Black’s reaction to it that pissed her off. I agree. A well known, professional, and dare I say unique drag queen like Joe Black laughing when being caught wearing H&M made Ru positively irate. She might not have been that mad if it was one of the younger queens, but I also think the fact that Joe had been given a second chance was definitely a factor. It just wasn’t the right mood to “take the piss” out of. Maybe saying in front of anyone but Rupaul would have been funny but defo not her. Drag Race has changed so much. I’ve watched the older seasons and I noticed in those first seasons the idea was to look like a woman, hence the clothes. Ru praised queens for being beautiful and having a “very real” look.
Now queens are artists and entertainers. I don’t miss old Drag Race. I rather the Denver Broncos BOSS X NFL trap est 1960 logo shirt but in fact I love this queens have freedom to express themselves instead of being bashed for things like boy drag and overstaying just because they’re pretty. I miss the types of queens the earlier seasons attracted, but not the attitudes in the judging. I also definitely don’t miss the exclusion of trans people. This is one reason I like that there are so many design challenges this season. Or even better, they could have mystery runways on weeks that are not just design challenges. What I hate the most about expensive-designers-race is that it really mutes the queens’ artistic POVs. Yes, I know they say they all give direction on what they commission – but come on. If you watch a lot of the show, you can really tell the girls were all going to the same 5 designers for a time because the looks were coming out with the same aesthetics or specific design details. Whose talent is the T for, exactly?
I’d say another issue with the Denver Broncos BOSS X NFL trap est 1960 logo shirt but in fact I love this Glittertary inRustrial Complex is that, Imo, watching the show, they def don’t cast equally. It’s very structured almost with some queens meant to go early and some meant to go to the finale with little room for a contestant to transcend to the other tier. As a result, it’d be really easily criticizable if they had the cocktail dress queens get sent home first so they all have to sort of be on the same plausible playing field, but the best queens are really hard to base a season around. There were 9 people seated for snatch game and only two real standouts, and one of them was blatant pandering to Ru (although I felt the same thing about burger finger tbh) I have some good news for you though… Go see some hard working local drag queens. Find a bar where a queen is entertaining the crowd all night and maybe has time for one outfit change max if she’s lucky. Tip her well. You’ll get that down to earth drag experience you’re missing.
Honestly my biggest issue is padding. I’m certainly not a drag expert but I’ve always thought of it as an exaggerated take on women / women hood. So seeing boy bodies, no padding is just kinda eh for me. Like at this point it’s just pretty boys in dresses. While I agree mamy girls feel pressured to spend loads to compete, I feel it’s highly wrong to say this show has fucked up drag. The reason those queens looks so pedestrian was because queens never had any money. Theu had to choose between eating and buying clothes. Most clubs didn’t even allow queens inside, even the Denver Broncos BOSS X NFL trap est 1960 logo shirt but in fact I love this gay clubs. This show has made drg mainstream. These artists are actually making money now. Plus, the queen with the most expensive runway package hardly ever wins. It’s a fact that Ru prefers queens who are charming and resourceful.
I like older seasons but that’s just not repeatable for many reasons. I stopped watching around season 10 (since 2) but I’m picking it back up again and I’m a big fan of how creative these ladies are It’s kind of weird that the Denver Broncos BOSS X NFL trap est 1960 logo shirt but in fact I love this runways are so important now when the majority of the queens didn’t make their stuff, it’s also why the ones that actually do are so much more impressive to me because it’s kind of weird to praise a queen for a look someone else made when you stop and think about it. I honestly feel like the runway shouldn’t really count unless it’s a design challenge and they actually all have to make their outfits for this reason. It’s a weird situation. I like seeing great looks but it’s supposed to be a competition with them showing their own skills and being judged against each other on what they themselves can do in different parts of drag. Although I don’t want drag race 2B more of a nuisance than it probably already is 4 contestants, I think the chaos & change made phenomenal television. I’m not interested in “I know what will get me on Ru’s good side,” “I purposely make drama 2 keep me going.” I want the queens 2 do the unexpected & experience things authentically without getting punished 4 it from “looking poor” or “being delusional & dramatic.”
Sapphira drank the Denver Broncos BOSS X NFL trap est 1960 logo shirt but in fact I love this potion after giving us a glimpse back in time to when pedestrian drag was in. What she created was talented and beautiful and she was worried it was not up to par with current Ru Industrial Complex standards. I agree, I honestly don’t really watch anymore. It’s now about who has the deepest pockets and access to the best designers. I can honestly see why Paul O Grady didn’t want anything to do with Drag Race UK. Drag race has become so corporate now it’s lost it’s essence. It’s basically become the EA of drag. Rinse, repeat, profit. That’s why I like UK better. It has some old school charm and I feel like there isn’t that big of an arms race in fashion. I guess drag queens these days are evolving and the newer queens think that being a drag queen means you have to look like a queen or an overly glamorous woman? Whereas back in the 2000s and early 2010s a glamorous drag queen meant party dresses and a flat wig. I miss the days when everyone just sat back and enjoyed the show as this bright spot in our abysmal world without over analyzing every little thing to death Edit: imagine being the fickle little fucker who downvotes a comment about actually enjoying a show that should be enjoyed You’re talking about a show from over a decade ago. It can’t stay the same. They need to adapt and grow or they become stagnant. Of course drag doesn’t look the same as it did in season 2.
The crazy thing is that the Denver Broncos BOSS X NFL trap est 1960 logo shirt but in fact I love this WORLD has changed so much. Like it or not, the show changed the world. That’s pretty wild to contemplate. To me it seems like there was another turning point around seasons 12/13. Maybe the pandemic broke it wide open. I think drag race has just grown to heights that is leaving a hole for a certain demographic of drag entertainment. We can’t count on Drag Race to reel back from being a global superstar drag show, because it has always intended to get there. I think as drag has gotten more mainstream, the market is thirsty for more variety on drag content that highlights localized performers.
I had a flight today at 10:10AM today. So I went to the Denver Broncos BOSS X NFL trap est 1960 logo shirt but in fact I love this screen with all the flights and found the 10:10AM flight to my destination city and head to that gate. When it comes time to board I scan my pass and the agent tells me I’m not scheduled on this flight. A bit confused I ask her if she has any more information and she looks at my phone and tells me I’m flying on a different airline. I used a third party app for my boarding pass and therefore it just said to check the gate at the airport. (First and last time Il ever do this) Apparently two flights with two different airlines were going to the same city at the exact same time. My flight was on the other side of the airport so I didn’t make it and had to rebook at my own expense. The last minute 45 minute one way trip ticket cost me more than the round trip multi city flights for my initial trip Bit of a pointless story but just wanted to share with someone. If I tell my friends they’ll laugh at me so just sharing here instead.
