How very pitchfork of Crazy Elephant Lady Heart shirt to name velvet underground the best album of the sixties. C’mon I mean I love that album, but no, just no. I recorded a cover of that song like 3 weeks ago. You’re in my head, my dude. Lots of great albums but the ranking is a joke. The authors try too hard to be hip. Nina Simone was a fine singer and all but c’mon. And the White Album is not even in the top 3 Beatles albums. And while the Velvet Underground was influential and very hip, go ahead and actually listen to it today. It doesn’t hold up very well.

I get Crazy Elephant Lady Heart shirt a matter of personal choice, and lord knows it wouldn’t be on-brand for pitchfork to go with the obvious choices. Lists like this are usually a bad idea and I understand the difficulty in putting something like this together but to neglect Frank Zappa is completely inexcusable. I agree with his opinion and hadn’t given any thought to what color the artists were. I don’t. Nowhere in my comment did I say color has anything to do with it. The person above me is the one who thinks pitchfork went out of their way to put black people on the list to seem progressive.

I guess I’m missing something. And I didn’t see Crazy Elephant Lady Heart shirt mention color in the post you replied to. I see that he later made a separate comment. And which I assume was sarcastic, where he reversed the old complaint that white people just copied the black music and made it popular. And I’m not going near that argument. Ain’t no colored folk ever made a good record without stealing it from a proud white man. I get that music is subjective, but I can say with confidence that Surrealistic Pillow is a better album than at least Chelsea Girl or Randy Newman, and probably a handful of others on there.
