This is at a major, profitable company, and they are pressuring more and more teams to switch to hot-desking, while simultaneously trying to enforce specific in-office days. I’m sorry you had to drop kids at school, but how is that my problem?” There are always going to be outlier situations like yours where the need for faster hardware is needed. From an IT Department perspective, I’ve usually been on the side of those who need the faster or nicer hardware for X, Y, Z. Video editing, photo editing, software engineering, and big data for example. In other cases, I could definitely make the argument that less expensive hardware is needed.
