I was in college and worked at that college from 2008-2015. Well I was too young at that time to know what the general view was, so I can’t really answer your question. However, I do believe this poster is quite bad at teaching consent. It was a bumbling early effort from a university to minimize thier culpability for campus assault, being re-upped solely for the purpose of enraging you and validating men who feel victimized when even sober women in 2023 don’t want to have sex with them.

May as well get worked up over the Awesome als Awareness We Fight Together Blue Rainbow T-Shirt but in fact I love this transparently racist campaigns against weed in the 1930s. Those were a generally accepted view. Our information and understanding changes. Thank fucking god. This was just a poster that is reposted because it generates a lot of emotionally charged dialogue. It came out at a time when colleges and universities were trying to push back hard against the public image of them being complicit with rape culture. Naturally, instead of cracking down on rape, they thought a good PR campaign was in order. Asking what society felt about this, or if it was accepted, will just be a mixed bag of opinions, just like it was back then. Most people just laughed because the intent behind it all was so obvious. The universities didn’t actually give a shit. They just didn’t want to be seen as the baddies, so they pushed around ideas to show they were at the cutting edge of dismantling rape culture. Edit: The fact this is being downvoted just reinforces the fact redditors or botfarms just downvote anything that portrays the world in a negative light. Even if wholly valid. Reddit is a fucking weird echo chamber.
