So a VPN service can’t expect success just from being good because that won’t be obvious to users. as a rule, I’ll never try anything recommended in a podcast. those companies are all just paying for ads and I hear most of them suck Back when I was a big roosterteeth fan they did some podcast ads for Casper mattresses and Me Undies. But if it’s them making someone whose voice accompanies me to sleep and whose anecdotes I know by heart, say “I, Whiteguy B. Podcaster personally endorse this product, oh, so much, I’ve been using it since before they were a sponsor, oh my God guys, really, this product raised me since I was a baby, oh man, I’d marry this product if it was legal and I will when it is”, yeah no, that’s such shameless manipulation.

BetterHelp wouldn’t let me cancel my subscription that I had to sign up for (free trial) until my bank blocked their payments, this was a year or so ago and they still send me emails about my payments not going through. Right? I’d never use NordVPN or SquareSpace or similar companies that sponsor every other podcast and YT video in existence. I firmly believe that the more a product is advertised, the worse it usually is. Good products know they are good and know that people who have used their product will tell other interested people about it.
