They won’t likely get rich – but they will be able to learn a decent living. Depends on location. In the nordic countries you can live a decent life even unemployed. In the US though, not so much. What does being unemployed have to do with hard-workers? They will not remain unemployed for extended periods anyway. (Assuming they’re in decent health.) Hard worker does not mean employable. You will be hard pressed to find an American network engineer with a felony conviction. Most end up short order cooks. If you want to call that ’employed’, then you’re missing the whole point. In the very, very, very rare minority of individuals who did manage to bootstrap themselves into success, in which case, it’s clearly an example of “exception that proves the rule”. Some people have an edge or a harder row to hoe. But being a hard-worker will make you reasonably successful 99% of the time. Yeah, there’s two fallacies: the first is that success is entirely due a person’s intrinsic virtue (aka work ethic) and the second is that success is independent of hard work so there’s no point trying. They’re both comforting ideas because either way there’s no personal growth required from you. Reality is more disappointing. Chances are you won’t be lucky enough to achieve any degree of success without hard work, but even if you work hard things can still go wrong. I know plenty of hard workers in hard times. You’re intuition is off. Your premise isn’t true. It’s propaganda. Bullshit. I like how you’re claiming these things as if they’re based off real world data and not just what’s going on in your head.Fuck yeah dude. People are so stupid in this way. I recently got into a good career and people talk to me different and it kinda pisses me off. I’ve been the 54 studio Manhattan new york 1977 1966 shirt but I will buy this shirt and I will love this same hard working guy the whole time but now that I’m in something that’s looked on a little better than retail now I’m finally becoming a man? Fuck off people. I used to drink 2L+ a day, turns out I was self medicating for ADHD, real drugs are cheaper and much lower calorie (dropped over 40lbs almost overnight) , if you can get the healthcare to diagnose and prescribe the right thing I honestly thought I had ‘grown out of it’ as everyone had predicted would happen when I was growing up, but I was trying to make major changes (quitting smoking cutting down or eliminating coke). Started having mondo symptoms (difficulty with focus, nervous energy, inability to be bored, difficulties switching tasks and self motivating). It was my mother who saw me and asked if maby my ADHD was ‘back’. Laughed it off at the time and then the slow realization of..OMFG, my life was in shambles till I started the coke and smoke routine… Been a years long road getting everything nailed down but I’m now about a month non smoking (using patches). No cola except for RARE occasions. I dropped 100lbs at my best (40-50lbs from cola habit, the rest diet and exercise) , back up a bit now since quitting smoking but once the patches are done I will concentrate on that and finally be the me I want to be AND able to function! 🙂
