I was your typical emo goth kid. I definitely 100% would have benefited from social services. My home life was extremely bad. But this was in Texas. Where they don’t give a fuck about a kids home life. If I was the teacher I would have asked me about it. I could have shown him my sketchbook which was mostly full of “album covers” I drew for my shitty high school band. I tried to explain it to the police and the judge but they did not want to hear it. I will say after this incident I did start to get in trouble a lot. Met some other troubled kids in military school and we started stealing cars together and shit. Dabbled in drugs. Was arrested a few more times. I ran away when I was 16 and moved states to start over when i turned 18. Doing good now that I’m away from there. Haven’t been in any trouble in 19 years.

Yeah that’s what I was thinking. I was very depressed in high school and my French teacher referred my to an outside counselor. Maybe I didn’t make it clear, but my French teacher genuinely was looking out for me – this was when my parents were getting divorced and my mom was basically losing it and neglectful… I’m glad for her.
