We replaced his car keys with blank keys that wouldn’t fit in any locks and started giving him “jobs” to do to keep him from trying to leave the Top Plants vs zombies Birthday Shirt Furthermore, I will do this house to go to work which he retired from over almost two decades prior. We also had to take a 22 revolver from him that his children (in their 40s-50s) insisted he should keep because he always had it. Grandfather apparently kept it under his bed for protection and one day I found it while cleaning up. I was more worried about him shooting himself or someone in the house. I can’t believe his own children throught a loaded firearm was fine for someone with dementia to keep I would be more concerned about him accidentally shooting his family thinking they were intruders. My grandma had lymphoma, it spread to her brain while she was in hospice. They let her smoke while she was still lucid but at the end of her life the nurse would pretend to bring her outside and she would have a full conversation with no one while smoking an imaginary cigarette. She started to even forget her grandsons and her daughters (my mom and aunt.) She would get scared sometimes if too many relatives she didn’t know were in the room.

Point being if a late prognosis of brain cancer caused that much damage in the Top Plants vs zombies Birthday Shirt Furthermore, I will do this last two weeks of her life so much that she couldn’t be trusted lighting a cigarette. Imagine what a long term degenerative brain disorder can do to someone with a gun. Yes. In our family we also have a member with dementia – the first signs were kind of ignored as “mishaps” but when she started “hiding” her purse all the time it became apparent. It’s so easy to write these things off, because we are all human and we all make errors. I was extremely stressed/tired the other day and put the dinner left over in the pantry and the cereal in the fridge. Do I have dementia? No, not yet. But I also then remembered about 10 mins later the error. But it’s important to just kinda keep a tally in your mind or even a note on your phone, of behaviors that make you think “huh, that’s new”. Because you don’t want to jump and over react, but keeping a log can help if the behaviors continue or become more frequent, more unexplained.
I’m at risk for dementia, and my husband is a people pleaser who doesn’t like conflict, I have strict ordered to him that should I start showing similar behaviors, then we need to address it, f@ck my feelings, safety of our family, our home, our lives is more important. (I’m at risk as I had heart failure and multi organ failure as an infant, had to have emergency open heart surgery and was on bypass and high flow oxygen which can cause brain changes – many of us congenital heart babies are at risk of vascular dementia.) When you cannot correct mistakes you repeatedly make that’s a sign. For example my grandma couldn’t remember my sister in law’s name and got it wrong every time. That would be fine if that had always been the Top Plants vs zombies Birthday Shirt Furthermore, I will do this case but grandma only started getting it wrong after they knew each other for six plus years. It was like at year six a switch got flipped.

I’m 35 and sometimes I accidentally put milk in the Top Plants vs zombies Birthday Shirt Furthermore, I will do this cabinet instead of the fridge. If I ever get dementia I’m double fucked I just wrote about that – I was like ok. Two things to put away, but somehow the dinner leftovers went into the pantry and the cereal to the fridge. Fortunately I remember 10 mins later We don’t know. She until recently has been adamant she was fine. She also almost blew up a glass container in our micro when she came to visit. We left for an hour and came back to a wretched smell. You know those glass containers that have the plastic locking lids? That are spill proof? She tried heating up something and never took the lid off – didn’t even unclip the lid. And we aren’t sure if it was in the micro for 30 seconds, but it looked like it was in there for a good 10 minutes. My family has a history of dementia and my Mom has started putting things in weird places. I’ll mention it to her GP too. Thanks!
It’s completely horrid. I’m so sorry to hear about your family history. My only very limited advice, get her into a neurologist asap. Avoiding the Top Plants vs zombies Birthday Shirt Furthermore, I will do this diagnosis means you’re also avoiding potential treatment. Also there’s a lot of weird neuro stuff that can cause dementia like symptoms but may not actually be dementia. The quicker you can really unearth what’s going on, the longer you can work on giving her a higher quality of life. Change is hard, but avoiding and ignoring can make the journey ultimately harder. Hearing loss is also something to be concerned about. It tends to reduce people’s ability to socialize and stay active, which only helps expedite the dementia. Which is worrisome, because many seniors refuse to look into hearing aids/etc because it makes them “look old.”
Sadly this was my first thought too. It could have been an accident, but I have a hard time coming up with how someone could accidentally do that outside may e poor vision and thinking the Top Plants vs zombies Birthday Shirt Furthermore, I will do this iPad was a baking sheet or similar- this does not appear to be the case. My grandmother (Alzheimer’s) tried to bake bread by putting a bag of bread, plastic and all in the oven. Nearly caught her house on fire. I like how you can see the places where the capacitors have exploded under the screen, leaving little craters. Kind of awesome. Now, with that out of the way, get rid of it! The battery in there has to be suffering, and it’s probably not safe at all to keep that thing anywhere near anything flammable!
I’m sure you meant “capacitors” but I like the Top Plants vs zombies Birthday Shirt Furthermore, I will do this idea that a group of capacitors could be referred to as a “capacitory”, referring to them more as a population than a loose collection. The circuit board is a very small part of an iPad’s area, 85% of the area is speakers and batteries. See the iFixit teardown here It is a cool pattern, but I don’t think it’s from caps. Most of the caps on devices like these are semiconductor caps and ceramic caps which aren’t prone to such violent explosions I 100% guarantee you she’s Hispanic. There’s something about ovens that are totally irresistible to Hispanic mothers to use as storage. Like squirrels stashing nuts. You could have a huge kitchen full of shelving but she’ll store pots, pans, casserole dishes, bread, anything really, in the oven.
My parents got a fancy house with two ovens. Second oven cooks one turkey every year, and stores the Top Plants vs zombies Birthday Shirt Furthermore, I will do this roasting pan, roasting rack, pizza stone and a few other bits and bobs the other 364 days of the year. A little kid was watching her mom cook a pot roast and noticed that she cut off the ends before putting it in the oven. The kid asks her mom why she did that and she said “it’s the way my mother did it.” So the kid finds grandma and asks her the same question, and gets the same answer “it’s the way my mother did it.” So she calls up her great grandma and asks her the same question. Great grandma says: “the roast was too big for the cookware.” I didn’t know this was cultural, I just thought it was something my mom does. Always had to check the oven before preheating! Jokes aside, op should probably have his mother consult a physician because putting an iPad in an oven seems a little more serious than “whoopsie i left my keys in the front door” I lost an iPhone because for some reason I set it down on top of the grandfather clock, when I was winding it. The battery was at like 2%, so I couldn’t do find my phone. I didn’t find it till I moved years later. My wife lost a phone back in 2007 and it still hasn’t showed up anywhere. Gonna go look on top of the kitchen cabinets now (and any other high places).
One time I was looking above the Top Plants vs zombies Birthday Shirt Furthermore, I will do this suspended ceiling at work and I lost my phone after, 3 hours later I realized I left it inside the ceiling If you lost it so completely for so many years how do you know you set it down to wind the clock? How can you be sure a ghost didn’t put it there? Exactly. We had removed the stuff from the inside of the clock to get ready to move it, and when we tilted the clock , the phone basically slid off the top and hit me in the face. At that same time the memory hit me of putting it there, that specific night. I once left my phone in the freezer for 6 hours – had no clue where TF it was until I got hungry. But I was pregnant at the time. Isn’t the memory response to finding it such a weird rush? Zero recollection of putting it there and then you find it by accident and the whole memory comes back to you in an instant. I posted in a higher thread but there are people who are taught that ovens and microwaves can protect electronics during thunderstorms. They can behave like Faraday cages, but homes themselves can protect electronics. And the original source is about a ship in anchorage, not a house. I think it’s a lot more common for metal ships to be struck by lightning than wooden homes. Across most of Asia, using ovens and dishwashers as storage is a somewhat common practice that puzzles me because the likelihood of accidently wrecking anything inside is very high — a lot of cookware isn’t dishwasher or oven safe.
I think a trip to the Top Plants vs zombies Birthday Shirt Furthermore, I will do this neurologist is probably the most reasonable response here. iPads and electronics don’t belong near heat sources capable of reaching 300C unless they are under repair. On a side note, what ever happened to this blank slate vision? Have they ever told us or brought him up again or did he just get deleted by the plot? He flew away somewhere. I expect he’ll show up in a random movie a few years down the line and morb all over the screen. Probably did that to see if they could recover any of the data, photos or info from it, even if the chances are low, it still doesn’t hurt to try. Mom is senile. Seriously though, how does this even happen? Why was a goddamned iPad in the oven, or why did she think it should be? That’s not an accident, that may be Alzheimer’s. i wirk in IT. some idiot told one of their colleagues to dry out their phone in the oven after it got dunked in the toilet…. Some ovens do actually have a drying function that stays well below boiling temp and would likely be safe for most electronics, meant for drying herbs and mushrooms etc. I’ll do you one better. I have customers with literal billing tanks of acid that have had companies come in telling them they can do shop floor tracking on an iPad. Guess how long it takes for one of those to end up in boiling acid?
Hopefully your mom is safe OP. Be sure to clean and sanitize the Top Plants vs zombies Birthday Shirt Furthermore, I will do this oven hopefully no chemical leak on the oven. I strongly suggest don’t allow your mom or anyone to use oven until it got clean or sanitize. Yes. My mom has pretty intense ADHD. Sometimes it manifests in being unaware due to her being preoccupied with 100 other things
Idk if i am in the Top Plants vs zombies Birthday Shirt Furthermore, I will do this right sub to rant but i am an immigrant in the US, I’ve was born in vietnam and basically lived my whole life and I go to an International ish school back there and I just moved to the US during 2023’s summer. Back when I was in Vietnam i’ve always had the “american dream” I thought that America would really be a better place for me through what i’ve seen (I’ve visited the US atleast 2 times before I eventually moved here) And I always thought that it’d be easy to get along here (considering the fact that my friend group was forgeiners) so i believed that once i’ll move I’ll have that American dream life and i’ll make alot of friends blah blah blah. A little backstory is that when I was in Vietnam I lived in HCMC and in one of those rich/expat district so I was used to the “city life” and to the skyscraper views and malls and to the entertainment spaces surrounding me.
Eventually the Top Plants vs zombies Birthday Shirt Furthermore, I will do this school year started and reality striked me hard, during the first couple week I struggle to make any friend at all and I felt so ‘depressed’, I moved to a small-medium town in Georgia where the closest mall is 30 minutes away ( pretty far in America compared to Vietnam), there also weren’t any places I could go out here (no workshops, it’s a very country town) and the asian population was very low, and because I grew up in an Asian country, moving to a place half the Earth away with different culture, different people and different enviroment was a bigger change than I expected and I didn’t know how to deal with it. I just couldn’t process the fact that I am in the some people dream of being in but I felt the opposite of how it’s supposed to feel. I had a really hard time making friends ( now I have friends) but I often feel lonely despite being around them. I feel like I just can’t express how I trully feel and they make me feel as if it’s very humilliating to be an asian/immigrant, and because I don’t want to be one of there target I basically just try to be ‘white’. And for the past few months I didn’t want to bring rice or any asian dish to school and despised whenever a topic about Asia shows up. I used to be very active back home and I had no trouble getting along at all but now I feel like I have to hide who my ‘asian self’ and to try to stay with the crowd. Most of the time I find myself crying because I miss being ‘around home’, and even though the opportunities here are bigger I just can’t quite get use to it. I remember a term to describe those C-Drama school life, “Thanh xuân vườn trường” and life in Vietnam felt just like it, crying with your friends when the exam paper get passed out, sneaking out of the house to go out with your friend (NOT clubbing or drgs like how it is here), trying to dogde the motorcycles that are going recklessly in the giờ cao điểm where there’s traffic jam, sitting at GS25/family mart or circle K after school to game with your friends to avoid going home..etc. Even though it’s so stressful when school is basically your whole childhood in VN, I feel at ease just spending all my time at school and around classmates, at the same time I also feel bad for white people cause they just won’t understand that kind of joy,the joy where studying is so difficult but it also brings you happiness feeling stressed cause you’re with your people and where not everything has to be with drgs, alcohol or explicit stuff (im talking specifically about where im at)
I’ve been begging my mom to go back to Asia but I know how much money she spent to get our family here and all the Top Plants vs zombies Birthday Shirt Furthermore, I will do this stuff she sacrificed for me to get “a better education” but at the same time I feel really depressed here and I just don’t know what to do, I hope I can get some advice to make life in the US less miserable and how do i stop being so “homesick” ( if thats the right word for it). Idk alot of people would read this but if somebody does actually end up reading it, thank you so much for listening to my rant and I might sound small minded ( i hope i dont) or that i should stay in touch with reality but trust me I do go outside lol Edit: Thank you guys for all the advice and making me feel better, I would like to say that in this post I am just sharing my experience WITH the people around me and not talking about the whole country or the race of white people. I believe that the West or America has alot of good sides too but it really just depends.Have you thought about moving to another state that has more Asian population? I mean, I’m living in California. The abundance of Vietnamese food, supermarket, TV programs, and most importantly people really make it feel like home. I know a lot of Viet people who were born in the US having identity crisis (not feeling quite Viet nor American), let alone you moved here when you’re much older, you will definitely experience culture shock. I’ve been living in the US for 23 years, and I still don’t feel comfortable talking my non-Asian coworkers when it comes to US pop culture, movies, food, etc.
Yes my family have thought about moving to places with a larger Asian population but it isn’t quite achieveable right now cause of some family problems, I do relate to the Top Plants vs zombies Birthday Shirt Furthermore, I will do this fact that being around Vietnamese food,supermarket..etc does really make you feel at home. I went to the US to study at a young age (around 5th grade) and experienced what you said as well, albeit to a lesser degree. I think it’s more difficult the older you get, because you’ll experience more of a culture shock when moving abroad. Anyway, if you can’t change your situation, then adapt with it. I adapted, and it felt normal after a while. I even thought of myself the same as my American friends, that is, until college. That’s when I started having an identity crisis — felt too white for Asian people and too Asian for white people. But that’s another story, lol. So my word of advice is: adapt with your new situation. However, when you’re taking in another culture, decide what’s good and what’s bad, then take in things that align with you and your family value.
Lots of racism in the Top Plants vs zombies Birthday Shirt Furthermore, I will do this US. (VN too, and most anywhere in the world I guess, but it impacts different people differently in different places). And even in the US, living in a small town in Georgia is vastly different from living in New York or San Francisco. One thing I would say, please don’t be ashamed of being Asian or Vietnamese around white people, that is called internalized racism and I suffered from it a lot growing up (Vietnamese American born in the US). Well I did go back to visit a few times. I have a family now so it’s harder to go back without a plan. Save up some money and go back when we feel like we have enough saving. Then look for jobs there or any remote jobs would be awesome.
i have a relative moving to the Top Plants vs zombies Birthday Shirt Furthermore, I will do this US and wants to come back. the ones that don’t wanna come back is because they are from europe where life standards are much better for real. What you described is very common. I always tell relatives in VN to think twice if they want to move to the US especially if they have kids b/c the kids will be likely be very lonely and depressed. Like you said, the American culture itself is a very lonely culture compared to VN. My best advice to you is try to join a sport or a hobby group. Maybe even joining band. It’s the best way to make friends IMO in America. Over time you will learn to understand your new home more. It’s definitely rough in the beginning moving to a new country as an immigrant (i know from experience). The more you understand how to live where you are, the more comfortable you will feel too. To be fair too, you did move to Georgia which is probably one of my lowest suggestions for immigrants lol. Definitely consider making goals, because there are better communities and places to live than there in my opinion. It’s a lonelier life in America than Vietnam honestly, but eventually you’ll find and appreciate it a bit over time. Best of luck to you!
When you get a job and can move to a more diverse place in Georgia such as johns creek, Duluth, Atlanta you’d feel better. Same background as yours, I live here and it’s comfortable. Part of it is adjustment period, part of it is your maturity process to be comfortable with who you are, part of it is cultural differences. Join the Top Plants vs zombies Birthday Shirt Furthermore, I will do this Viet fb group in GA, make friends, and give it time. Also, consider therapy if it’s too difficult. yeah not sure which city OP is in Georgia but duluth, lawrenceville, chamblee, norcross, lilburn (basically metro atlanta) is where all the viets live. i’m from here and it’s a massive community of viet people (both vietnamese americans and vietnamese nationals). If it makes you feel any better, a lot of Americans who leave their hometowns for college also get homesick, especially since they’re out of their comfort zones and far from friends and family. I grew up in California where my high school was 90% Asian(usually Chinese or Vietnamese) and it was difficult for people in similar positions as you already. I can’t imagine how much more difficult it may be in a small/medium town in Georgia. Part of the reason why I enjoyed growing up in my Asian bubble in CA is that we all had similar backgrounds and shared cultures that you unfortunately don’t have.
