Elderly people love being around kids. When we take ours to see their grandfather all of the other residents smile at them. I would be ok if neither of my kids had children, I would be sad at not getting to hold another baby or watch them grow. Doesn’t really matter if they have my DNA or not. Seeing youth around is nice and reminds you of your own. My uncle got with his girlfriend when her son was around 4 so our entire family had to adjust to having a young kid around again. My grandma loved having him around since she hadn’t gotten to have a young grandchild in just over a decade at that point. And then a few years later my “nephew” entered the picture and she was over the moon to have a baby around. Well she has kids and grandkids. Kind of seems like the epitome of selfishness to be like “ok want great grandkids too now, get with it”. People are that way though. My mom I think resents my wife and I choosing not to have kids. When I got snipped in my 30s she even had the balls to call me and basically tell me “you’re going to regret that”. My sister ended up having a kid so it’s all better now. I mean she still resents me for it. I can tell. But at least now she has a baby to fuck with.
