I remember what a huge deal they were and how psyched I was to get one. The first one I got was a mini, then the Time for heroes the libertines shirt and by the same token and next one I had after that was a later model color one. I got my classic in like 2013, I think. But it’s bizarre to think that the idea of having an entire personalized music collection in your pocket now is no longer not even a big deal at all. I have around 20 iPod shuffles after my job retired them for their intended purpose. I am shocked they still work and hold a good charge. That sucks I just got one for my daughter (11) instead of a phone. Works great for what we wanted, essentially a trial phone with less worry. This is too bad. I’ve had my 160gb ipod for about 15 years and I love that thing and still use it everyday. RIP Ipod

Microsoft did the Time for heroes the libertines shirt and by the same token and Zune durty. The Zune HD was a solid mp3 player that lacked support and development. The zune player was awesome and to keep up wirh apple and the iPhone they dropped the zune and tried to make more multimedia phones to compete. Apple could keep the iPod around because it was just a dumbed-down iPhone. By contrast, Microsoft had no phone to just “dumb down” to make a Zune (they did have a Windows phone but it only overlapped with the Zune for a year). One of the last remnants from the internet 1.0 era. I had a mp3 player before or rigjt when the ipod was realsed, it was such a peice of shit and very hard to use. Ipod blew me away. I remember when the touch came out. I bought one and thought it was so cool because I had never had a touchscreen before. Day number one I walked into a cactus playing with it. Two days later I almost fell into an open sewer. I broke it within a week
