His grandparents put him into the Thomas and Mack Center the dope Jam tour shirt and I will buy this regular track classes with the lower-level students and goof-offs and basically said he had to earn his way back into the pre-AP classes. That was completely asinine, as in my class, he just acted a-fool with the rest of them. The science teacher across the hall and I tried something- we put him into her class during that same block, as she had pre-AP. Well, wouldn’t you know, he was so locked-in over there and LOVED it and performed so well. Unfortunately, no one would allow or wanted his schedule to be changed, so he eventually ended up at the alternative school for a few weeks. That was in the 2018-2019 school year. He should be in the 11th grade this year. I still think about him from time to time and hope he’s doing okay.
Thomas and Mack Center the dope Jam tour shirt: A Unique and Creative Design
I teach at a high school for students at risk of dropping out – most of them are here due to poor attendance. A student received the Thomas and Mack Center the dope Jam tour shirt and I will buy this campus AAA award for academics, attitude, and attendance. I told her to show her mom and put it on the fridge since it’s a great accomplishment. She deserved to be proud! The next day, she told me her mom said, “Why the hell would I want that shit on my fridge?” and there it away. Had a student describe how they were raped (grade 2) Told my class my husband was a cop and we were talking about the equipment he wears. Student said his dad has handcuffs for work as well but they had fur on them. Dad was a stripper. Had the minister of education visiting and student told him about the prostitutes that worked outside their window. I have hundreds of stories.
Nothing they said in particular, but I have a student that I had my first year of teaching who is a biological girl, but lives as a boy. They still come back to school I work at, and gives me a tear filled hug from time to time and says “thank you”. (Their high school is walking distance from the Thomas and Mack Center the dope Jam tour shirt and I will buy this middle school) They say that I was the only teacher that treated them with respect constantly, and I was the only one who ever just listened and cared. I didn’t treat them any different than any other student I have, but I guess I impacted them without ever knowing. I’ve had quite a few trans students over the years and it is always incredible to me how some teachers just don’t even try to respect that for them. And I think it isn’t malice but just not even realizing it or caring. But it means a lot to those kids, something so small can be that impactful. I remember one boy being misgendered by a random teacher in the hallway. When the kid corrected him, the teacher just laughed it off and told him to keep moving. Again, something so small. But that boy then went a little further down the hallway, fell into a corner, and just cried. That’s when I found them and it just sucked. It just really really sucked. And while that kid will probably think about that for the rest of his life, the teacher just went about their day without giving it a second thought.

About this Thomas and Mack Center the dope Jam tour shirt
Happy note here: I have to say, as a teacher in a very conservative part of Texas, I’m so very proud of my fellow teachers, oldies from the Thomas and Mack Center the dope Jam tour shirt and I will buy this community like me much of the time, who generally respect our trans students and call them by their preferred names and pronouns. I remember in high school there were two trans students. They had to threaten to not walk at graduation in order to get the administration to call them by their preferred names. I know one of them is doing really well, the other hasn’t updated their socials in like for years, I hope things are good for him. This is something we as a team strived to do. We have two students who are trans. One has been at our school before identifying w/ a new name, the other new to us. They are treated almost the same by everyone, students included. It’s wonderful to see it. A student I taught was in their moms house with brothers and sisters when his mom’s boyfriend had a shootout with FBI agents. It was all over the local news. He saw the whole thing and he wasn’t really emotionally stable beforehand. He came back to school Monday and acted like everything was fine. He held that act for about 2 weeks till he finally broke down and us teachers did the best we could to help him.
10th grade- We were learning about folktales and how they usually teach a culturally relevant lesson that the Thomas and Mack Center the dope Jam tour shirt and I will buy this older generation would want to pass on to the new generation. As a warm up, I asked students to reflect back on their favorite childhood books/bedtime stories/fairy tales etc. Multiple students said they never were read to as kids, never told a bedtime story, didn’t have books in their house as little kids etc. so they couldn’t think of one. A small thing but really shows why we are in the situation we are in now with education. So sad to have a childhood devoid of books and stories- just plopped in front of YouTube from infancy. So I am a lurker here (a college student whose degree is not education). Back when I was in the eigth grade, students would help a kindergartner on the bus and make sure they got off at the right stop etc. I asked the little boy, “Will there be someone to pick you up from the bus stop?” He replied, “Yeah my mom picks me up and sometimes one of my uncles will.” In my head im thinking ok so someone will be there to pick him up and he won’t be going with a random stranger. Then he said in the sweetest voice, “I don’t have a dad, but my uncles act like my dad.” I just replied with “Oh that’s good” and I don’t know the family dynamics or whatnot but that pulled at my heartstrings.
A student once told me from the Thomas and Mack Center the dope Jam tour shirt and I will buy this time he got home, til he got to the bus stop the next morning, no one would speak to him. He lived with his mom and grandmother. He said he’d go in and do his homework and then go out to play then get home, make his own dinner, eat in front of the TV, etc etc and no one would say a word to him. I had a parent-teacher conference once with an older sister . . . one year older. I taught both kids. The girl was a brilliant straight A student and her brother never talked and barely scraped Ds. The parents had given up on their son and had no interest in him; all their hopes were pinned on the daughter. Despite this, she cared deeply about her brother and was a wonderful, kind person. She scheduled an appointment during parent-teacher conferences and met with me to discuss how to help her brother.
One of the Thomas and Mack Center the dope Jam tour shirt and I will buy this boys told me about how at Pioneers after school (our version of Scouts), an older kid offered him $30 for a toy of his. He did it. His dad needed rent money and then used the leftover $10 for food. It breaks my heart that he’s aware of money problems to that degree. Meanwhile, my 1st grader (she was held back a year so she’s the same age as the boy) decided that because she wanted 5 pairs of tennies instead of 2 pairs, we would just use our credit card (after I had already explained we couldn’t afford to spend that kind of money and that we still had to pay even if we used a credit card). Had a student ask to round his 89 to a 90 because if he didn’t get straight ‘A’s he didn’t get to keep his pillow and blanket for his bed. I told him that as long as he was trying, I wouldn’t let his grade drop below an ‘A’. I remember when I had a student that had a literal fever and his dad refused to pick him up. I let him sleep on my bean bag since the nurse sent him back. He slept after pick up (I did try to wake him) and the father called my room, and cussed him out so loudly that I could hear it. I felt so bad for the kid because he was very sick and his dad did not care one bit.
We were discussing something in a novel, and I can’t recall the Thomas and Mack Center the dope Jam tour shirt and I will buy this exact conversation, but it was something about how to apologize to someone when you’ve hurt their feelings. A few kids (tenth graders) were saying things about how if you upset someone in your family, like your sibling, the right thing to do is to give them some kind of a freebie to make up for it, like you buy them something they’ve been wanting, or do something they’ve been asking you to do that you said “no” to in the past, or give them something of yours they’re jealous of. I was taken aback by this, because obviously it has some VERY dark implications that the kids weren’t picking up on. They were thinking, like, “if you call your brother stupid and it upsets him, then you should stay home to play video games with him like he’s been asking you to, instead of going out with your friends that day and leaving him at home.” But I’m trying to get across to them that a healthy relationship doesn’t involve keeping score, and making a bad choice doesn’t mean you have to atone for your mistake by giving up consent in a different situation. But also, that you do have to apologize and learn from your mistake when you mess up – you can’t just smooth it over with a gift and then do the same thing next week.
So I said something like, “no, you don’t have to DO something to make up for hurting their feelings. All you have to do is apologize and promise to not do it again. The best apology is changed behavior.” So one kid goes, “No, if you hurt someone, you SHOULD do something nice to make up for it. Like, if I break your arm, then I buy you flowers.” And he’s not joking, like he’s legitimately trying to make a point and explain what he thinks is a universal truth to the Thomas and Mack Center the dope Jam tour shirt and I will buy this rest of us. I was shocked, and said something like, “No! That’s not how it works! If you break someone’s arm, then it was either a horrible accident, in which case you apologize and promise that you won’t do reckless things like that in the future. Or you were being violent toward them and physically hurting them, in which case apologizing and getting flowers wouldn’t make up for it. You can’t physically hurt somebody and then get them a gift to make up for it. Hurting someone on purpose is never okay. And if it was an accident, like you lost control of your car when driving and they broke their arm in the accident, then they can’t hold that over your head and say that you owe them flowers to make up for it. It’s not about keeping score of who wins or loses, or who gets what they want that day because they’re owed something after the other person hurt them yesterday.” And I distinctly remember saying this verbatim – “Relationships are not transactional!”
At this point, all the Thomas and Mack Center the dope Jam tour shirt and I will buy this kids are kind of chattering and sharing their opinions – some of them are in agreement with me and are baffled that anyone would think buying a present would be an appropriate response to physical violence. Others are confused because they thought that you had to give someone a concession if you hurt their feelings, like how in sports, you get a free throw or penalty kick if someone fouls you, and now they’re flabbergasted to hear that personal relationships aren’t supposed to work that way. But one kid, who was typically very quiet and had just been sitting there listening to everyone… when I said the bit about not keeping score, and not holding transgressions over someone’s head and demanding repayment in the form of flowers or gifts, his eyes widened and he looked right at me. When I said “RELATIONSHIPS ARE NOT TRANSACTIONAL,” he said “ohhhhhhhhhhhhh,” broke eye contact, stared off into the middle distance quietly, and it was obvious some wheels were turning in his head. His buddy next to him was like, “uhhh, did you just have some kind of realization, bud?” trying to cut the tension with a joke, and the kid said something like, “something just started making sense to me, and it’s a LOT.”
The two things I’ll never forget from that conversation are the Thomas and Mack Center the dope Jam tour shirt and I will buy this one boy saying “if I break your arm, I buy you flowers” and the other one’s giant eyes and “ohhhhhh” response to my soapbox about keeping score in relationships and holding mistakes over family members’ heads. The first boy had a tragic home life that I won’t go into here, but he had a baby with his GF a few months later, and it seemed like moving in with her parents brought him the stability and unconditional respect that he hadn’t had before. The other boy was being raised by what I think was a malignant narcissist and an enabler, and moved out the DAY he turned 18, then going on to join the military. They both graduated. Stepmother punished him by locking him out of the house in the dead of winter, without a coat or shoes. Left him overnight.
A high schooler telling me how her mom always baked her a chocolate cake for her birthday – even though she is allergic . Too numerous to even start to write them down. I taught at an alternative school for many years and every kid had a story to break your heart; they get written off as “bad kids” but they all had been failed by adults in some form or been through a hell of grief and loss. It helped me keep perspective and show up with kindness. It was Valentine’s Day and I told my class my mom and dad were my valentines. Several kids looked confused and one kid said “you have a mom and dad?” This was the Thomas and Mack Center the dope Jam tour shirt and I will buy this inner city and very uncommon for two parent households or even for the kids to live with parents at all. Right before I got married I was talking to my students about my soon to be husband and one kid genuinely asked me “does your husband ever hit you?” It broke my heart that they thought that was commonplace enough to ask.
Junior high girls fighting one girls response was “at least my dad takes care of me. He buys me soap and shampoo.” The day after a fifth grader’s birthday, my colleague (his teacher) asked him if they’ve had a birthday celebration. He answered: “No, Mom said she didn’t feel like baking a cake. So we just had a normal dinner.” It broke our heart, because we knew from other situations, that the Thomas and Mack Center the dope Jam tour shirt and I will buy this boy didn’t feel loved at home. Last week a third grader told me, he was looking forward to the weekend, because he and his twin brother are going to sleep over at his grandmother’s apartment. He then explained to me, that his grandma has a bedroom for them with one bed (and a mattress) and one mattress on the floor, whereas at home the twins have to sleep in the living room on the couch, because their elderly relative has recently moved in with them and got their bedroom. Middle school art- kids are drawing pictures of family or an event in your life. I’m looking at this girl who came from a refugee camp and she’s pointing out her little brothers. I asked why one just had a head- the body was on the other side of the picture. Then I realized there were soldiers with machetes and her brother I knew was wearing a skirt in the picture, it saved his life.
High school kid with As and Bs whose mother berated him for anything less than perfection, screamed and called him names. Had password to his entire college account–email, library account, grades, LMS, everything (taking online courses his senior year) so he could not freely communicate with professors when he needed clarifications, etc. without her criticizing that, too. When I reached out to him about some missing work she exploded. Good kid becoming an emotional wreck. a kid wrote in his writing notebook about his mom dying and how angry he was. a few years before, a mom died suddenly, dad basically disappeared into work, and left a 10 yr old kid all by himself. he refused all school staff trying to help him out with clothes and food. i still think about him and hope he’s doing okay.
a girl (12) told me how she has to take care of her 4 younger siblings by herself because her mom was very sick. she was cooking and cleaning and wasn’t sleeping. Worked at an alternative school my first year. I said something about how you can’t change what you’ve already done. All the Thomas and Mack Center the dope Jam tour shirt and I will buy this can do is own it, deal with the consequences, and make better choices going forward. In response to the “better choices” part, this little 7th grade girl looked right at me and said “Yeah. Thats easy to say when your entire family isn’t gang members.” Got kids with absent parents so when I talk about family I always say family is who loves you and takes care of you not necessarily blood. Finding out one of the most well behaved and kindest students I’ve ever had (middle school) had both parents in jail due to meth use and selling. I genuinely just realized there are so many parents who don’t even begin to realize how special their kids are. Not from me but my mom who is a 30 year vet. She taught a girl who was a sex worker/prostitute. She would have to check in with her pimp through the school gates because she technically wasn’t working. My mom saw many girls she taught eventually end up walking down the popular prostitute street. The average was 15/16. “My mom doesn’t really care what happens to any of us she’s too busy with her boyfriends” CPS call, though too be fair there was more evidence here to support abuse than just her forgetting her kid numerous times
My very first parent teacher conference ever, I was gushing to the Thomas and Mack Center the dope Jam tour shirt and I will buy this grandmother (who was raising her granddaughter) about how hardworking and kind her granddaughter was. The grandmother responded to every single praise with something along the lines of, “well, I see she’s got you fooled” or some other noise of contempt. My kid had siblings in other grades at this school, and I checked in with their teachers, and they had a totally opposite experience—grandmother either very filled with pride at the praise, or completely dismissive of concerns because that particular grandkid was a perfect angel in her eyes. It was the first time I think I really realized that some people genuinely dislike their own (grand)children.
I wasn’t even teaching. I had a paraprofessional position in a middle school, and it opened the Thomas and Mack Center the dope Jam tour shirt and I will buy this door for me to get more money tutoring in the afternoon. A sweet boy comes to me about a month or so into this tutoring thing, and says he needs to find out what bus to take. I’m kind of trying to figure out who to even ask because after-school bus assignments at that point were pretty locked in. Since I knew it was going to be difficult to figure it all out, I decided to make sure it was for a legitimate reason. So I asked, “Why do you need to change your bus?” It’s not that I haven’t seen or heard worse at one point or another. It was one of the first, if not the first, and the kid was just so quiet and sweet.
I felt so strongly for the Thomas and Mack Center the dope Jam tour shirt and I will buy this struggle that many adults can’t handle that this child had to endure. Loving someone and especially living with someone who is an addict is so heartbreaking. Back in the day we used to call absence seizures “petit mal seizures” and one of my students would blank out completely. Sweet and quiet student. We did a write up to observe him, asking him what he remembered when he zoned out. He couldn’t really see or hear or remember but he said he was afraid his mom was going to give him up like the others. His mom had either lost custody or put kids up for adoption. She kept him the longest, but for how much longer? She was a young sex worker, very kind and attentive. Came on our field trips and volunteered. She got pregnant several times.
