In my grandpa’s days on a cargo ship, on the days they crossed timezone borders, each of the three watches would adjust the ship’s clock by 20 minutes instead of just one watch getting their shift extended by the full hour Sounds like your gramps worked for people whose mission in life wasn’t to just completely shit all over everybody that worked for them
