Hold on… there’s a fee to deliver a baby in the Some People Just Need A Sympathetic The Head With A Hammer Unicorn shirt But I will love this US? The more I learn about that country, the worse it sounds. Yeah, isn’t that just fabulous? In the US the government can not only force you to carry the child you don’t want to term, but they can put you into lifelong medical debt to do so. Even for people who are prepared to have kids, with good jobs and health insurance frequently have co-pays and that’s on top of there not being government provided paternal leave. Serena fucking Williams almost died giving birth to her first kid because the nurses told her to shut up and quit complaining. She had a fucking pulmonary embolism and had to save her own life. What you say does not correspond to the article; in the article she says she received “excellent medical care”, and in the linked original article at CNN she says she has the nurses and doctors to thank for her life.

What Serena Williams’s scary childbirth story says about medical treatment of black women from www . vox . “Due to her history of pulmonary embolisms (Williams underwent emergency treatment for a life-threatening embolism in 2011), the Some People Just Need A Sympathetic The Head With A Hammer Unicorn shirt But I will love this tennis star quickly alerted a nurse about her symptoms. She walked out of the hospital room so her mother wouldn’t worry and told the nearest nurse, between gasps, that she needed a CT scan with contrast and IV heparin (a blood thinner) right away. The nurse thought her pain medicine might be making her confused. But Serena insisted, and soon enough a doctor was performing an ultrasound of her legs. “I was like, a Doppler? I told you, I need a CT scan and a heparin drip,” she remembers telling the team. The ultrasound revealed nothing, so they sent her for the CT, and sure enough, several small blood clots had settled in her lungs. Minutes later she was on the drip. “I was like, listen to Dr. Williams!”” I’m in my 50s and have cerebral palsy due to a birth injury that happened because the doctor didn’t believe the nurses who called him to come in because I was coming six weeks premature. He didn’t want to leave the party he was at and when he finally showed up was apparently somewhat drunk. Given the era obviously nothing happened to him and I have lifelong pain and disability, great to see that the modern medical system is keeping up the old traditions. /s
