I had to estimate how many days it would take us traveling in that train in order to get to my house. When we stopped at a station, her mom bought some fruits and shared. I looked at this odd tropical fruit, and bit in to it. My first taste of a guava: OMG, sweet and so luscious, dribbling juice down my arm! A few weeks later I was in a town where I had the phone number of someone I had met briefly before. We met up for dinner, and a friend of hers was shocked that I, a young single woman, was staying alone in a crappy hotel. She took me home with her and her mom and brother spent the next two days sharing their apartment and their culture with me. They took me to museums and other places. They cooked me local food. They made a bossa nova mix tape for me! We cried when it was time for me to leave. Although we did not keep in touch, I will never forget their kindness and I have paid it back/forward many times since then. ?

The very parking area we had just left had been rioted and many of the cars damaged or destroyed by attendees of a local campaign rally.

Then we had lunch at a delicious soda (patacones!!), went and played in the free hot springs outside of town, got a massage and then went for pizza and a beer. Watching my daughters climb around in the river with steam rising from it, while it poured down rain was heavenly.

While you’re looking for a decent pair of shoes, I’d recommend getting gel insoles with decent arch support and cutting them to size. I use kids gel insoles since I’m UK size 2, and they provide enough impact protection and arch support in otherwise uncomfortable children’s shoes. I’ve found those gel insoles in sports and hiking shops. Hope this helps. That’s not true. Amazon has many good arch supports recommended by podiatrists. I wear power step insoles purchased from Amazon. Not sure if these are made in child sizes though. Go to a good running store and have them assist you. I would love to know as well. Im also a size 2. I don’t really wear sneakers. Primarily because I can’t find anything that fits. I do like Puma kids. For shoes, I usually wear timberlands for blundstones. Thats about it. I used to wear kids ASICS or Brooks when I ran and never had a problem finding them, but that was a few years ago. For walking I like On Clouds. The size 2s have Velcro but I don’t care, they’re super comfortable Me too. I wish a lot of kids sizes didn’t have velcro. I wear Blazers to lift and they do too, I hate it. I have to wait for them to release one of their colors that doesn’t have functioning closures or laces, they can be hard to find Not at all.
