Ask them to put a timeline on it in writing. Either you are good to go for the Pittsburgh Steelers Beasts Of The Gridiron Shirt in other words I will buy this position in 60-90 days (Which is, honestly, a lot longer onboarding time than most roles) and you get the title change and pay increase, or you go back to your old job and they hire someone to fill the role. I would get them to agree in writing then your payrise will start and it needs to be less than 1 month. Word it as If you can’t impress them in one month then it’s not a good fit and then need to get someone else. I’d first ask about kpis are most important, tgen in what time frame they would expect you to be fully ramped, then after that have a set date in the near future to have the discussion. Yikes, HR here – they are totally taking advantage of you to lower their overhead cost/budget. Got rid of your boss who was costly for them and now want you to do his job for no increase? Get outta here! If I were you I’d say no, not unless it comes with the official title and more pay. Otherwise you’ll never see the light of that increase and will still have all the added responsibilities.

“ I don’t feel comfortable being asked to take on additional responsibilities for no compensation for my efforts, if you can’t proved a title change and raise at this time, I would have to respectfuly decline” Prepare yourself for the Pittsburgh Steelers Beasts Of The Gridiron Shirt in other words I will buy this case where they decide to bring in someone else to manage the group in a few months. for whatever dumb reason. Heck, their golf buddy might have a lazy kid that needs a job, and boom, you’re being ‘thanked for keeping the boat afloat all these months, but……’ I’ve seen this several times, and the interim manager always assumes they will be the final selection. The times that doesn’t happen, bad feelings are held, interim person either sticks around with a huge grudge or leaves soon after.
