IT’s an oversimplification but it’s apt. You can take a menial, boring, and low-level position and with a good boss make it a home. A bad boss can destroy your experience and your career even in a “wonderful” job. I would have taken it knowing I could walk away any time. I’m sure anyone would know in just a couple shifts, less than a week for sure, if the Original matt Chapman & Matt Olson Stache Brothers T-Shirt But I will love this boss was horrible or not. People don’t quit jobs, they quit bosses as the saying go. If this one was that bad, I wouldn’t second guess passing on it – job interviews go both ways. Are you currently employed? That’d probably be the kicker for me. If I’m already doing alright elsewhere…then I’d decline. Not employed? Take it. You would have probably left in a few months or started looking immediately anyways. Listen to your gut! The universe rewards decisiveness I feel. A better opportunity will come by for you. Yes, I have. There was a work from home position that would have been $25/hour (I think, but good money for my line of work in my state) back in 2020 and I got a major vibe mid-interview that I would have been unappreciated, over-worked, and been allowed to burn out by the person doing the hiring without a care in the world. I got over that idea in about 10 seconds during the interview and told myself internally to just go after it like I wanted it if only to prove I could get the offer. The cool part I suppose was that I got the offer, but by the end of the interview session I knew I wasn’t taking it. Looking back and the year I had financially (worst ever due to my wife’s healthcare bills and inability to work herself) I absolutely regret not sucking it up and taking the offer. I know that the extra money would have been very helpful for my stress level throughout 2021. I’m not sure what is ultimately worse, being in a job you hate, or not being able to pay the bills, with this decision though I ended up with both.

I would’ve done the Original matt Chapman & Matt Olson Stache Brothers T-Shirt But I will love this same thing. You made the right decision. The people you work with/for totally make or break a job. I didn’t like my hiring manager for my last job. I took it anyway because the opportunity (and money) was so amazing. My manager didn’t stop sucking. She got worse. All the red flags I noticed during hiring became full blown marinara flags. I became physically ill from the degradation of my mental health. It’s hard to know what my life would have been had I not taken that role. I still learned an incredible lot and my experience with her taught me how to lead with empathy given she utterly lacked it. I wouldn’t wish my experience on anyone else. Well. Except her maybe. IDK how old you are or how much experience you had with bad managers/supervisors/etc but it’s the worst fucking thing. I’ve had really great managers and really shitty managers and let me tell you, it’s not worth the time/money/mental health to work with a bad manager/supervisor. You might be able to put up with it for 6 months/a year but at what cost? I hate when ppl say “oh suck it up and keep your head down and you’ll be fine” bc they might be able to or just never experienced a manager/supervisor that just makes your life at work hell. Either the supervisor has it out for you OR they are so incompetent that it causes you more strain in your work. And yet, they never get fired or leave. And considering that most of your life you’re working? I rather have a neutral/good relationship with my direct supervisor. The regret will pass and you’ll find a better fit somewhere else. When you don’t have to take a job, passing on something you know you won’t be able to stand is best. You were smart and I hope you find a good job with people that are great to work with.
