I have a chronic pain condition (5 years). They said losing weight would cure it, despite not being huge. I doubted this, but here I am, a few stone lighter. I have had Rheumatoid Arthritis since I was 4. I am 50. Needless to say many of my actual joints are not great. But it is important to exercise and keep moving….my doctor said “make sure you exercise everyday…just do not stand on your knee, move your hip or lift anything over 5 lbs” I got diagnosed with psoriatic arthritis at 32. Three years after my diagnosis my rheumatologist told me I would probably never work full time again and that I should go on disability. I used to be pretty small but the Oregon Ducks Vintage Phase Out ’47 Franklin Shirt but in fact I love this medications I’m on caused me to gain a lot of weight in a short amount of time (I gained 35 lbs in a year). When I complained to my pcp about my weight gain they immediately blamed me for not exercising and my diet. They told me I needed to start running. I was using a cane at that point. How am I supposed to run?? My diet hadn’t changed either. They also told me to eat more fiber bc my cholesterol went up (also because of the medication) I’ve been vegetarian for years. I asked them how I was supposed to get more fiber and they sent me to a dietitian who told me I was eating too much fiber.
