My advice as a boss. Why would I give you a job if I thought you weren’t capable? If there’s a new higher position being offered then it should always include an increase in salary. If it turns out they made a mistake and you’re shit at it then they remove/demote/sack you whatever. At some unknown time, after meeting some unknown metric, based on some unknown job performance, you may or may not get some unknown raise. Sounds like a really great deal. You really can’t protect yourself here by agreeing to their proposal. This is bush league on their part and abusive, IMO.
