You have the Mickey mouse x Tennessee Titans the year when sh#t got real logo Shirt and I love this leverage here, not them. If they aren’t willing to give you the title and raise immediately upon you assuming the duties, then they can go hire somebody else to do the job and pay them that wage anyhow. Also of large concern is the reporting structure; it sounds like you are being set up to fail so they can have you do the work and have an excuse to demote you later when they find a cheaper long term solution. At the minimum, reporting to somebody who doesn’t know how your department works/isn’t involved is going to make the job way harder than it needs to be. It also very likely an example of them exploiting a worker to do more work presumably for the same pay. “I’ll happily take on those new responsibilities for the appropriate pay increase. If you feel I’m not living up to your professional standards after a trial, then I’ll be fine resuming my former responsibilities. At the old rate” Any expectation of more responsibility and role expansion needs to be compensated. They should give SOME increase now, with an “interim” title, then the full title and addition raise after a short and defined timeframe.

‘Them being comfortable’ sounds too vague for my taste. Unless there’s a hard date a set of goals and a $ number I’d say no thank you. HOWEVER, this is a slippery slope for them taking advantage of you. If you agree to this you need to set a 3 month review or 6 month review in writing. At that time they can decide if they are making you the Mickey mouse x Tennessee Titans the year when sh#t got real logo Shirt and I love this new director and you can decide if you want to be one. Again, this needs to be in writing. I did this and waited two and a half years for my increase, it never happened and the only time there was any indication of an increase having a possibility of happening was when I gave my notice If they won’t budge on the whole not paying you now thing, get in writing, on company letterhead, a specific list of goals along with a timeline and when you can expect them to come through with the additional pay and how much that pay will be.
