The Model Water Efficient Landscape Ordinance does restrict the Mickey and friends in disney illusion island shirt but I will buy this shirt and I will love this installation of lawns in new developments, granted development companies have found some loopholes. Also California is following the path of Las Vegas and moving towards restricting the irrigation of non-functional turf (basically turf that isn’t used for play or sports). As far as existing HOAs go its now illegal for them to restrict the removal of lawns in favor of low water use landscapes, of course that won’t stop from telling the home owners that they can’t. They just don’t have any bite when push comes to shove. Californians use only 8% of CA’s water supply and we already impose faucets with stricter than nation wide average flow rates (1.8 GPM vs 2)

If no one grew an inch of grass at any residential location in all of California, it wouldn’t even make a 2% change to the Mickey and friends in disney illusion island shirt but I will buy this shirt and I will love this amount of water used. This thinking is like the “Carbon Footprint”, it is manufactured guilt and blame to divide and distract from the heart of the issue. Repeat after me: Agriculture, Agriculture, Agriculture, Agriculture. Cattle are the biggest single drain on water in CA, up to 50%. CA is supposed to have a $67 billion windwall budget surplus this year. That sounds great ‘cept the government ain’t doing shit. The government should have put laws in place so the Earth wasn’t raped and pillaged. Please don’t blame anything residential it pales in comparison to agriculture and manufacturing which are 80-90% of this problem.
