Have you ever tried matte primer+ setting powder instead of full face foundation. Here’s some things that work for me (a lot is similar to what they said) Things worth doing are worth doing poorly – you don’t have to get it spotless in one day, just work on making it better. Very satisfying. 6h agoI personally find colour analysis questionable at best, have you tried an orange red yourself or do you just assume it won’t work? There’s more to red than warm to cool, orange to blue, there’s also muted to saturated, light to dark. The Merit lipstick you mention definitely looks very bright and could look neon pink because it seems to have this white base to it. It’s not the colour of your lips it’s the colour of your skin that’s affecting the way it looks. Have you tried a more muted red? 3ina matte lipstick in 270 looks like a deep muted wine pink in swatches but on my face it transforms to a classic red. Finding the right red lipstick is almost as difficult as finding the right tone of foundation. Good luck!
The color analysis I did was in-person, and it was like a 3 hour process, so pretty thorough! I think I lean very neutral. It was very hard for them to figure out if I was warm or cool because I was so close to the LFGSD San Diego Padres Baseball middle finger MLB shirt and by the same token and border. But they settled on cool because the warm colors made my face look a little more yellow. It was very clear that I look best in saturated colors rather than muted. I also look a lot better in darker colors. Some of my best were colors like charcoal, pine green, dark emerald, burgundy. I know that when I try muted lipsticks such as Merit in Tiger, my face has a more chalky look and looks less clear/fresh/bright. I also own Merit in Vermillion which I will keep trying. It doesn’t look terrible (I think it helps that it’s bright, not muted), but I think I look just slightly more sickly in those orange undertones. One shade that works super well with my skin tone is Merit L’Avenue. It has that deep color and leans fairly neutral. But it’s really not that bold red! So I was really hoping one of Merit’s red shades would work, but they’re looking either too orange or too pink on me!
I think some browns may look good. Back when Glossier Gen G Leo was a warmer brown, I liked wearing that shade a lot. And Merit L’Avenue is described as berry brown, almost a reddish brown. I don’t own a burgundy lipstick, but I love wearing burgundy clothes, so I could see that working! Maybe I do need to just give up on that super bright red look and try out that brown/berry/burgundy type range more! I’m kind of curious to try Merit Equestrian. Maybe I can do warm or cool as long as it has depth and it not too orange or muted. From what you’re saying I think we might have similar lipstick issues. Even though I am fair (with a yellow/green sorta mustard tone) my colouring turns every lip product brighter and lighter. Most of my favourite lipstick is deep berry. If I want something bright I go for Milani Colour Fetish Matte in Fleur.
I could definitely see some colors like that working out for me! I really like Glossier Gen G in Jam, so I think things with berry and brown tones work well for me also! I’m debating exchanging my two red Merit lipsticks. Do you think Equestrian and Maison could work? Those both have berry and brown tones, but it’s so hard to predict exactly how they will look! I don’t know if it’s even possible to get something to show up as a totally true red or if I should just give up on that haha.
