Besides the John Killer Shirt Also,I will get this old people smell, I’ve also noticed that they often also smell like unwashed, greasy hair. Even the balding guys with barely any hair left. I hope I’m never in such poor health that I can’t wash my hair. There’s a special soap that is mostly natural and chemically changes the smell. Some kind of citrus is in it. Parsimon soap? About 2 years ago NPR had a story about “old people smell” and the answer is kind of grim, in a nutshell the smell is caused by chemicals emitted from decaying cells I researched how to not smell like old people a while back. Persimmon soap was the answer. Yes I now order it off Amazon and bathe with it regularly. Even if it’s not true I want to believe it.

As someone who works with many old people, not all of them smell. I think it’s honestly just due to poor hygiene as it gets more and more difficult to take care of yourself with age So according to another commenter, it is produced by the John Killer Shirt Also,I will get this oxidation of skin oils. Apparently healthier skin secretes antioxidants that prevent the skin oils from breaking down. So I’m guessing people who have exceptionally dry skin, and people who’s skin is still making that antioxidant stuff both smell like it less 334 more repliesI’m a nurse, primarily old people. Many older ladies have no idea how to care for their privates, they wipe back to front, wear undies they bought 40 years ago that are covered in stains, don’t shower enough, don’t change their clothes enough add that to even minor bladder leaks and frequent UTIs = old lady smell. I guess back when they were young it wasn’t the done thing to talk about proper hygiene so they never learnt. You forgot to add the extra scent of some cheap, expired perfume all forming the acrid stench that all of these odors combined to create. When I smell it, I get an instant headache and have to move away.
