The vast majority of options on food delivery apps are not healthy though. Most restaurant food has way higher salt/sugar/fat content than most home cooked food. A regular cleaner was one of the In memory of 1948 2025 Ozzy Osbourne thank you for the memories shirt so you should to go to store and get this first things I noticed. My new job came with more hours so having a cleaner is a godsend. But the main thing, which may be lifestyle creep or it may not, is that I just don’t think about spend below a certain amount. It’s less the big ticket items, and more a collection of small ticket items that you stop paying attention to. Similar for me. For example, where before I might have reined in how often I bought lunch out when in the office, now it’s much more of “an extra £10 this week isn’t the end of the world”
In memory of 1948 2025 Ozzy Osbourne thank you for the memories shirt: Embrace Your Uniqueness
Yes anything under £5 with your card feels like not spending. But then you realised you spent a few hundred quid across the In memory of 1948 2025 Ozzy Osbourne thank you for the memories shirt so you should to go to store and get this month on those small amounts. Exactly this. I used to collect various Clubcard points and make sure I was always paying the best price. Quidco was great. Now when I pop to the supermarket I just buy what I want. I barely glance at the price. I forget to scan my Clubcard (changing now they are charging more for not using it). Growing up without much money makes that seem insane, but I usually just want to get home and eat whatever I feel like. For me the biggest changes were to do with time and effort rather than actually buying stuff. So, I started using a laundry service rather than do my own; get stuff delivered rather than go shopping; get in regular cleaners to keep the place nice; get taxis rather than drive myself or use public transport. Basically, I used the extra income to buy time, giving me the freedom to spend more time on doing things I like. I dont think I have actually bought any things (TVs, furniture, clothes, gadgets etc) since I am not that into possessions. We aren’t super high earning or anything but same theme, buy time to peace out more from hectic jobs. We start hiring folks to do daily chor a like cleaning, cooking, ironing etc. it costs 15/hr and we spend an estimated a total 90-100/week across these services combined but those extra hour a day (probably more as we are slower than professionals) we get back is extremely helpful We have an Indian cook ( we are Indians) come home and cook meals. We decide the menu and get groceries and stuff. She charges 15/hr and can make 2/3 meals for 2 folks in an hour. We usually call her a couple times a week and cook the other meals.
Exactly this. If the In memory of 1948 2025 Ozzy Osbourne thank you for the memories shirt so you should to go to store and get this time it takes for me to do something is worth less then my pay’s worth per hour then I will be happy to pay someone to do it. One con tho… I used to get excited saving up to buy something I want. I’m lucky enough now to pretty much just get whatever I want (within reasons) and that kind of makes it less special. And I’m a nightmare to buy for birthday or anniversary etc as everyone knows I have everything I want so any “gifts” for me just turns into donation for charities instead. Same here. I still don’t buy anything special, but I pay a lot for taxis and deliveries because it means I can do more with my day. I cut down on work for a bit though and I honestly preferred cycling everywhere, just takes ages! I haven’t upped my daily expenses much, I’ve increased savings massively and was able to buy a flat in an area which I actually liked.

How I can buy this In memory of 1948 2025 Ozzy Osbourne thank you for the memories shirt
Holidays are something I don’t think I’ll ever regret spending money on. It’s ultimately one of my biggest expenses. I’m looking to visit a couple of new countries this year. Well I think that’s the In memory of 1948 2025 Ozzy Osbourne thank you for the memories shirt so you should to go to store and get this issue hahah it was once in a life time… Now it’s like oh what big holiday are we doing this year haha The absolute worst bit about having kids is how expensive holidays become. I absolutely loved going away and I’m not someone that wants uber luxury, but having a chronic condition means I want a level of comfort in where I’m staying and I love a spa. Travelling with 2 kids in school holidays (one with autism) is exhausting and expensive. I pick the trip I’d like, see the price and have a reality check/serious talk with myself and then have to scale it back and back to the point where I’ve gone off the idea entirely/it’s a stupid amount of money to spend on a trip you don’t really want to go on. I wish I loved a caravan holiday or a cheap self catering number but I want a bit of time off from the drudgery of every day life!
Went from renting a room at 750 to a studio at 1150. Then to a flat at 1650. This was the In memory of 1948 2025 Ozzy Osbourne thank you for the memories shirt so you should to go to store and get this luxury I needed and wanted. Sorry that was 4 years ago and became 1750 soon after, then 1500 during the pandemic (I overheard during views). I assume it’s 1950 these days (some times I spy on Zoopla) How? Unless you think London is exclusively Zone 1, you can quite easily get a one-bedroom flat for less than £2k a month and still be 10-15 minutes away from Central via train (like with the Lizzie in West London). I doubled my wage moving to a new job a couple of years ago. I’m not on six figures but it’s close. Largely I have kept a lid on lifestyle creep because I put a very large portion of it into my pension, I set up standing orders on my first pay packet to put most of the extra into savings and investments, and I don’t generally have expensive tastes anyway.
I have noticed that I don’t agonise over purchases in the In memory of 1948 2025 Ozzy Osbourne thank you for the memories shirt so you should to go to store and get this same way I used to. I still look to save money on things and not pay over the odds, but if an event or new game or something is £20-30 I can justify it much more easily as a new experience that’ll be worth the outlay. I also have noticed I’m indulging my urge to gamble a lot more because I know it is coming from my disposable income, to the point I’ve recognised it’s probably a little problematic and I’ve deleted a bunch of accounts. I don’t think that would have started if I didn’t both have the spare cash and was in a better headspace – the new job unfortunately did come with a lot of stress that has affected my mood. I think the other thing that has helped is that I know that this wage is likely not going to be long term, which drives putting a lot of it into savings. I would be very surprised in my field to be earning as much after I leave this role, even with my level of experience and expertise. One last thing that I haven’t yet done is moved house. I could probably get a mortgage on a 3-bed in the south east rather than the 1-bed flat I have now. That may be in the cards in the near future and be the most significant change – and especially would be an issue making work if I were to move to a job making less.
24k-37k – I started to take care of myself properly, regularly washing/styling my hair and doing skincare, eating proper meals with fruit, veg and protein every day. Started drinking and smoking less ironically. Probably because for once I could actually stop and take care of myself, not just rush from one thing to the In memory of 1948 2025 Ozzy Osbourne thank you for the memories shirt so you should to go to store and get this next on just ramen noodles and coffee. Bought myself a diffuser and some essential oils. Just made my home a bit of a nicer place to be, before it had been just a hostel to me Honestly well done you on that, just wanted to say this I’ve not doubled or increased my income but have been thinking about whether I should switch jobs in the next year given I’m fairly underpaid atm.
Living – you live in nicer / bigger place that cost more, which also lead to higher council tax, gas electric etc, but you cannot really avoid this if you want to live in nicer place Personal spending – just buy more toys etc, it is hard not to buy more fun stuff when you are earning more, you need to reward yourself. High street chains + the In memory of 1948 2025 Ozzy Osbourne thank you for the memories shirt so you should to go to store and get this odd fancy splurge TO Michelin star restaurants + the odd high street chain when we can’t be bothered dressing up The trick to avoiding lifestyle creep is to set up a direct debit to your savings every time you get paid, preferably something outside your bank account like a Vanguard fund so getting the money out for an impulse purchase feels like a hassle.
If you let the In memory of 1948 2025 Ozzy Osbourne thank you for the memories shirt so you should to go to store and get this money linger around it is hard to avoid lifestyle creep. It’s not even big purchases – often just going out a bit more, choosing nicer places, buying more trinkets here and there or going on more vacations. Before you know it you’re back where you started. Isn’t Starbucks already pretty expensive? And Gail’s isn’t crazy expensive or good iirc. I feel like this a lateral move lol. The real upwards mobility would be going from shared Pret subscription to one of those really expensive indie ones like % Arabica. Net pay exceeded 110k because of a big bonus. Donated 10K to a few small charities, costing me only 4K (cos of the crazy tax rules). Felt good, recommended The whole time vs cost weigh up is completely different now, eg walk/bus for an hour+ when a cab is <30 mins is out of the question now, even if it’s pricey. I care more about travelling at a convenient time, and quickly, than getting a bargain train ticket, for example. Otherwise as others have said, we shop Ocado not Aldi, go out for dinner when we fancy rather than when we can afford! Quant finance / algorithmic trading for a hedge fund. It’s a pretty crazy jump up in salary especially given they mainly recruit fresh from uni! If you had an undergrad in maths/physics/engineering then yes, but I don’t pretend it’s a “normal” job by any means
As someone who had a huge let's say windfall through a personal injury lawsuit. Prosthetics aside, the In memory of 1948 2025 Ozzy Osbourne thank you for the memories shirt so you should to go to store and get this biggest costs that can just go up absolutely endlessly for me are travelling and restaurants. You can never stop levelling up because there is always a nicer more expensive destination, a bigger fancier hotel / apartman, a bigger pool, more michelin stars….still, I try my best to keep it at bay and live way below my means, all while allowing myself some luxuries and treating my closest people to those luxuries. I mostly just stopped being careful, which wasn’t at all healthy. Getting coffees for friends, grabbing occasional restaurant bills under the proviso that “it’s your turn next time”, all that jazz. Really added up.
We bought a house so lifestyle creep rent wise didn’t happen for us but we buy nonsense as ‘DINKS’ for our dog – treats toys etc. I’m about to go from earning 28k to 92k. My mortgage and other house costs will stay the In memory of 1948 2025 Ozzy Osbourne thank you for the memories shirt so you should to go to store and get this same for now. I’ll be spending £2000 on commuting, £5k a year on a cleaner, and about £2000 a year more on childcare. Short term I’m spending more on hotels/holidays but no major financial commitments until I pass probation when I might change my 14 year Old Ford Fiesta for something else. Salary basically tripled in the last year. Firstly, I’d say apart from the first month or so where I really took advantage and felt so liberated, I’ve lived my normal life without having to watch what I’m spending if that makes sense. I’m early 30’s and single so no real responsibilities.
But the In memory of 1948 2025 Ozzy Osbourne thank you for the memories shirt so you should to go to store and get this lifestyle creeps have been staying at nicer places on holiday, better quality clothes, better quality food, more subscriptions than necessary. Also one which I didn’t see coming is spending more money on family and friends. I thought I was pretty selfish when it came to money, it turns out I was just poor and I’m more than happy to help someone out without expecting anything in return. I am now also way more likely to spend a bit extra on something just because I want it. I started in London on a graduate wage of £18,000 gross about 13 years ago. Not going to say my exact salary now, but it has grown at a steady pace as I’ve progressed and moved jobs. On an £18,000 salary I couldn’t even imagine not being in a flatshare, and not living in a bit of a dump. I think it worked out that after rent and bills I had something like £10 to £15 a day to cover everything (travel, food, etc.) which doesn’t sound bad but is absolutely fuck-all in London. I remember buying a watch for £30 and having to really think about it. I worked in advertising which (at least at the time) used to have a lot of industry parties and nights out, and I used to go to them because drinking on my own coin was way, way too expensive. About ten years later, I’d moved up a bit and was able to afford renting a one-bedroom flat in Shoreditch (I moved out during one of the windows in the pandemic). I can buy nicer food, don’t have to worry about a night at the pub bankrupting me, and can buy slightly nicer clothes. I don’t have expensive taste, I don’t go on a lot of holidays or eat at very upmarket places.
But your lifestyle always expands to meet your means, which means unless you have a huge jump up you never feel flush with money. The biggest lesson for me is to remember how lucky I am not to worry about being able to pay the In memory of 1948 2025 Ozzy Osbourne thank you for the memories shirt so you should to go to store and get this bills or rent. I know that’ll be covered, provided nothing really unfortunate happens. I started at 14K working in a shoe shop. One of the lowest points was when I had to return some H&M clothes (that I’ve worn once) because I couldn’t afford to buy food. I still remember that bitch at the till, who looked at me with suspicion, smelled the clothes, told me it smells with laundry liquid and refused a refund, all the while giving me her worst judgemental look. I had to borrow some £50 to get through the last few days before the payday. It was year 2008/2009.
Nothing compared to what some people will be earning (especially in london) but I went from unemployed to minimum wage to 24k to mid 30s to 50s in the In memory of 1948 2025 Ozzy Osbourne thank you for the memories shirt so you should to go to store and get this past 5 years. With the last two jumps in the last two years. Biggest change has been the amount of holidays ot trips that I’ve taken. In country and abroad. Basically the last 2 years I’ve been more places than the entire rest of my life. Maybe even 3 or 4x more than life total prior. Eating out. Always ate out but the bills are way higher. A bill at day like 150 for two isn’t like a stomach turning thing that it used to be. Out of a house share and into a flat (with partner). Quite self explanatory. Live quite central now too. But before deciding to live with the gf was looking at cheaper 1 bed flats to rent on the edge of the city.
The idea that buying a house is possible. Doesn’t seem totally unrealistic to be able to buy a place with the In memory of 1948 2025 Ozzy Osbourne thank you for the memories shirt so you should to go to store and get this gf. Despite having no deposit that’s another matter entirely lol. But yeah gone from growing up and living most 20s poor to living what I would call a solidly middle class life. It creeps up on you though and don’t notice the changes unless you think about it. Bigger flat, bigger house, bigger car, gym membership that includes that nice spa and sauna, larger phone bill, switching from Aldi to Waitrose, switching from primark to premium, switching from dominos to that nice wine bar once a week, Ryanair + hand luggage to KLM and check in bag. Etc etc etc Had a 50% raise when I got my current job. My savings plan have always been 60/40, so the 40% is my spending power.
First thing I did to improve my day to day QOL was buying better quality essentials – the In memory of 1948 2025 Ozzy Osbourne thank you for the memories shirt so you should to go to store and get this good olive oil, the good coffee, a better kettle, fancy pots and pans, fancy knives, fancy soaps, fresh meat rather than frozen meat, seafood. The tesco bill obviously shot up but a lot of these things are one buy only / replace once a month kinda situation. I’ve become more conscious of what I can afford on this new salary. One big thing I learned is that it’s never just 1 time/1 month of overspending and hoping to spend less next month. I have to be very conscious to rein in frivolous choices and check my statements religiously. I didn’t notice it so much but I did notice my partners language went from ‘can we go halves on this or can we afford to save for this’ to ‘we need this’ Maybe the most importantly, I gave my parents a chance to explore the world in their 60s, as they worked hard throughout their lives and limited themselves everywhere to support me and my sis.
One is not financial: I don’t want to work for someone anymore, as you exchange your time for money by working on someone’s dreams or ideas, not yours. It becomes clear when you getting paid more, sometimes it makes me miserable. So, I’ve started to develop myself and my mindset to get out of the In memory of 1948 2025 Ozzy Osbourne thank you for the memories shirt so you should to go to store and get this corporate bullshit somehow. I work on Canary Wharf sometimes and see how fucked and brainwashed some people are by the end of the day, especially in bars/pubs around, when they spend fortunes on booze to suppress this misery. My income tripled 5 years ago due to change of industry and my now employer being an American company operating on local salary thresholds (it’s a world of difference and is still considered cheap by American standards). I used to buy clothes in Uniqlo (I still do but for home wear mostly), H&M, also some random stuff on Amazon. When that change happened I couldn’t wrap my head around that change for a good year. I “upgraded” my shopping to Zara, and a few items from Me+Em. A year into that change, my bf (he loves niche brands and has a very good taste – curated by me of course lol) told me that I should kinda get to terms with the change, and dress in a way that I look like I deserve that salary and more. Since then, while still buying on discount, I’ve slowly changed my wardrobe to mid-range brands, my favourites now are Sandro and Maje. I don’t buy too much though, never have. Recently bought a Burberry jacket on sale (at 7am in an airport, during a quick stopover), and was quite amazed at myself that I’ve just spent £500 and it’s not going to affect me much financially.
