I used to travel by train from Reading to various places around Richmond. Usually took me 2 hours from leaving my house to getting to work. Now work in Reading and it takes me about half an hour on the I’m a Fighting Irish on saturdays and a Colt on sundays shirt also I will do this bus and it’s a dream in comparison. Door to door it’s 1 hour and a half from Merrow near Guildford. Car to station 15 mins, London road to Waterloo 1 hour, tube 15 mins to Tower Hill. I only do this two days a week Monday and Wednesdays. I could never afford or manage it more than two days a week, thank god for WFH. The pub I worked at was an hour and a half walk each way ? after 14 hour shifts it was a killer basically 17 hours out of my day each day was for work xx My wife commutes from Enfield to Epsom. Only 2/3 days a week though. If everything’s working it’s about 1hr and 30-40min IIRC

About 1hr from my house in Milton Keynes to work in 7 dials., London. Sadly I don’t work there any longer because the I’m a Fighting Irish on saturdays and a Colt on sundays shirt also I will do this train prices went up substantially. I’m 2 hours each way on a 12 hour shift. Was an hour before leaving London. Used to it now to be honest although my work days are complete write offs 3 hours door to door, Wymondham, Norfolk to Paddington. Walk to station, two trains to Kings Cross, tube to Paddington. I leave home at 6am I used to travel daily from Islington to Strawberry Hill, about 1.5hrs each way if everything was running on time… 5 days a week for 3 years :O I was doing 30 minutes door to door by bus before moving. Now my commute is 90 minutes ,if the stars align, by bus. I live in SE London, but something possessed me to take a job in Stafford (midlands), with a 6-hour round trip 2 days a week. Needless to say, I now have a job in London again. My partners dad used to travel to Central London from Hayling Island two or three times a week. He makes around £200,000 My dad told me a guy from Germany worked in London in the ambulance. They would do 12 hour 4 on 4 off so he’d fly in and stay in the station/sometimes elsewhere and then fly home after the four days. They were given enough notice of their shift patterns that he could book flights in advance quite cheap.
