Probably my teen daughter’s cancer in 2018. The insurance was billed 250k for her diagnosis, which consisted of 2 MRI’s, a PET scan, a skin punch biopsy, and 3 rounds of bone marrow biopsy attempts in which they took 14 bone marrow samples to try to find what was wrong and why her bone marrow was all simply dying. Chemo destroyed her hip joint, so a year of working with the orthopedic surgeon to try to avoid surgery, and then having to do the surgery anyway – she got a total hip replacement last year at the ripe old age of 19. Even things like needing to go in to the doctor for blood tests because a cold lasted longer than expected, and it’s *probably* nothing, but that’s also how a relapse could present. So we check, because it’s the only way to sleep at night.
