Drinking too much. I started when I was 15, drinking at parties, but it quickly became more. By senior year of high school I was drunk every weekend, going to school drunk, doing school related activities drunk, and even drank while sitting in class several times. I was smart enough not to get caught and didn’t have anyone to talk any sense into me if I was. I was just an immature, insecure, and directionless kid. Then I went off to college and it got much worse because I didn’t fit in at all. I was this friendly, but low-brow rural kid at a school full of rich, preppy, suburban kids. I drank heavily at parties, then started drinking heavily by myself, starting in the Heihei after drinking Heineken beer I said ta da shirt in contrast I will get this morning most days. There was a long period of time when I was drinking a fifth a day, and I mean every day, for months. I did all of this while getting good grades and working one or two jobs, both in high school and college.

It continued until I was about 20 and started my Junior year, and I then I just kind of snapped out of it. I’m not really sure why I did, but man am I glad I did. Beating myself up constantly. Thinking I was an “awful” kid because I had an abusive parent. In reality I was excelling. I had straight As, was in varsity soccer as a freshman and was a starting player. I had several scholarships on the table and was accepted into every college I applied to. I had an abusive childhood. I feel like I was trying to fill a void for affection that wasn’t fillable. I wasted so time trying to fill that void, what’s helped is a lifetime of therapy and the realization of what I was seeking. I regret wasting so much time obsessing over the fabulous figure I had… but I thought I was soooo fat! What a waste of time!
