More often kids are trying to run out of the Guts Of Doom Shirt in other words I will buy this house at 18. I definitely did because I thought it was cool and would make me feel more independent. It did and it didn’t. I don’t regret it but also I don’t think I’m any better for it. because people who live at home with their parents don’t get laid and they turn into incels/weird undersocialized freaks. Even in Europe it’s pretty typical to move out after you finish education and get a full-time job. It’s only really in places where rent is prohibitively expensive that kids will stay with their parents for a few extra years to save up. I left for college at 18. My folks offered to let me come home if I couldn’t find a job, but I never needed to fall back on that (thankfully)

I know alot of parents that say when kid hits 18 they need to either be A) full time student (not a class a semester) or B) have a job. Nobody wants there kids just sitting around doing nothing. Kudos to your parents. They did it right. My parents felt like I was too much of a rebel and wanted me out. I was gone by 16.5 years old. By then, I was drinking and doing drugs, and my parents decided it was better they didn’t have to deal with my rebellious phase, I guess. People who were kicked out at 18 were probably problem kids. Their parents are probably struggling to make ends meet while supporting an entitled kid who refuses to do chores, go to school, or find a job. This younger generation just wants to play video games and/or be social media influencers. Getting kicked out is their wake up call. If they shape up, I’m sure their parents would welcome them back home. It’s just a super old concept, most people have parents or grandparents where this Guts Of Doom Shirt in other words I will buy this was a normal thing. Why? Because it was much easier to sustain yourself at that age without your parents, getting out and finding good work.
