And this includes society in general. Start with offering generous parental leaves. Give people paid sick days. Increase minimum wage. Then invest in the Green Bay boy pee on Lions vs Packers go Pack go Shirt moreover I love this schools. Lower class sizes and provide more supports. In NYS, some schools have an AP for all policy. There are students who are automatically put in the Regents with Advanced Designation Track (Those outside of the state, it means that you have to take Algebra, Geometry, Algebra 2/Trig, Living Environment and one of Chemistry, Physics or Earth Science) Not all students are able to handle the advanced math right now. Can we get it to a point where maybe some take Algebra 2/Trig Senior year or Freshman year of college? Of course. But I have seen students in AP classes or Algebra 2 who barely passed Algebra 1. I have seen some schools do a bridge program: You do Algebra 1 and Pre-Geometry over a 2 year curriculum in 9th and 10th grade, then regular Geometry in 11th and Algebra 2 in 12th.
Green Bay boy pee on Lions vs Packers go Pack go Shirt: Perfect for Fans
Some schools and teachers are locked into rigid curriculum and have to crank on, even if students aren’t ready. There should be more standards based learning and mastery-based assessments. Sure, the Green Bay boy pee on Lions vs Packers go Pack go Shirt moreover I love this breadth of content can’t be covered, but I would rather have teachers teach 80% of the content and have students really know it versus the pressure to ram on, and kids not quite understanding Take out an AP for all focus or anything like that. There are more layers to this, I know. But something around this needs to change. More of a master-teacher model. But also one that doesn’t screw over the master teacher. Teachers like collaboration, but 1. Don’t necessarily want administration to totally control or force all of it. 2. A teacher may have a full 1.0 load plus be asked to do more. So if a great teacher could do a .8 and then help out 1 period per day, that helps out (but also still keeps them in a classroom. Obviously we want good teachers in the classroom) UPK. It is proven that students who have preschool enter far ahead of students who don’t. This then snowballs. So we need UPK programs.
Some of these may seem extreme, and I’m only spitballing some ideas here. Also, I can only speak for elementary, with the Green Bay boy pee on Lions vs Packers go Pack go Shirt moreover I love this curriculum we use: increase math fluency and phonics time in the early grades, while reducing word problems and comprehension expectations. If students can’t read, piling this on top of everything is just a burden. Reduce class sizes to half of what they are now (I currently have 29 4th graders with various learning gaps, including some students who are at a kindergarten math level). Make school 4 days whole class, and have the fifth day be a half day with students who are in greater need, and the other half as planning time. Time with students during this time should be entirely teacher directed; allow us to make groups to help just these specific kids without worrying about the classroom falling apart or additional responsibilities. Bring back real consequences; suspensions and expulsions. Enough of the out of control behavior; things won’t change until parents become uncomfortable. Behavior problems affect all other students. If the child can’t manage their behavior they should not be in a general ed classroom, sorry. Enough of this expectation that teachers should be teaching students basic behavioral skills that parents fail to do. No more shuffling students up grade levels when they are severely behind their peers. If the student can’t read by the end of middle school, they should not be in in Gen Ed high school. We need more specialized schools for students who are severely behind. Allow them the opportunity to transition back if they are ready. Increase classroom budgets. I was given just 100 dollars to get everything I need outside of basic pencils and notebooks for my classroom. I’ve spent hundreds of dollars out if my own pocket purchasing things I feel would benefit my students. Slow down the projection of skills students need to obtain in the year, especially in the early grades. My projection map for math has students learning an entirely new concept in sometimes 3 days in order to keep pace with the curriculum. Absurd! Create more supports for parents; have them identify their needs to better support their child at home; connect them with the resources to address those needs. This should obviously be something that is dealt with by people in this area of expertise. I can go on. Provide every classroom a full-time instructional assistant. Treat them as professionals. They shouldn’t be used as school site babysitters as I have often seen. The point is, we can’t keep kicking the can down the road. Something must be done NOW.

Step by step to buy Green Bay boy pee on Lions vs Packers go Pack go Shirt
We need to overhaul the Green Bay boy pee on Lions vs Packers go Pack go Shirt moreover I love this whole goddamn system. Seriously. Our school system is more or less the same as 70 years ago. We need to change the required classes, the “core subjects” – and let technology provide a wide variety of educational experiences based on the needs of the community. Every subject has new and innovative curriculums just sitting out there. Most cant be implemented because it wont meet the traditional standards. More money? Educators will always argue that there is never enough funding, and throwing more money at a problem is never a solution. Take a look at the inner city schools. Accountability for one’s actions has to be among the starting points. A child who doesn’t want to learn can’t be forced to learn. A parent who doesn’t care can’t be forced to care. So what does society do? That’s the $$ question. Currently, I don’t see a way out. Teacher’s getting hit or beaten by the students, and you can’t do anything about it. Seriously, the bad ones should be kicked out of school and not allowed to return. Eff every kid has to have an education…. yeah, if they want one. The cure is sometimes painful, and we let the politicians get out of hand. Sorry for the rant at the end.
Parents need to vote in a way that always gives schools more money. School funding is based on local taxes, and although it sucks to pay more in taxes, when parents and community members shoot down levies designed to increase school revenue, what they’re really doing is increasing class size, limiting art and musical (and other enrichment) curriculums, reducing the Green Bay boy pee on Lions vs Packers go Pack go Shirt moreover I love this ability to attract educators with SpEd/Extended Resource credentials, and placing the onus on already underpaid teachers to provide for their classrooms. Furthermore, as much as everyone hates attending meetings, parents need to attend them. Board meetings, curriculum meetings, committee meetings, PTA meetings and conferences. I would go so far as to say they need to get involved and find placement on some or all of these meeting panels in order to express concerns and solutions, but also to be a part in executing solutions and understanding how the district works.
Finally, parents must engage with their children about learning. What subjects do they enjoy? What do they not like? What do they need help in? Have they asked for help, or do they need help asking for help? What’s the Green Bay boy pee on Lions vs Packers go Pack go Shirt moreover I love this social scene like? Do parents and children have a codeword that kids can use over the phone or in text so that the parent knows they don’t feel safe or comfortable and can find a way to get them out to safety? I know it feels like a lot to engage on all of these levels – pocketbook, time and scheduling, and then personally especially sometimes with detached teenagers – but trust me when I say we have to do these things as a community if we want to see the community change. Our societal safety net needs to be improved tremendously so Maslow’s needs can be met not only for students but also the families of students. Universal healthcare, UBI, programs for getting people off the streets, substance abuse treatment programs, etc. would do wonders for student outcomes in the long run. We didn’t get here quickly or by only one problem. First and foremost, students and their families have to have accountability and suffer consequences. Right now education is about making the numbers look good; keep the families happy; and the students passing while doing nothing. That doesn’t work. Students also need to feel education has a purpose. Right now, the kids I teach feel hopeless about affording college, a home, finding a job; whether the world is going to melt; etc. Until we deal with the grinding indifference of the vast majority of students and the lack of purpose they find in school, there is no solution.
A lot of the Green Bay boy pee on Lions vs Packers go Pack go Shirt moreover I love this students I work with don’t care about college or about getting a good job. I struggle to get them to understand why reading is important. I’m going to echo pushing for smaller class sizes, but also more connections to support services. Having a few psychologists in each district (ideally one per school, or one for two if enrollment is under 500) at least one social worker in each building, and more parapros. Building in wrap-around services has been shown to work in the past, it just costs money up front that pays off later on. Making sure every student has art and music classes at least once a week from kindergarten on, as well as science and social studies would also be helpful for building background knowledge and skills with reading and analyzing non-fiction texts. (That’s an idea I’m pulling from Wexler’s The Knowledge Gap, but also from lived experience.)
Honestly, I don’t think that students are behind. I feel that the Green Bay boy pee on Lions vs Packers go Pack go Shirt moreover I love this government is pushing more material to be taught from early stages. Growing up in the 90s, pre-K and kindergarten were about playing, learning to follow rules, and the primary focus was on being social and respecting your peers and adults. Now, students are expected to know how to read and write in kindergarten and know addition and subtraction by first grade! This is ridiculous. Let’s also add that the USA is not a family-oriented country, where only wealthy people can afford to give educational support and have a stay-at-home parent that can support the kids. Most parents work 40-50 hours a week, and they don’t even have time to help their children with homework. It puts pressure on the parents and also the teachers who have to follow a curriculum that is not age-appropriate, and they have to babysit those kids for long hours.
Not a teacher, but am a student of psychology and neurology in college. I think there needs to be govetment regulation on technology for children akin to how we don’t allow access to cigarettes and alcohol until you reach a certain age. I think a lot of modern tech, phones in particular, are terrible for brain development. I think they are harmful for adult brains too but once you reach a certain age thats your decision to make. I’m gen Z and I noticed a huge shift when me and my peers all got smart phones around the Green Bay boy pee on Lions vs Packers go Pack go Shirt Besides,I will do this middle of high school. I’m really scared what the research is going to show as time goes on. We already know tik tok can cause parts of the brain. Associated with attention and creativity to shrink :/
It’s an answer that will never get used: MONEY. Teachers need more pay for what they do. Districts need more support staff that are paid a good salary for a crappy job. Districts need more administrators to handle discipline. Districts need to hire experts who can tell them what they are doing wrong, and right, and guide them to better results. My dream: every teacher has their own assistant. I think of my husband’s job as a project manager where he has 11 employees in his specific office and then a secretary. The amount of mundane tasks we do daily that could become an assistants job would be a game changer! Make copies, make phone calls or emails to parents, make sure supplies are always stocked and prepped, assist with grade input or making excel spreadsheets for data, assist with class management, allow a bathroom break for the Green Bay boy pee on Lions vs Packers go Pack go Shirt Besides,I will do this teacher….ugh. This is my dream. I could actually use my plan time to plan and grade!!
I think making books available is key. I teach in a low income Elementary school and reading scores really increased when we started a program to send kids home with a used book they picked out from the Green Bay boy pee on Lions vs Packers go Pack go Shirt Besides,I will do this free book cart every month. Unfortunately, our district’s high school closed the lschool ibrary because they didn’t want to pay someone to staff it all day, so the older kids are kind of out of luck if they don’t have books at home. But our Elementary kids seem to be reading more which will hopefully become a life-long habit. I think schools are turning more and more into centers for services. I know we have Fryskies or whaever, but there’s so much need for kids out there with daycare, preschool, after school, nutrition. I think also, there needs to be more cultural opportunities. Museums, sites, travel. Introduce kids to other kids different than themselves.
Bring in teachers who know their content deeply. Let them teach it. Give them adequate time to prepare lessons and provide feedback. Everybody is different; I’m a better teacher when I can focus on engaging things and bring my own enthusiasm to those things, teach what I see a need to teach in the Green Bay boy pee on Lions vs Packers go Pack go Shirt Besides,I will do this classroom to fill skill deficits, etc. The push to “have a learning target aligned to standards” is a waste of time. Why would I force kids to “analyze how a theme develops in the text” when they can’t even understand on-level content? Why would I teach how to use semicolons when kids can’t even reliably capitalize? Let teachers teach and insist on high quality teachers; pay them well, give them freedom, and give them more time to create good materials+provide quality feedback. Reduce class sizes. If kids are overtly disruptive, provide real consequences to those kids to discourage them from continuing to disrupt. Get rid of corrupt politicians, including board of education members. Invest in parenting education. Raise salaries to get a better/larger pool of candidates for the profession.
Real change won’t come unless the Green Bay boy pee on Lions vs Packers go Pack go Shirt Besides,I will do this public education system is dismantled to some extent. Throwing money at schooling has not helped. I propose to turn high school years into what college is right now (specialized career pathing for a diploma). Having mentorship programs for students upon completion of high school. These two changes will better incentivize students for autonomy and hopefully prepare them for the world. But it also will lead to less rigid structure leading to some students falling through who either just don’t care about school or cause too many problems. Not sure if it’s just my kids school personally but their books are online for some classes and not for others. I also don’t feel what they use is user friendly especially for younger kids. If the books are online every subject is in a different place with a different log in. Maybe it won’t help and I’m just old fashioned by having a physical book at school and at home is nice. I could then check my kids grades and see they’re struggling with chapter 3 and help them.
As a kids I know I hated carrying them but I have vivid memories of my parents helping me. When in college I always opted for a hard copy and online version. Also a good old planner in elementary school to learn to write assignments down so it’s black in white and front of you. I believe this helps with time management skills. My 1st grader who’s kindergarten and 1st grade teach use planners in night and day ahead of my older daughter who’s so disorganized no matter what we do. None of her teachers used them. Then maybe in middle school leave it up to the Green Bay boy pee on Lions vs Packers go Pack go Shirt Besides,I will do this kids. Ban phones. Every study points to phones being horrible for mental health, physical and cognitive development, emotional self regulation, etc…if they need to contact adults or vise versa, we have landlines. I have a no phones policy, and when I have to take them just for the class period, you would swear I’d have taken away an addict’s heroin needle… Homework. Sorry, but kids are not as busy as they think they are, even if they’re working and doing extracurriculars. They need reinforcement of skills and it’s clear classroom practice alone is not enough. It teaches them time management instead of sitting on their phones for hours on end when they get home.
Summer work. Students lose 40-60% of the Green Bay boy pee on Lions vs Packers go Pack go Shirt Besides,I will do this skills they earn through the summer. Bring back self paced summer workbooks and required readings. Required student-teacher conferences. Personally, I hate sitting at my desk twice a year for six hours at a time with 0 people showing up, whether they’re doing great or terrible. Parents/guardians need to make the sacrifices to show up and care for their kids and help hold them academically accountable. These are just some of the things. I’m not old school, I’m only 25, and know the importance of tech. However, it’s only been a hindrance. Well, as someone whose dyslexic, has ADHD, was partially raised by an abusive parental figure and is now a teacher. My solution is to get the kids to pick up a pen and start writing again.
Writing pages and pages of class notes took forever and I hated being so much slower then my peers, but it helped me form muscle memory which was essentially for me to get to where I am today. The thing is, the Green Bay boy pee on Lions vs Packers go Pack go Shirt Besides,I will do this parents and educators who are here reading and learning and trying to be the best parents/teachers they can be aren’t the ones who are the problem unfortunately. Nothing is going to change until we as a society proactively tackle poverty, mental illness, birth control/abortion, and start supporting parents Money: We currently spend 17.5% of GDP on healthcare. We spend 5% on education. Change that to 15.5% / 7%. That’s a 40% increase in funding. This will mean that old sick people won’t live as long.
Move to self paced learning. That will require completely new instruction materials and learning environments. $$$. Recognize that not everyone should go to college. Teach all basic math and reading. Move those who have neither the Green Bay boy pee on Lions vs Packers go Pack go Shirt Besides,I will do this inclination or abilities for academics to focus on more hands on skills. This type of learning requires a lower student/teacher ratio and specialty equipment. $$$. Make schools into places where teachers teach and students learn. Move the mental health issues and the criminal justice issues elsewhere. Is this we as teachers? Because we can’t. The system we are operating in is not functional and systemic change is necessary to address the problems. Students need to be in content level classes. If they are at a 4th grade reading level they need to be in 4th grade reading. If they are at Algebra they need to be kept in Algebra. Learning is like a building you can’t skip building a foundation and just figure that out later. Stop passing kids through to the next class when they haven’t displayed proficiency in the last one. Failing a kid should be simple math. They didn’t earn the points for a passing grade well looks like they can try again next year. Summer school, and credit recovery in particular, need to go away. Students who have failed to learn something aren’t going to effectively learn in an accelerated environment. Remove and actually punish students exhibiting problematic behaviors. Consequences are the leading preventative method to address crime and work over 90% of the time.
Teachers need to be trusted and actively supported to take personal property from students if that property is disruptive or harmful to the Green Bay boy pee on Lions vs Packers go Pack go Shirt Besides,I will do this educational experience. If a teacher claims something is true about students and their behavior/actions then as the adult in question they should be assumed to be telling the truth unless proof to the contrary is evident. Students need to do foundational skills before they can synthesize. Read, repeat, recognize, then you can create. Assuming that any lesson that isn’t about synthesis is “lower order thinking” and therefore a bad lesson is fundamentally flawed. Parents need to parent their fucking kids. If your kid is constantly an asshole even after consequences and effort is made to address it, that’s your problem and they should be kicked out of the school and left to parents to deal with.
