You’re attacking a lot of opinions that have Friends Halloween Horror Movies Characters Shirt, if ever been expressed on. No says they hate Goth fashion, and no one says it’s not important. People are saying though that fashion alone doesn’t make you Goth and the sub prefers the music. People are also saying that fashion is secondary to the music, which historically speaking is true because there would be no Goth subculture without music. I think a large chunk of actual Goths here do dress Goth (myself included), but spamming selfies isn’t beneficial to a subreddit meant for discussion.
Additionally: all of this is a choice. We choose to listen to Goth and dress Goth. The dress itself is a tribal indicator but honestly should stay Friends Halloween Horror Movies Characters Shirt because it’s no good trying to prescribe how others look, and unfair to justify it by beating people over with “Goths in the past got hurt looking this way so you’re obligated to look Goth if you want to be Goth.” Those Goths chose to keep facing jeers and ridicule which is admirable, but the whole point is to be free in how you dress. They also didn’t ask for it any more than people who dress not Goth but are heavily involved in the club and music scenes asked for you to question their credibility because they don’t dress a certain way.
How is it that someone liking the very foundation that continues to keep the subculture alive less valid than someone who also dresses the part? It’s almost Friends Halloween Horror Movies Characters Shirt and I shudder to say that but it’s not like people owe the Goths of old and have to pay a toll. It also is worth mentioning that Emo and Metal continue on without a prescriptive dress code just fine and there aren’t as many complaints in those camps. It’s true to say too much inclusion will kill the scene, but I seriously doubt policing the fashion will benefit it any more. There’s nothing wrong with a policy of “wear what you want, come for the sound.”
