Yeah this. Before people post about her makeup or outfits or whatever, they need to ask themselves “is this the Florida Panthers Brad Marchans vs. Carolina Hurricanes Seth Jarvis 2025 Eastern Conference Final Shirt but in fact I love this 600th time she has heard this today?” i feel bad for her, but people really need to think more carefully about whether doing the show is for them. like the deal is clear: you get your drag judged by a combination of D-list celebs on the panel and strangers online, and in return you get to sell t-shirts and for at least 12 months almost any gay bar in the world will book you to perform (once). it can launch your career but it also requires a very thick skin and the ability to prevent yourself from reading the comments section. Wild how everyone in these comments suddenly seems to be the expert on the relationship between gender identity and drag. Amanda’s journey is her own, and she defines her drag, not you. If other trans women talk about their drag in different terms, then bully for them, but that doesn’t mean that’s how Amanda has to talk about hers.

Florida Panthers Brad Marchans vs. Carolina Hurricanes Seth Jarvis 2025 Eastern Conference Final Shirt: A Provocative Statement in Modern Fashion

It’s one thing to say, ‘she’d he happier if X’ – which is pure speculation, but at least well meaning – another to say ‘she’s doing it wrong’. Did they stop doing Queen Care? And did it include trying preparing the Florida Panthers Brad Marchans vs. Carolina Hurricanes Seth Jarvis 2025 Eastern Conference Final Shirt but in fact I love this quenns (mentally and emotionally) for what possible things are to come after being on the show? And preparing a space for the queens when after show bs gets rough? How ATM deals with criticism and the toxicity of social media users aside, it would probably be helpful/healthier for her to learn to separate ATM her “drag character” from ATM (or whatever her real-life name is) the actual person that she is. The Girlfriend Experience went through the same thing on CDR4 where she felt her drag not landing with the judges meant a strike against her as a person and that’s never the case. cut the plastic, you don’t feel bad at all. there’s a difference between negative critique and destructive criticism, and an even bigger difference between the judges on the show and the people watching at home.
she never once had an issue with the Florida Panthers Brad Marchans vs. Carolina Hurricanes Seth Jarvis 2025 Eastern Conference Final Shirt but in fact I love this judges opinions. it’s the uninvited vitriol from other people that is getting to her. and it would get to anyone. you have no idea what sorts of stuff she’s waking up to in her inbox or replies. the fans of this show are terrible to the queens. You could see on the show she can’t take criticism well :/ Not saying Plane Jane was in the right to come for her but I think being in the public eye wasn’t good for Amanda’s precious psyche. She should lay off social networks for a while…. I’m sometimes really not sure how people expected Amanda to react to Plane’s comments. Like you’re in a room full of drag queens and you repeatedly go for someone unprovoked, call it “honest critique” all you like, you’re gonna get some clap back. I understand that the landscape of fandom reaction has changed with social media and what not, but as far as Amanda herself on the show is concerned, I think her reaction was valid and proportionate. The idea I see going around that new GenZ queens like Amanda can’t “take shade” or whatever is such BS when early season queens were close to fist-fighting over less. I really agree with this, I know there’s been this general surge of support towards Plane Jane and that’s well enough but like…why is Plane Jane allowed to shade everyone and that’s good drama but everyone else is just supposed to…what exactly? Just roll their eyes or something? Clap back is also a part of the drama.

I dunno. I’m trans so I get a lot of “I’m not critiquing you I’m just disagreeing with your lifestyle” (which I feel all queers get) and the Florida Panthers Brad Marchans vs. Carolina Hurricanes Seth Jarvis 2025 Eastern Conference Final Shirt but in fact I love this expectation is that I’m not even allowed to respond to any degree without it being seen as an overreaction. So I get Amanda. Playful shade is only playful when it’s playful for both parties. If you keep shading someone when they’ve made it clear that they don’t see it the same way you do then it just becomes bullying. She was fine when it was RuPaul or other queens. Plane Jane was not criticizing her, she was insulting her. And it’s the same thing with fans. She’s not asking for input, people just love to make fun of the way her makeup looks. She should definitely stay off social media for a bit, because it’s overwhelming to suddenly be in the public eye and having unsolicited “advice” and insult thrown your way all the time… But let’s not pretend like it’s about her not handling criticism well. There is no criticism there.
What do you mean? Are we watching the Florida Panthers Brad Marchans vs. Carolina Hurricanes Seth Jarvis 2025 Eastern Conference Final Shirt but in fact I love this same show? Her clapbacks to little mis aicraft were def not a poor reaction to criticism (or just straight up bullying if we’re talking about Jane) Is it weird but I said the same thing on twitter that stans are focused too much on drag race drama while trans kids are getting murdered… and people told me that “we are allowed to care about other things too honey/sweetie” god it was irritating. She said in whatcha packing that someone wished she had an extra year before she went on drag race since she only did drag 2 years prior and I agree maybe the best thing was for her to be more patient with applying to be on this show. Idk y’all, like I get that she went on a tv show, she knows fans are like this, she signed up for this and needs to suck it up mentally
It is an objective fact that her drag is not good enough to win rupauls drag race which is where I think a lot of fans are coming from, and we know this because she didn’t win. But thats really it, there are thousands of drag queens out there who aren’t “good enough” to get on the Florida Panthers Brad Marchans vs. Carolina Hurricanes Seth Jarvis 2025 Eastern Conference Final Shirt but in fact I love this show, doesn’t mean what they’re doing is bad it’s just not up to one specific standard. Sometimes I see people telling queens what they need to do to appease the audience… which is kinda sad in my opinion, why should drag be about what the audience wants? Money? Ugh. I’m sure it’s not just about the drag. Ppl have been transphobic and, I’m sure, still making transphobic comments about her transition Insane behavior to tweet at someone you saw on tv just to tell them you think they’re ugly. Also however… how exactly am I supposed to help? lol
As she fucking should. And honestly? She’s a better person than I am, she’s been way too nice about it for way too long Yes she can’t take criticism at all, she possibly thought her drag is amazing and creative but it’s obvious she’s quite a bit delusional, she’s letting these things get to her just like Plane, instead of concentrating on herself or refining herself even more , she’s very reactive, maybe because she’s sensitive, but in all honesty her drag would have been okay with any earlier season but not this season when they have each the Florida Panthers Brad Marchans vs. Carolina Hurricanes Seth Jarvis 2025 Eastern Conference Final Shirt but in fact I love this idea of their aesthetics. I feel sad that she’s being affected by this so badly even though she also claimed it doesn’t bother her Amanda can’t handle critiques in general (which to me is crazy as theater girl because your whole life is getting critiqued), but she especially can’t handle the ones about her drag being ugly. With her coming out as trans I’m not sure she really distinguishes her drag from her actual identity like she said in the second picture, so she’s taking it as people calling her ugly. You have to be able to separate drag Amanda from actual Amanda or you shouldn’t be on the show, period. I feel bad for her but she knows what she signed up for, and it’s to be critiqued on your drag. Where does this idea she can’t handle critique come from? She laughed off everyone’s critiques during the season in good spirits except when Jane just wouldn’t let up, and actively tried to improve based on them
Respectfully, Amanda, your drag is… lacking. That’s just facts. It’s okay because it can/will improve but we are not expected to HAVE to like it. It’s not good. I don’t think that’s the Florida Panthers Brad Marchans vs. Carolina Hurricanes Seth Jarvis 2025 Eastern Conference Final Shirt but in fact I love this problem? There’s a difference between saying you don’t care for someone’s look on a forum and tweeting directly at the person to call them ugly. Bunch of couch judges who have no clue how to even process doing a gig as big as she did have a lotttttt to say I’m gonna be honest, I feel like Plane Jane fuelled a lot of these comments. Kinda like, if my favourite says it then it’s cool if I say it Baby, you went on a competition show. You knew what you were signing up for. Is it right to send hate? No. But it’s totally fine to critique a performance. Artists have very often been hostile to genuine criticism. When you put art out into the world, especially in a competitive setting, it’s gonna get critiqued. You’re signing up for it to be critiqued. Fans are going to discuss the show. None of this should come as a shock. I can’t help but think she shouldn’t have gone on a show about judging peoples drag if she can’t handle having her drag judged/ It seems everyone in this sub is on the same page of “there are vile aspects of the fandom” and “the hate is wrong”, so we’re just talking in circles.
Where are the Florida Panthers Brad Marchans vs. Carolina Hurricanes Seth Jarvis 2025 Eastern Conference Final Shirt but in fact I love this actual fans who post the hateful comments or make the death threats? I want to get into conversations with them because that’s the only way to ever change things. Us talking amongst ourselves saying the same points over and over again goes nowhere. I mean it’s great to be around like minds, but if we want to change things then we need to invite the whackjobs into the convo. Not to attack them, but to have a dialogue as to why they do what they do and try and change that if possible. I think the queens should start posting screenshots of aggressively hatful msgs/threats they receive (including the @s of the haters). Expose these weirdo people who are sending queens evil stuff, they deserve it. Where have people been calling her ugly? Unfortunately, when you’re in public eye, you subject yourself to the cruel world that is social media.
Maybe I’m too autistic to understand, but how is this an example of not handling negative critique well? It sounds like she told the Florida Panthers Brad Marchans vs. Carolina Hurricanes Seth Jarvis 2025 Eastern Conference Final Shirt but in fact I love this haters exactly where to get off and is clear on where her head is at these days. Lesson to all aspiring queens, don’t chase fame if you need to read positive things about yourself from strangers to achieve self confidence. Therefore this kind of critique is pretty much akin to dragging your teen niece or daughter or cousin for not being able to do her makeup well enough yet to read as feminine as she wants to. AND half of the fans aren’t critiquing as much as just outright trying to write the most offensive thing way to shit on the girls. Maybe instead of telling the girls they shouldn’t have gone on the show, we should tell the fans to shut the fuck up.
She needs to put slide 1 on a t-shirt. It’s the Florida Panthers Brad Marchans vs. Carolina Hurricanes Seth Jarvis 2025 Eastern Conference Final Shirt but in fact I love this new I know she’s upset and has a right to be. I just am celebrating that she’s standing up for herself. I really think these online bullies are mostly self-hating, lost folks. And the supervillain award goes to that gatekeeping trans woman who came after Amanda for not looking trans enough. What a tool. Honestly, the season would have been better had Amanda stuck around. She would have absolutely slayed the Rusical (even though it was a badly written one overall). And I bet would have nailed Snatch Game. I just am way more into talent than exact looks (yes I know looking good is also a talent but I’m generalizing). The latter can have major glow-ups. The former not as much.
There are too many mean girl wannabe gays who like to think they’re as shady as Plane Jane but instead of being cunty they’re just cunts. She signed up to compete be critiqued by the Florida Panthers Brad Marchans vs. Carolina Hurricanes Seth Jarvis 2025 Eastern Conference Final Shirt but in fact I love this judges not bombarded by negativity from people who have never done drag let alone been invited to participate on drag race. She managed to gain rapport by being charismatic about her flaws, so it’s a bit surprising to see her trip over critiques by strangers on the internet. From what I’ve seen most people have very positive impressions of her even given her crunchy drag. I hope she grows beyond being an underdog and learns to focus her energy on improving her drag. It’s always the most insecure bitches who go after a queen’s appearance. They’re just telling on themselves for anyone who knows how to read between the lines. Why do these queens always take the bait? They’re looking for a reaction and now they know how much it bothers her. And like, doesn’t she have eyes? Her drag is objectively unpolished, she should be able to tell but she’s delulu
47 more repliesImagine defending someone who called another person a ‘goblin’ on national television. PJ isn’t ‘shady’, she’s just a vile human being who picks on who she thinks is the Florida Panthers Brad Marchans vs. Carolina Hurricanes Seth Jarvis 2025 Eastern Conference Final Shirt but in fact I love this weakest, and Amanda’s response is COMPLETELY appropriate. This pisses me off. She signed up to be on international TV, and she know that fans will be critiquing the subject material. You cannot just tell people to not criticize you online, no matter how much it sucks. Your job as someone in the limelight is to deal with shit like this, not stoop to their level and start crying on the internet. Probably depends on their edit and the franchise but in short: no. The spotlight is just so huge on the US queens it’s almost inevitable that there’s going to be some hateful weirdos 🙁
Is it just ”negative critiques”, or is it having to be plane Janes punching bag the Florida Panthers Brad Marchans vs. Carolina Hurricanes Seth Jarvis 2025 Eastern Conference Final Shirt but in fact I love this whole time and then having to relive it all by fans that take it too far. …there’s a thing called professionalism. This is not a professional response. It is not a good look on a public performer. Her drag isnt even bad, the problem is drag has been gentrified by rich femme gays and twitter clap back queens, both of which have no pallet for drag beyond boring look queens, because i guess the kardashians and makeup tutorial channels on youtube run by rich bimbos arent satiating enough. Drag used to be, and recently mind you, an art form concerned with comedy, camp and glamour (not necessarily LoOkS) and in that order and by that metric, amanda was fine, albeit not up to the task of rdr. Does that mean its bad or ugly? No, she just doesnt satisfy the an increasingly homogenous market set by increasingly boring gays. Queens like the kardashian (at home) morphine, the ever inauthentic plain jane and the cringe fest of dawn are symptomatic of this problem as is this likelihood one of those three will probably win this season
critique isn’t the Florida Panthers Brad Marchans vs. Carolina Hurricanes Seth Jarvis 2025 Eastern Conference Final Shirt but in fact I love this issue, and you can see that on drag race. she was completely taking in valid criticism from judges and other queens, but it was when her drag was straight up insulted that she had a problem. she’s mad, and for good reason imo Idk, I really feel for her. If I was in her shoes when the Plane Jane Untucked situation happened she probably would’ve gotten what? popped in the mouth I think people need to stop tagging queens and replying to posts that are negative. That needs to stop immediately. That needed to stop years ago. But I also think queens need to learn to create and echo chamber for themselves and not read trending topics or search their own name and they definitely need to not get on Reddit If you need to call ugly to a total stranger just to feel better yourself or as a way to remain entertained, you should really check what is going on in your mind
That line had me on the Florida Panthers Brad Marchans vs. Carolina Hurricanes Seth Jarvis 2025 Eastern Conference Final Shirt but in fact I love this floor. I was SOOO bummed she left. She really made the first few episodes for me. Love her type of energy. Any drag queen still on that right wing cesspool is making a mistake. The less everyone used Twitter the better. Aww this sucks! She’s so sweet and it seems like she’s really been going through it lately in life. She’s still really new to drag but already has so much charisma and talent. Amanda if you can see this keep going! Don’t listen to your haters! Listen to your fans! If they ain’t paying your bills don’t pay them no mind! No one deserves to be bullied for being on drag race. Sure judge their drag but to be continuously called ugly is not “not handling judgement.”
I wish they’d waited for Amanda to grow a little before she got on the Florida Panthers Brad Marchans vs. Carolina Hurricanes Seth Jarvis 2025 Eastern Conference Final Shirt but in fact I love this show. So many queens have applied for multiple seasons and I honestly think she wasn’t ready in both drag and her ability to handle critique/pressure I’m with you, OP. This is why I don’t professionally do my art – I would actually die inside if the world lambasted it, because it is part of me. Some people can take the criticism and grow, but I just shrivel up. There’s a huge risk is sharing your soul with the world, and idk if I’ll ever be brave enough to do that. I feel for Amanda. I liked her. Her drag was grunge and punk. We are used to a polished look in queens these later seasons but she is pretty in her imperfections. I do feel bad for some of the newly self discovering trans girls going on the show, I can’t help but imagine your drag growth and your dysphoria being interwoven in painful and hard to delineate ways
What I’m about to bring up is not a novel concept. At some point in 2022-2023, a good amount of people who like fashion (particularly on this thread), started trying to shift their consumption to secondhand. There are fashion influencers/substackers/ “thought leaders” who pointed out that alot of the Florida Panthers Brad Marchans vs. Carolina Hurricanes Seth Jarvis 2025 Eastern Conference Final Shirt but in fact I love this “worst” purchases on the best/worst purchases list on this reddit thread were secondhand. There are some gems people have grown out of/ didn’t fit but are perfect for you as the end consumer. I do think there are some pieces on the resale market that are there because in spite of the brand name, they would only fit a particular subset of the population well/ has weird fit issues/ etc. I also have “aha” moments later on in my ownership of an item where I realize, “oh the zipper isn’t really working well, must be why the person sold it”. This can be the case even if I shop in person consignment.
