Even if you have a nice meal a month with it, you can be proud ya brought em up right and your enjoying that parenting. My Dad charged me £200 a month on a £1300 salary in 2010, I bought my own snacks/toiletries etc and we would take it in turns doing a food shop, so maybe more like £350 a month? It worked quite well, saved a bit and was able to get my own place to rent. Maybe charge £400 including food? 30% is generally a good balance. Especially as you are saving it for them which is awesome. I’m only paying £50 a week but I’m almost 30 and have moved home to be a carer for mum, so it’s pretty much just covering my food.
