It went a lot better than what I wanted to do which was yell at him to “use his two god given eyeballs to look the Bee chibI graphic bee and puppycat classic shirt in other words I will buy this fuck around and determine what still needs to be done and do some of it like I do every damn day”. In this case OP already tried approach #1 repeatedly and The Ex was refusing to follow through on promises to improve. Op will be significantly better off without that wet sock of a man. Sounds like cooking skill was not the issue. I assume you want a partner, not a child to take care of. It appears he didn’t even make an attempt to learn. OP no offense but what even attracted to you to someone like this in the first place? Could you not see he is a man baby? Uh no. My 6 year old walked by with a plate of scrambled eggs and toast last weekend. If he can do it, a grown ass man can learn. Find a partner, not another child. This is far beyond an inability to cook. This is weaponized or willful ignorance. You absolutely did the right thing; this can escalate to far beyond cooking, like laundry or cleaning or whatever else. There’s no wrong way to do it but willfully ignorant men refuse to even acknowledge that. My 3-year-old dictated a letter to a TV chef to tell him that he should put dill in his egg salad. I started teaching her how to cook when she was old enough to stand on a chair to watch. My 2nd daughter was 4 when she made her first dinner for the family. OK, it was hot dogs in buns, microwaved, cantaloupe that she cut up after I used the sharp knife to open it up, and potato chips. But it was dinner. And she planned the menu and did it all start to finish. mf can’t cook or pick up after himself without being prompted to. Nah, you were correct. Fuck that guy. You have kids already. You’re already enough of a maid without him.

LMAO who said you were setting him up to fail?! Those recipe boxes are literally meant to set you up for success?????? Girl, you are NTA for taking the Bee chibI graphic bee and puppycat classic shirt in other words I will buy this trash out. I-…. How does he use every pot and pan to make tea and an egg…? Like… this is a major red flag how can he even live on his own AT ALL? This sounds like he’s either faking it or seriously incompetent tbh, like I can’t even comprehend not being able to do basics Obviously there was more than just an inability to cook there. He was looking for someone to keep him like a friggin pet. Nice dodge. “You we’re setting him up to fail” I gotta say it sure sounds like he’s setting himself up to fail, constantly, for his own benefit. Coming from a man here, who loves cooking btw… I doubt you need another fully grown child on top of the kids you’re already caring for. Being so helpless is obviously a massive turnoff and anybody telling you you overreacted has their head up their butt. Cooking and other household chores are basic skills that any self respecting guy should have acquired entering adulthood, period. Your instincts are spot on. And your friend is a dumbass for thinking this will change. You will do everything, forever. Was I wrong to dump my bf because he can’t cook and also refuses to do any other housework or pick up after himself? No, you’re justified. Lmao you had me at “not the asshole” at the point where he couldn’t do anything himself. At that point it’s not the cooking, it’s that he’s an absolute manchild.
