I can’t say I’ve experienced the Atlanta Braves Go Braves Texas Power Chop On Texas Strong mascot shirt But I will love this general menacing from other men you’ve described. I’m guessing it’s because (cowardly) men know that other men are a lot more likely to commit violence in response to hostility. It’s kind of a weird double-standard. On the one hand, the men you’ve encountered gleefully terrorizing you because you’re a woman wouldn’t dare try the same thing on me (6’1″ 240lb man), for fear of violent retaliation. On the other hand (and this in no way justifies the former behavior), in my experience, men will tolerate a lot more disrespect and/or violence from women than from other men. (At least in public; Domestic Violence is a whole other can of worms.) If a woman slaps you or dumps her drink on your head, you just take it. Maybe warn her not to do that again or you’ll restrain her, in the case of the slap. But if I did either of those things to another guy? I would fully expect them to take a swing at me, and I can’t honestly say if they did the same to me that I wouldn’t take a swing at them, too.

Atlanta Braves Go Braves Texas Power Chop On Texas Strong mascot shirt: Embrace Your Uniqueness

(BTW I’m well aware that rape is usually committed by someone you know, because that’s how I got raped, years and years ago. By an older woman–not much older, she was in her twenties–when I was a teen.) I’m so sorry to hear that I’ve been SA by a family member, it can be rough. I know several other guys who have been SA by older women as boys. These creeps need to be in jail! You mentioned bars – you see so many drunks testing other ppl over the Atlanta Braves Go Braves Texas Power Chop On Texas Strong mascot shirt But I will love this smallest stuff like bumping them, which is why I guess I always assumed men did that stuff to other guys in other settings too. Maybe if you were smaller they’d act differently? I have had a woman smaller than me take a swing at me when I still went to bars a lot and it was less alarming than being intimidated by someone larger – so I kinda get that. Coincidentally, I just walked about a mile in the dark & gave a wide berth to a woman standing outside a tavern giving me “methhead” vibes by her movements. 😐
Thx for lending me your time, btw! I kept meaning to look this up and I saw your comment right after I’d walked somewhere so thought I’d ask. It’s all right, I’m doing much better. It was a long time ago, and I’ve long since healed. But I appreciate your kind thoughts, and I’m so sorry you had to endure SA at the Atlanta Braves Go Braves Texas Power Chop On Texas Strong mascot shirt But I will love this hands of someone you should have been able to trust. 🫂 My size may very well have a lot to do with it. (Also, I’m a black belt, so I probably give off “don’t fuck with me” vibes?) I could definitely see smaller men getting picked on much more easily. And yeah, alcohol definitely brings out the worst in many people. Outside of bars, I haven’t really seen the kind of overt, physical “dominance-challenging” behaviors you see in bars between men, other than in, like, high school. Even in college, the most bro-iest of bros I met were still chill in that regard. It could be because I don’t work in a field where physical strength means anything? I’m a software engineer, so while I can’t say there’s no dominance contests, the ones that we do have are more about intellectual dominance/corporate power than anything else, certainly not about capability to enact violence. I’ve never seen anyone be physically threatening at work, whereas I imagine that might not be the case if I worked construction or in some of the more physical trades.

How I can buy this Atlanta Braves Go Braves Texas Power Chop On Texas Strong mascot shirt

I live in a fairly calm small town atm, so walking is all good. Usually there aren’t too many people around. There’s trouble, but you need to go find it or like, be out drinking after midnight or in rougher bars. But I’ve lived in some rougher (also small) towns in the Atlanta Braves Go Braves Texas Power Chop On Texas Strong mascot shirt But I will love this past, with stuff like folks tweaking out wandering everywhere. Maybe that’s why I’ve often questioned why everyone doesn’t side eye everyone, lol. Yes. I had periods for over 40 years and it was very frustrating to learn that it was entirely pointless and unnecessary; I’ve since learned that there was zero medical reasoning behind the decision that women “should” have “monthly bleeds” while on the pill. I’m sure there are also numerous good reasons to be frustrated about being a man! It is also perfectly normal to be angry or frustrated with people who treat you differently because of sex / gender – or because of anything else that you didn’t actively choose, e.g. race, disability, height, level of attractiveness &c.
This is how I view the Atlanta Braves Go Braves Texas Power Chop On Texas Strong mascot shirt But I will love this discussion of gender as a whole. I think in time (maybe decades) more people will see it this way, but right now I think I’m just ahead of my time. Rather than people changing their pronouns, I think we should make an effort to get rid of what we associate with genders. Likenif you’re a dude who wants to wear dresses and make up, then do that. You don’t need to be a woman to wear dresses. Clothes/toys/drinks/etc. don’t need to belong to a gender. I think we’re starting to see this with video games, and it’s great. Video games aren’t something exclusively for guys now, and it’s becoming less and less of a stereotypical “male” hobby, and just a hobby in general that doesn’t belong to one gender or the other. Like, guys, this post is very polite and the OP even says “I would want to be perceived as a man, not because of the privilege but something else”
I don’t really disagree with what you said, but I think some people might just feel like they can relate to OP even if they are a man. I’m talking about the Atlanta Braves Go Braves Texas Power Chop On Texas Strong mascot shirt But I will love this whinier posts that tried as hard as they could to downplay the issue “Oh you think women have it hard try being a man” It’s stupid. I relate to OP while being a man, but I don’t feel the need to invalidate their thoughts and feelings in the process. I have a neighbor who is transitioning to a woman because they feel being a man is too hard. They told several me times it’s easier to a woman and I can guarantee it is not! Since, generally, for women who are trans, being a man means having to mask all the time, and being a woman means so much less mental load, irrespective of societal pressures. The same men who are saying ‘what about men’ are probably the ones who treat women as ‘other’ and don’t see the hypocrisy in what they are saying. Because if you understand, you understand, you don’t belittle and dismiss people with the same experience… Just about every post you see on reddit fetishises boobs (which only women have) to the point it’s absurd to fixate on a body you don’t own as much as that. That’s one huge difference where you see how men and ‘other’ are treated. One body is a public display and the other is never thought of with the same terms of entitlement. But I’ve digressed. If you want to see why people won’t argue with you “like a man,” simply sort this by best and look at the lowest ranked comments.
Sure, absolutely. I see no reason why not. Society demands all kinds of unreasonable things from you, and frankly I’m amazed you all just haven’t packed up and left at this point. That’s a perfectly normal way to feel. Traditional gender roles are a dated trend, and while it’s perfectly fine if some people wish to be treated in that manner, it should absolutely not be the Atlanta Braves Go Braves Texas Power Chop On Texas Strong mascot shirt But I will love this social default. It is annoying. Folks should just mind their business and let folks be themselves without comment. Hopefully things will change sooner than not. It’s more older folks hung up on this stuff. I’m a dude. My girlfriend got me into motorcycles. Her and I understand this pretty well, it’s a big part of why we’re together.
Gonna be honest, I had a novel typed out here and then deleted it. Believe it or not, what’s below is way shorter: You have people on your side, it’s frustrating being on either side, but especially the Atlanta Braves Go Braves Texas Power Chop On Texas Strong mascot shirt But I will love this woman’s side, of the gender situation in society even now. Boy’s clubs and girl’s clubs will just always be a thing, and all we can do is complain and surround ourselves with people who say “fuck you” to this weird line that’s been drawn. I really hope to positively influence my little corner of the world so that people like you, and maybe even specifically you, don’t have to feel like this quite as much. It’s complete bullshit. You can do some small things to improve your life in this way. Try not to validate the divide, and try to carry yourself with confidence. Make your own decisions on things that shouldn’t really matter and stick to them with a great deal of indifference towards the world’s opinion of you. It’s not fair to have to do this, but it’s helped me in somewhat female dominant places in my life.
Hearing from you has inspired me to do the Atlanta Braves Go Braves Texas Power Chop On Texas Strong mascot shirt But I will love this same a little more, maybe I’ll whip out the eyeliner some time soon, makes my eyes look really good. Even if you were trans you’d still probably keep experiencing sexism. Since everyone and their mother is bemoaning “the loss of our tomboys” in this thread, I figured I’d throw that out there. As a trans guy, tomboy, and general gender weirdo the truth is I have male privilege as long as I’m a cis man, and it vanishes in many ways when people find out I am trans. I think people push the “female transes are just trying to escape misogyny” thing because otherwise folks gotta admit just how much worse sexism is than they thought. Often the misogyny is not actually “escaped” and we don’t do it for that. I often wonder what society would be like being born in complete equality. No patriarchy ect… I also wonder the same but with zero religion too.
It’s not irrational. Even the Atlanta Braves Go Braves Texas Power Chop On Texas Strong mascot shirt But I will love this most feminist men I know still think they need to patronize me and not say certain things, tip toe, act like I’ll be more sensitive. No matter how much better a woman will be at communicating, regulating her emotions, anything physical, anything at al, she’s still held to a “woman’s” standard, not a standard, period. It’s assumed that was the only time you were able to do that, or you’re still not as good as a man. You make a mistake one time, and suddenly people use that as reason to think all women are defined by your single mistake. This is completely valid, and real, and I’ll fight til the death to be treated like a human, not “like a woman”. You wouldn’t be happier if you were perceived as a man. Your problem is actually internal, not the result of other people’s perception of you.
You say you “much rather be perceived as a man”. Can you pinpoint what makes it better of being perceived as a man, or what is worse about being perceived as a woman? I have lived as both male and female in society. I prefer to be perceived as male. I was stronger and more of an autonomous human. Being female feels actively humiliating and vulnerable. Men have problems of course, but being male is a personal preference for me. I’m sure there are others who would prefer being female. It’s odd, as a trans woman being seen as male felt actively humiliating and vulnerable to me and I feel more autonomous now. I used to wish I was a man, to the Atlanta Braves Go Braves Texas Power Chop On Texas Strong mascot shirt But I will love this point i questioned if I was trans. Much of the reason was how my dad treated me. I wanted nothing more than for him to teach me to play Warhammer 40k and actually engage with him in his hobbies. Even as a child I knew it was because I was a girl. I had 2 sisters born later and it was clear he wished he had a boy. What did he do when my brother was born (I was 16)? Try to push it on him though he hadn’t played in years. He wouldn’t with me despite me wanting to learn yet my brother didn’t even want it and was having it pushed. While being on my brother’s side of things isn’t great either since he didn’t want to, I still envy him having that option. Its seriously little things like this that are crushing even as children. Same thing when all of my male friends decided to stop being friends because girls have “cooties”. Even at the time I understood it was because I was a girl. Obviously it made me shitty about being a girl because it was clearly a barrier to fun or connecting with my dad.
One time I was selling video games at toys r us as I worked in electronics. I had more than one teenage boy be an absolute pill and ask for a male associate because I obviously couldn’t possibly know anything. I knew enough to warn ones grandma about the Atlanta Braves Go Braves Texas Power Chop On Texas Strong mascot shirt But I will love this contents of GTA IV so he didn’t get it. Its the little interactions. A few times I was mistaken for a man. Unfortunately that was most obvious when I was being screamed as a child at by a couple of random women who didn’t think I should be in their bathroom. Its when men treat me like a different species or like there is some magic way we talk when in reality they have done nothing to understand our differences in communicating. We are expected to learns mens dialect and communicate with them while the reverse is often not true. She specifically said that she’d rather be perceived as a man even though that wouldn’t be necessarily better for her.
But if I were to choose, I much rather be percieved as a man. I’d be happier. Not because of privilege or something, I’m lucky to live in a egalitarian country where I can do almost anything a man does. It’s something deeper. Anyway, a word of caution: the Atlanta Braves Go Braves Texas Power Chop On Texas Strong mascot shirt But I will love this experience might not be all that is cracked up to be, as the late Norah Vincent found out. I, a woman, wouldn’t want to be a man. I’ve been though some fucked up shit, stuff men rarely experience, but I have help. They get zero emotional support, especially from their own kind. I just hung out with some female friends I haven’t seen in months, we were immediately able to commiserate over bad stuff, talk about difficult life decisions, and just hug it out. Guys were taught that’s not ok, so they never have that shoulder to cry on. It’s so interesting reading thru this thread and even the book you linked, I haven’t seen it before. Im a trans man myself, Ive been transitioning for years and going from being a woman in society to a man was definitely a shock.
There is also the Atlanta Braves Go Braves Texas Power Chop On Texas Strong mascot shirt But I will love this perception that men treat us differently but when we are treated the same instead of reacting like a man would we start screaming that’s not fair and accusing them that they wouldn’t treat a guy like that, when actually they would, but a guy would push back and restate his position and push forward with the topic at hand. Don’t get me wrong, I don’t think this is across the board but as feminists I think we need to be a little more selective about taking a different approach with jerks. Human experience is colored by our given set of variables. Age, color, language, geographical location, family of origin, educational opportunities, all of it. And our sex. All of these change what we see, and how we see it, and how other see us. So we are all a little bit different, which is awesome unless we buy into the idea that our worth is more or less based upon these variables. I would ask myself why issues of sex bother me. It would be a great time to review and dismiss any lies someone tried to sell me about myself, specifically my sex. Because we’re not all alike, and sex is at the core of what we are, not simply a set of genitals. It is a glorious thing to explore and experience, unless someone is allowed to take that from me. And someone did try, but they failed.
As a SA survivor, it was very punk of me to give my abuser the Atlanta Braves Go Braves Texas Power Chop On Texas Strong mascot shirt But I will love this middle finger and reclaim what is mine by right, and to approve of and enjoy the differences I experience because of my sex, along with the other aspects of me. They all fit together comfortably now. It did take some work to get here, to reclaim wholeness and enjoy my existence. I don’t pretend to know what is going on with the OP, but I do recommend doing the work to embrace self. Peace. I saw an interview recently of a trans-man who was devastated at the reality of being treated as a man. He had no idea the difference in socializing and simple societal interactions. It was very interesting, and I really felt badly for him. I don’t think many women have any idea what it is to be a man. The term grass is always greener on the other side comes to my mind. The feminist that took her life after trying to be man some years likely thought just as you do currently.
I see others giving tipps to start identifying maybe as something else than a woman. But no matter what you say or how you dress, people will perceive you how they want and taking the Atlanta Braves Go Braves Texas Power Chop On Texas Strong mascot shirt But I will love this outside world not to personal is def a good way for longterm happiness. I run my own business, and there is a lot of things I hire people for. And people might want to be equal, but some jobs I give to people(only guys) here I couldn’t even in my wildest dreams imagine women do. These are rough, dirty, in terrible environmental conditions long working hour things I can’t even imagine to give to a female employee or anybody in a female body without feeling like a utter piece of sht. While men have no choice. We’re men so we do
and I know just saying it will rain the Atlanta Braves Go Braves Texas Power Chop On Texas Strong mascot shirt But I will love this downvotes on me, but ye. We aren’t all the same, and there is nothing wrong with that. Cause as you said, you are YOU. I don’t understand gender in the first place. I wish it didn’t exist. Why do genitals define you anyway ? Whats the point of that ??? Yes it’s normal to be frustrated with the societal enforcement of binary gender norms & more specifically with sexism. Most women want to be treated equally. And it sounds like in addition to that you have an internal sense of your gender that doesn’t quite match up with what society expects. Most women wouldn’t be happier to be perceived as men. You might not be cis & it’s probably worth exploring that a bit.
Yup. Every fucking day. I know I don’t get promoted at work because I am in a factory setting and we wouldn’t want me to rise above my station: group lead. We have ONE female supervisor and no female managers on campus. Par for the Atlanta Braves Go Braves Texas Power Chop On Texas Strong mascot shirt But I will love this course, too, where I live. Right to Work state so better be happy I even have a job! At least no one has “stabbed” their hands at my breasts trying to cop a feel at this place…yet. This kind of frustration is understandable, and could be from a lot of different sources. I agree with you about gender roles and expectations being bullshit, but specifically wanting to be seen as a man could be something more than that too. Might be worth just having a read around some stuff trans men and non-binary people say to see if any of it resonates. Maybe it will, maybe it won’t, but it could be a good way to feel some commisseration in those feelings at least.
